DESIGN BRIEF -The semester brief is to design a community center for the people of Mirle an approx. area to accommodate 150 people. -The design had to integrate a well at the center which served as source of water for the site and a temple complex at the other end.

A relative study pro­ gram was conducted in Puducherry and a detail documentation of the town fabric was do­ne. Each student had to pick a site from the street of which they have documented and insert an appropriate intervention,according to their analysis of the Region.

Agriculture land 760 acre . -Total number of population 840 approx. -Total number of male population is 500 to 560 approx . -Total number of female population is 280-340 approx. -Total number of children is 200 approx. -Literacy rate of this hadi is 40-50 percent . -working population is 50 percent approx . This site is located in Bheemanahalli . This is a plot of land which is given by govt for the tribal rehabilitation pogram. This plot has housing and agriculture land called Hadi. Area of the site including agriculture land is 33,29,620 sq m (822 acers). which is on fringes ofNagarhole National Park

The theme of the semester "EN­CROACH THE ENCROACH­MENT"

pushed the students to question the way architecture is perceived today. The idea of implementing a sustainable design was one of the major themes during the semester. The students were allowed to pick their own sites with respect to concerns that they had.
