Story & Photography by Tony Centonze Clarksville Fire Rescue and Police Department along with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, EMA and Volunteer Fire Department recently worked together to organize a First Responders ‘Remember the Badges’ Blood Drive with the American Red Cross.
“We’re doing this blood drive in remembrance of the 2,977 innocent lives that were lost on 9/11,” CFR Asst. Chief Michael Rios said. “We’ve all partnered with the American Red Cross on this. They do so much for us, so anytime we’re able to help them, we show up. Today is our first organized event.”
Pamela Holz is Executive Director of the Tennessee River Chapter of American Red Cross. “We’re so excited to be here at Immaculate Conception’s Family Life Center,” Holz said. “It’s a way for us to collect much needed blood units while remembering the First Responders, and everyone who perished on 9/11. We’re so thankful for all our local First Responders who have helped us make this drive successful. They’ve done a great job of getting the word out in the community.”
