• Support policies and programmes for the fight against crime and violence.

• Reduce single parent and youth unemployment.

• Improve access to education and health services.

• Support the development of business and work skills for our people.

• Support an analysis of the minimum wage and the Payroll Taxes Act in comparison to the cost of living and social issues in the Territory.

• Support an adjustment of the payroll taxes threshold and minimum wage for residents to live reasonably.

HEALTH

The well-being of a nation’s health is critical to its development and future. Your candidate is committed to improving our health care system for all.

Ellis-Simpson will

• Improve health care for disabilities, mental health and special needs.

• Support better care for senior citizens.

• Advocate for the assessment and improvement of the National Health Insurance (NHI) structure for its sustainability.

• Review social security benefits for persons with disability and special needs.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Your candidate knows that there can’t be a progressive plan for our main pillars, Financial Services and Tourism, without improving our lagging infrastructure and diversification of our products. Ellis-Simpson is committed to the development and growth of our economy.

• Review the structure of our financial services products and make recommendations that will add value and diversity.

• Support a review of BVI trusts with a view of generating more from this financial services product.

• Increase job opportunities and invest in our people to become entrepreneurs, tradesmen, engineers, sailors in the yachting and other industries.

• Develop small communities and improve our infrastructure - better roads, water & sewerage, technology and beautification.

• Support improved banking and expand business opportunities in Sister Islands.

• Support innovation and e-commerce to attract external funding.

• Expand art and craft industry.

• Create a niche - first class attraction on Tortola.

• Support foreign direct investment.

• Strengthen public-private partnerships.

• Improve public safety.

EDUCATION

Education is at the heart of a sustainable and great future. Your candidate is committed to an educational plan which will decrease unemployment of youths and single parents.

Ellis-Simpson will

• Invest in the educational pursuits of our children and support young adults and single parents to further their education and or acquire a skill.

• Implement policies and programs for addressing violence in primary and secondary schools.

• Implement a new department of socialization and reform for all primary and secondary schools.

• Ensure adequate ratio of guidance counselors and child psychologists in the education system.

• Implement a national nutrition programme for all primary and secondary schools.

• Support better compensation packages for educators.

• Provide academic training and technical support for the academic staff within our educational institutions.

• Building a national swimming pool and add swimming and sailing to the schools’ curriculum.

• After school academic programs as well as behaviour management programs for at risk students.

• Build a national library and improve other library services.

Your candidate is committed to having an adequate Waste Management Act and reducing toxic environments which can affect our children, adults and visitors alike.
