Violence Intervention Program, Inc. (VIP) is hosting this special event to promote the creativity, talent, and entrepreneurial spirit of the clients we work with. “Manos de mi Madre” (My Mother’s Hands), was organized as a culminating event for clients who have been participating in VIP’s economic empowerment program. Through this initiative, clients have been able to establish bank accounts, improve their credit, learn about accessing small business loans, improve their marketing skills and legitimize their businesses. VIP’s Director of Life Enrichment Services, Lorena Kourousias, explains : “We know that for many survivors, economic stability is the single most important factor as to whether or not they will be able to leave and stay away from their abusive partner. Economic independence is critical to survival which is what makes an event like this so important”. Thursday, May 11, 2017 El Barrio’s Artspace PS109
