MNIFESTO AND CONCEPT • For this assignment, I am doing the book jackets for one Novel and two Autobiography. I focus on the topic of popular people and I pick up Harry Potter , Marilyn Monroe , Steve Jobs these three people to design my book jackets . As I think these three people are very popular in the world and they have had influence our life in many ways. Although , Harry Potter is not real and he just the character of the fantasy novel. But I believe he is the hero of many of the children and he was my hero before. Actually, I don’t really read the novel and I know this boy because I watch the movies when I was a kid. He is a brave Wizard as he never give up when he facing difficulties and he never succumb to the of evil forces. So I when I was a kid I was like always trying to tell my self to be brave as Harry potter when I met difficulties. • For Marilyn Monroe , she doesn’t belong to this age and she died long time ago and I don't really know many information about her. But I know Marilyn Monroe is one of the most classiest and influential actor in the world and her the majority masterpieces are still spreading in this modern society . She has been seen as the icons of sexy and beauty in the world and she are always the object of imitation. • Talk about Steve Jobs , I think everybody should not unfamiliar to this man . He is a amazing man who built the most valuable company in the world – apple and made the best seller phone in the world- iPhone . And it is the phone that I think is the most intelligent and useful in the world. I just love it and I never use others phone. Even he died , but people still respecting and mesmerising him as he change the world and people ‘s life so much.
• In order to design those book jackets , I went to find many images about those three people for helping me getting ideas. Finally, I found some typical photos and I decided to use their faces as ideas to start my design. For the ‘Harry Potter’ one and The ‘Marilyn Monroe’ one , I used Photoshop to change the images to very dark and made them look like shadows and I used their faces as templates that I could do some sketches on it. For the ‘Steve jobs’ one, I just used half of Steve‘s face as I was going to use text to fill his another half of face. However ,My idea was more focusing on designing their famous quotes as I put their famous quotes on their face to make it look special and stand out . And during my designing， I used many skills that learnt from this course as I made typographies by myself and used lots of stroke connection to design the typography and fronts .
