2013-2014
The collection was inspired by the story of a female artist from Art Brut, Sir Marguerite, who turned crazy after being abandoned on the altar the day of her wedding. While she was in cure in a mental institution, desiring ardently to experience marriage one day, she began making a bridal gown for an imaginary wedding day using the threads of the bed sheets from the hospital. This extremely romantic and naive vision of love made me think that in fact everyone, at least once in their lives, turn crazy for love. Another source of inspiration have been the poems from Alda Merini, an italian poetess who was also hospitalized in a mental institution, and wrote wonderful poems about love and the otherness of madness in the creative expression. I also looked at a lot of artwork from artists from Art Brut to then make, inspired by them, embroideries on garments telling the story of a woman turned crazy for love, trying to don’t think too much and doing them in a free and spontaneous way. The shapes of the garments are a combination between hospital scrubs, aprons and tailored garments. vvThis way parts of the garments are knotted together and the raw feeling of it is in contrast with the colorful and naive embroideries made with glass beads.

3th Bachelor Collection
For Wonder 2012-2013 The concept of my collection starts from a video from the artist Kiki Smith, in which a document about a women comunity living in New Jersey in the stone age period is found by two scout girls in a forest. The video is clearly ironical since it records the discovery and interpretation of what is, in fact, an invented archeological site. The women are in fact dressed with clothes from the 80’s wrapped around as typical cave women. The video is also a feminist manifesto following the beliefs of second-wave feminism which follows a matriarchal myth, but that in this case is undercut through a video parody.I got particularly inspired by the concept of a fake stone age and the irony used by the artist, and translated this concept of “fake stone age” by working with fabric treatments and overwhelming colors and textures. The clothes are made of flowers in latex, which I made by hand refering to the flowers from vintage swimcaps, fake fur, fabric cut out and metallic leather with animal motif done by applications which gives the feeling of a controlled and artificial wildness. To underline the more typically feminin aspect, I styled the silouhettes with silk scarves on the head, which responds to the stereotype of old divas and sofisticated women. This way I created my own group of women which could come from another time.

Apapaatai are masks used by the Wauja, an indigenous people from Brazilian Amazonia, in their shamanistic rituals. As abductors of human souls, the apapaatai are the main cause of illnesses. However, when celebrated in rituals with masks, flutes and clarinets the apapaatai can cure and protect the Wauja, for whom the apapaatai are a kind of “vaccine that strengthens their bodies. The costume is made of raffia woven and then painted with acrylic paint.

A Garden In Hell
2011-2012
2th Bachelor Collection
The inspiration for this collection started from the infamous picture of Diana Vreeland in her home, which she defined herself as a “Garden in hell, in which her person is lost in an overloaded space. I took this idea of filling up the space and overdoing elegance, the idea of horror vacui and faiding beuty and translated it into garments. What facinated me the most was this feeling of forced elegance and tried to include it intothe garments by combining rich fabrics like silks, chiffons and organza together with tye dye to express a faiding beauty. The result is a dramatic feeling given by shapes taken from cuture but disturbed by raw edges, tye dye fabrics and beading.
