FEBRUARY ‘11 VISION CHALLENGE : A Father to the Fatherless is God in His Dwelling The young orphan, the helpless widow and the stranded elderly are held dearly at heaven’s throne. There are numerous references across scripture that speaks of the eye upon the sparrow caring for them and offering great rewards in eternity to those who open their hearts to the care of the orphaned. Psalms 68:5 explains that God in his uttermost dwelling, in the train of the glory that Isaiah witnessed, is a father to the fatherless. How humbling it is for many of us who look upon the orphaned as one more burden, to know that

they are cared for by the Ancient of Days. Christian mission organizations are known the world over for their work among the orphaned, particularly in the so called developing worlds of South America, Africa and Asia. The Christian missionaries from the medieval age onwards till today, often include welfare and health services as a channel to put into practice their teaching and create one more avenue to spread the good news of salvation in Christ.

gateway to success. It has been a practice from the earliest days to equip the little ones with basic education and skills. Following their stay, many of them move on to become successful individuals and a beacon of light in society at large. Caring for the orphaned extends to widows and the elderly. This is a service that demands the body, soul and spirit from the care givers. It is truly a unique calling to receive and care for many who are in the sunset years of their lives.

For the orphaned children, many of the orphanage centers are a

The ministry of caring for the orphaned is built upon prayer and faith. The needs of every day are known to the eternal Father who brings and supplies from sources unknown and unheard off through means unexpected.

The vision challenge for this month is to see the need of the orphaned and to participate in a great ministry that flows from the Father’s footstool.

MISSION CHALLENGE : The Ministry of Daya Vihar The mission challenge for the month of February, 2011 is from the ministry of Brother T. S. Koshy and the Daya Vihar ministry. This ministry started by witnessing a moving incident in 1972 on the streets of Madras and through many of years of prayer the ministry took to final form in 1986 since then has grown by the grace of God over the last two decades. As Bro Koshy writes ‘I have seen the ravens of Elijah and the Manna from heaven in several occasions’. On one occasion after a major road accident in 2009, while Bro Koshy was recovering the ministry was faced with a crisis with no food to serve the children. As they sat in prayer, the Lord burdened a baker and newly born again visitor who were lead to bring food and encouragement not just for the evening coffee but also for the meals needed in the following days. It has pleased the Lord to let the the Daya Vihar ministry grow rapidly. As of today the work has reached 2 states, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and ministers to over a 100 children. Those who have completed education are employed. In Tamil Nadu, the ministry was inspired by a report on how the girl child is unwanted and often killed at birth. With an advance payment made by selling a milking cow, today the Orphanage extends over 15

acres caring for children from poor families and the orphaned ones at Kudipatty Vilakku, Madurai Dist.Tamil Nadu. Every child who comes to Daya Vihar gets a homely atmosphere with brothers and sisters. They get love, care and security they need. Above all they experience the love of Jesus Christ. Additionally the Daya Vihar ministry extends to caring for the elderly folks and widows.

The mission challenge for this month is to pray for and participate in the Daya Vihar ministry. As in all similar ministries, this work is built upon faith and prayer. Let us uphold their spiritual and worldly needs to the throne where our God is the Father to the Fatherless….
