As volunteers and survivors were doing laps and collecting beads, others were preparing to light the luminaries at the Montgomery County Relay For Life.

Alex Stewart, Senior Development Manager with the American Cancer Society shared her thoughts, “Montgomery County Relay For Life has been doing this for more than twenty years, but we’re restarting post Covid-19. This is our first in-person event in two years. Last year was a drive-thru event.

Stewart thinks it will take a year or two to get back to where they were. “We’re looking for volunteers and committee members to help us bring it back to its former glory. We love volunteers, and new teams. Anyone can contact me at alex.stewart@cancer.org or by phone at (630) 677-3587.

All proceeds go to cancer research, Nashville’s Hope Lodge, Road to Recovery and Reach to Recovery.
