Awards Party from 22:00 till late at Dingle Skellig Hotel
For over 11 years Animation Dingle brings together Animation students from Ireland and around the globe to celebrate the animation industry.
We are delighted to announce RTÉjr as the title sponsor to The Animation Dingle Awards. RTÉjr are no strangers to AD having been a major sponsor to the festival now for many years. RTÉjr is the national broadcaster of children’s content and we couldn’t think of a more suitable partnership in delivering our annual awards.
This year we have selected over 100 short films to the festival, representing an incredible 26 countries!
We are honoured to mention that Animation Dingle is now a qualifying Student Academy Awards® festival. This means that Student Films selected into our competition and nominated for an award are eligible for consideration to be nominated in the Student Academy Awards®
AND the recipient of Animation Dingle’s Best Irish Professional Short Award is also eligible for consideration in the Animation Short Film category of the Academy Awards®
Congratulations to each nominee!
Hosted by
Fred Cooke
The self-proclaimed King of Kells, Co Meath, Fred is a regular on Irish television and radio. He currently presents the hugely successful Tommy Tiernan Show on RTE, but over the years you may have spotted this Ed Sheeranlookalike in shows such as ‘The Republic of Telly’, ‘The Fear’ and a stunning 4 minute appearance (2 of which he played dead) in BBC’s comedy-drama ‘Vexed’, presently streaming on Netflix.
Fred’s reputation for guaranteed hilarity has ensured he is a resident act at Ireland’s biggest festivals and seen him perform at the comedy mecca that is The Comedy Store, London, and headline regularly at the renowned Stand clubs in Newcastle, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
Julie Jay
Julie Jay is a comic who has taken the comedy world by storm in recent months and already has many impressive accolades under her belt, including winning the Forbidden Fruit Comedy Search 2017 and performing at all major festivals (Body and Soul, Alltogether Now, Electric Picnic, Vodafone). She has also supported the biggest names in comedy, including Neil Delamere, Ardal O’Hanlon, Alison Spittle, has been resident support act for Tommy Tiernan on his Paddy Crazy Horse Tour and has MCed the 2019 series of the Tommy Tiernan Show. Her latest show Oops, This is Toxic has enjoyed sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, First Fortnight and beyond and will tour the country later this year.
One of the most exciting new voices on the Irish comedy scene, her on-stage warmth accompanied by a sizeable side dish of distinctly Irish self-deprecation. Wry wit, neurotic ponderings and clever joke-writing make her an act not to be missed.
Awards Party
Djs Rob and Paudi will be playing a mix of funk, disco, house classics for some late night Dingle dancing.
