RUN 16TH JULY 2023 TO ST ARNAUD report

& photos by Zoe Gough

This annual run hosted by Nelson and Marlborough branches who take it in turns. This year it was Nelson. Bruce and I decided to go as it was not too great a distance from Reefton (under 2 hours in the Vanguard).

The weather decided to be kind and we had a good run arriving at Lake Rotoiti at 11.45, lovely view, sun, few boats and people BUT NO classic cars. By 12pm we decided to drive into St Arnaud township to see if we could see any, sure enough about 35 cars of all types were parked at the Community centre (Yep Zoe misread instructions thinking it was at Lake Rotoiti!). We entered to find the large hall buzzing with around 70 folks eating, talking and creating towers out of dry spaghetti, masking tape and a marshmallow (see pic), other games followed. It was well organised the venue excellent, atmosphere friendly lots of people met. All helped to tidy away chairs and tables. then we left around 2.45 in good spirits after having a very interesting time. Thank you all who organised and attended.
