VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY POLICY AND PROCEDURE HANDBOOK
University are considered by the Cabinet, which is advisory to the President. The President’s Cabinet meets at the discretion of the President.
Faculty of the University
The Board of Trustees has delegated to the Faculty the following rights and responsibilities (1966 Statement on Shared Government):
● The Faculty of the University shall consist of the President of the University, the professors, including the associate and assistant professors, instructors, lecturers, and adjuncts.
● The Faculty shall have power to adopt and to enforce such rules as may be deemed expedient for the good governance of the University not inconsistent with the By-Laws of
Virginia Wesleyan University and not disapproved by the Board of Trustees.
● Within the limits imposed by the Board of Trustees and the mode and course of instruction and education established by the President of the University, the Faculty shall have the power to recommend, advise, and to supervise the academic and educational activities of the University.
● The Faculty shall have the sole power and authority to nominate students of the University for certificates, diplomas or degrees as it deems that they merit. The Faculty shall have the power and it shall be its duty, subject to the right of disapproval by the President of the
University or by the Board of Trustees, to establish principles and methods for ascertaining the proficiency of students and for the assignments of honors.
There shall be a Faculty Handbook, with general policies and procedures specific to the faculty, which shall supplement policies and procedures contained in the document.
