The 25 Roads for 25 Years Challenge is back in full swing now that Vancouver Island travel restrictions related to COVID-19 have been relaxed. My inbox filled up quickly and it took a few days to increase its capacity, so apologies for the emails that bounced back. I’m excited to announce that all members can now view the Challenge results! Go to the VIRPCA website and click on the 25 Roads Challenge under Events. At the bottom of the page, you’ll see a RESULTS button that takes you to “Results by Road” to see which roads have been driven the most, and “Team Statistics” to see which teams have been out driving. Click on a road or a team’s name for stories and photos. It’s entertaining and also a good way to get information on road conditions and tips on places to eat and stops to make. Big thanks to Karl Hoener for setting up the tracker for us. Sonia and I will do our best to keep the results updated on a regular basis. We have just over 50 teams out there driving, and I’m pleased to say that every road has been completed at least twice. Here are this month’s highlights and updates:

Road Six: Mile Zero is still the route most travelled with almost half the teams completing it It appears Teams Gosse and Dempsey had an epic trip up north Team Gosse has crossed the finish line as the first member to complete all 25 Roads well done! Who will be next?

We have confirmation that Pickles Road on Denman is not to be done, it is now a dead end

The only new update is for Road 18: Drive the Valley. Sonia and I drove it right before

Team Gosse and we’re not sure which one of us got more lost, however he ran into a locked gate. It's at the very end of McCoy Lake Road where the instructions say to make a right onto Stirling Arm Drive; he had to go back and all the way around to get the photo on Stirling Arm Dr (see pics on next page). There are lots of roads to explore in the area so have fun and let us know if you find a better route. As always, be sure to also check out the VIRPCA Facebook page and #virpca25roads on Instagram for photos and stories.

Don’t forget, you still have time to register! The Challenge runs until October 1, so there’s lots of time left to participate. Just come up with a team name and email it to me at 25Roads@virpca.org. Take photos during each drive and send me an email so I can post your results. Either include the photos in your email, or tell me you’ve posted them on social media. Complete rules and instructions can be found on the VIRPCA website (under Events, 25 Roads Challenge) and in the Driving Log you received in the mail.
