Section49.99-Writingnameonballot
1.Thevotermayalsowriteonthelineprovidedforwrite-invotesthenameofanyperson forwhomthevoterdesirestovoteandmarkthevotingtargetoppositethename Ifthevoter isusingavotingsystemotherthananopticalscanvotingsystem,asdefinedinsection521, thewritingofthenameshallconstituteavalidvoteforthepersonwhosenamehasbeen writtenontheballotwithoutregardtowhetherthevoterhasmadeamarkoppositethe name.However,whenawrite-invoteiscastusinganopticalscanvotingsystem,theballot mustalsobemarkedinthecorrespondingspaceinordertobecounted.Markingthevoting targetoppositeawrite-inlinewithoutwritinganameonthelineshallnotaffectthevalidity oftheremainderoftheballot.
2.Ifavoterwritesthenameofapersonmorethanonceintheproperplacesonaballotfor anofficetowhichmorethanonepersonistobeelected,allbutoneofthosevotesforthat personforthatofficearevoidandshallnotbecounted
