Committee Chatter for Topical Torque

Hello Folks

This is our AGM month, and it truly is hard to believe that another year has passed by. This is an important time for all members to give serious thought to the running of the club as we need to fill the position of all officers including Chairperson, Club Captain and Secretary. All positions need to be filled so that the workload is spread and to give a good variety of club activities and not the same old same old that has been happening. We need a good variety of activities to keep the members interest in our club.

A very good attendance at the April Noggin and Natter night heard from two guest speakers. Harry Duynhoven President of the NZ Federation of Motoring Clubs spoke on the 12 months warrant that we all want and brought us up to date on other benefits of belonging to this federation as our VCC National Club is the second largest member out of 131 member clubs totalling over one hundred and twenty thousand members.

We also heard from Kevin Richards who is the Taranaki agency owner for X Span Sheds who introduced us to a variety of different sized sheds that are not only suitable for the farm use but could be great storage sheds for our vehicles.

We welcome a new member Chris Butler who owns a 1955 Borgward and a 1958 Borgward and a 1958 Lloyd Van.

We would like members to take note of these events coming up for you.

Our AGM on Thursday 18th May at 8.00pm. Consider standing for the committee. The Committee NEEDS YOU!

A visit on the 21 May to Laurie Callendar’s Collection, then onto the “Forgotten World Museum” of Dave Hunger’s at 393 Pembroke Road Stratford. See details elsewhere in this newsletter.

We need members to organise The Brick Run and The Breakfast Run as we would like them to be activated again. These two runs were popular when they were organised before Covid hit us. Give It A Go.

See you all at the AGM

Hi Ian, I’d like to thank you and the Vintage Car Club for having me as a speaker. As a reasonably new business in Taranaki, I really appreciated having the opportunity to tell your members about my product and services.

I would also like to thank your club for the voucher, it was very much appreciated. I was really impressed by your club and your members. A passionate and well-organized Club.

Kevin Richards – X Span Taranaki
