TOURIST MAGAZINE When asked about her latest venture, Sanna Berger, editor-inchief of Tourist Magazine, replies: “Tourist Magazine is an everevolving platform for anything. It can be anything we want it to be and it does not need to conform to a steady structure. Built by Berger and a select core of people, among them famed model/ blogger Arvida Bystrom and photographer Jonathan Flanders, the magazine is meant to be a visual

experience as well as a challenging thought process, discussing or dissecting any subject, how ever tame or controversial. With a fresh and anti-conventional take on art, photography, and beauty ideals, Tourist Magazine is here to stay.

ERIK BRUNETTI Having gotten into art and illustration at the age of 4, it comes as no surprise that Erik Brunetti came to found the revolutionary streetwear label Fuct when he was just 23, in 1990. Brunetti was born in Virginia and grew up in Philadelphia and New York. He describes his adolescence as “wild, free, chaotic, depressing and happy at times, a defining era that shaped his style and led to his being widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in street culture.

ISABELLE KÜSTER The Bohemian Muser

With punk rock and grunge lingering everywhere in our present day fashion scene, it’s nice to see free flowing spirits are still in the air. The perfect example is blogger Isabelle Kuster who claims to be “a summer child at heart” and never fails to add

florals, feathers and dangling gold bangles to her flower child look. Isabelle’s blog Bohemian Musings is like a photo album featuring snap shots of her daily outfits, modeled within the nature and industrial areas of her hometown Hamburg. With her

angelic blonde messed up hair and modellike physique, Isabelle resembles a fresher version of Sienna Miller, with a touch of German innocence. Constantly with a cigarette in hand, this young student narrates her life in bustling Hamburg, by sharing her thoughts on fashion, school, theatre and coffee with 2000 world-wide readers - and she’s caught the attention of the fashion world. Having been mentioned on several other blogs for having outstanding style, she shares with us that her fashion muses would be young Jane Birkin, Vintage Sienna Miller and Edie Sedgwick - all of which have the same free attitude that she reflects. Spending most of the time in front of the camera, modeling each outfit, Isabelle is now switching sides and getting a taste of capturing the photos, “I just got myself a lomographic baby, the diana mini so I can try out being behind the lens too!” Claim-

ing that “style is a reflection of peoples’ insides” one can only imagine how much peace, and freedom floats through her, as her whimsical and airy clothes would prove. Being a restless and spontaneous avid student, we can expect a great deal to come out of this coffee loving blogger who whether snow or shine is gracing her furs and florals in the most stylish of ways yet still finds the time to squeeze out a full theatrical dissertation. follow Isabelle’s adventures on her blog Bohemian Musings (bohememusings.blogspot.com)

Raised in a small village, Jostein Wålengen’s photography is ideally described by terms such as “ethereal” and “whimsical”. Forests, parks, and Scandinavian beaches serve as locations for his mystical shots, as does his downtown Oslo apartment, which he shares with two friends.

ALEXIS MASTROYIANNIS

When asked about his future, Alexis replies “I haven’t really considered any profession, but I would definitely be happy if I ended up as a professional photographer, it’s just that there are so many people angling to be one I doubt there’s enough room for me as well”. We can assure you, there is plenty of room.

“I got a [Yashica] T4 because someone listed it wrong on ebay, so it was only about 30 pounds, I broke it the other day but superglued it back together because there is absolutely no way I can afford to replace it.

SHARON GONG

“I started out on this crappy little pink Casio point and shoot.”

“I take photos because I love it and I’ll never stop.”

KATRIN BRAGA

“I like messy places and making a mess.

Lesley Arfin’s wildly popular Vice column was turned into the autobiographical Dear Diary in 2007, which has been aptly called “Go Ask Alice for the post-Kids generation of New York”. We caught up with the NY girlabout-town/writer for the short interview that follows. x

I was really dissappointed to find out that Charlene and Darlene weren’t real names. Was it hard coming up with names that suited the actual people? It’s true that their real names were not Charlene and Darlene. You wanna know what they really are? Marlene and Jolene. Not so disappointed now are we? Yes coming up with fake names was a lot harder than I thought. I had to look through Gavin’s high school yearbook, but he’s from Canada and everyone’s name is “Bobby Lemieux” and that wasn’t really working for me. Did you edit any of your old diary entries because you were ashamed of them? I did edit some entries but not because I was ashamed, mostly just because they were boring and redundant. I consolidated many of them for page count reasons. Where are you? Where am I? Right now? I’m at my office on 14th street in NYC. What do you do for a living? I’m a writer. What are your 5 favorite spots in Manhattan? 1. Max Fish (local bar, Cheers-like vibe) 2. Merks Fish (my friend Meryl’s backyard) 3. Houston steps (good people watching/summer hang sesh) 4. Chelsea Piers Park and the rest of the West Village 5. Hell’s Kitchen flea market What are your 5 online daily reads? 1. streetcarnage.com 2. feelslikewhitelightning.com 3. twitter.com 4. facebook.com 5.Unemployment insurance benefits online site What are your plans for the summer? My summer plans are to live in LA, get a house with a backyard, write for 5 hours everyday, and make out. Describe a perfect summer day in NY. A perfect summer day in nyc is a hot overcast humid muggy day sitting on the stoop with my friends, eating sunflower seeds, drinking iced tea, and talking shit. Lesley, do you like Elvis Presley? I love Elvis! Are you working on any new books? Yes, I am working on a new book, just the beginning really. I also recently wrote the introduction to The Selby interior design book, as well as a short essay for the First Kiss zine by Marisa Meltzer and White Lightning. More of Lesley’s writing can be found on her website Lesleyarfin.com and her blog Cafeconlesley.blogspot.com

Jordan Sullivan “I was born in Houston, Texas. I’ve been taking photos since I was a teenager growing up outside Detroit. These pictures are part of a series shot in late autumn in central and northern New Mexico. They were taken in ghost towns and boneyards, sage fields and desert canyons, in ice caves and on the edges of dead volcanoes.” “The model is Pamela Love. I reprocessed the photographs because I wanted them feel like the broken towns and desolate landscapes we were passing through. I wanted to bring out the light and physical surface of each picture.” Buy Jordan’s new book No Regrets For Our Youth on jordan-sullivan.com
