Itinerary:
DAY 01 LJUBLJANA AIRPORT - MANSION JEZERSEK Upon arrival to Ljubljana Airport you will be transfered to Mansion Jezersek. Here treasures of Slovenian cuisine are offered in a modern way, yet the culinary heritage of our ancestors is fully preserved. Gourmets can enjoy a full range of top quality wines from all three wine regions in Slovenia.Overnight in Ljubljana. (D)
DAY 02 MANSION JEZERSEK - SOLCAVSKO – OLIMIA SPA Breakfast at hotel. This morning drive to Kamnik and Gornji Grad to visit the church in Gornji Grad. In 1140 a Benedictine Monastery was built in the settlement that later became the summer residence of the Bishops of Ljubljana. The Baroque parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saints Hermagoras and Fortunatus. It is a large church with a dome over its transept. It contains 18th century altar paintings and the tombs of the first Bishops of Ljubljana. Further to Ljubno ob Savinji till Solcava for a stop at centre Rinka with a small museum and a shop of local products. Enjoy the lunch at a tourist farm »Govc« in Robanov kot. It is a peaceful place, placed in the middle of beautiful national park in quiet nature, far away from main roads. Many tourists that visit the Logar valley can’t pass by this small place filled with beautiful farms scattered all over, great forests and high mountains that give “Robanov kot” a special breathtaking effect. Continue to Logarska Valley with optional visit to waterfall Rinka. Drive through Celje to Olimia Spa. Enjoy the dinner at Inn »Amon«.Family wine business Amon is the oldest in Slovenia. In their wine cellar the wide selection of wines form Virstajn surrounding is matured. The collection is enriched with noble predicate and archival wines and unique selection of wines for gifts. Their restaurant offers dishes prepared according to traditional recipes, special attention is put also on health, ecological dishes. As Amon’s farm obtained special certificate for ecological farming, the cookers in the restaurant get ingredients for bio menus directly from their own vegetable and fruit gardens. All pasta, “cmiki”, dumplings, gnocchi, pates are home made. Special “vinoladas” are prepared from wine and fruits, every day a fresh home made bread, sometimes also lamb, sausages, ducks or wild game are prepared in traditional stone oven. Cookers are proud of their delicious soups and stews. All home made products can be bought in their store called “Trgovinica pri babici” (Grandma’s store). (B,L,D).
DAY 03 OLIMIA SPA – RIVER KOLPA – DOLENJSKE TOPLICE SPA Breakfast at hotel. This morning drive to Bizeljsko for a visit of »Repnica Sekoranja« (underground storage of wine) with degustation of local wines. Continue to Kolpa river for rafting. After enjoy lunch in Inn “Pri Madronicu” and continue to Dolenjske Spa for overnight. (B,L,D).
DAY 04 DOLENJSKE TOPLICE SPA – KRKA VALLEY – CERKNICA – IDRIJA – NOVA GORICA Breakfast at hotel. Today you will drive to Valley of Krka, through Cerknica with a short stop at the intermittend Cerknisko lake. Further to »Divje jezero« lake before Idrija and continue to Idrija. Enjoy lunch at Inn Kos with taste of the local specialities. After lunch you will have a guided tour of Idrija, the town that quicksilver has built. Visit Antony’s mine shaft (Antonijev rov), five secturies old and the earliest part of an extensive tunnel network below Idrija (800 km). Visit Lace School (Cipkarska sola) next to Town Hall. Idrija is slovenia’s largest and best-known centre of lacemaking. Drive to Nova Gorica for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)
DAY 05 NOVA GORICA – SOCA VALLEY – VRSIC – BLED Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Tolmin for a visit of Tolmin Gorge. Degustation of cheese and cottage cheese at a tourist farm next to Tolmin Gorge. Further to Fortress Kluze and drive through Vrsic Pass to Bled. Dinner and overnigh in Bled. (B,D)
DAY 06 BLED – MANSION JEZERSEK Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Bled for guided tour including the entrance to Bled Castle. Take a pletna boat to visit the Church on the island. After some free time in Bled depart to Radovljica to visit Apicultural Museum and further to Kropa to visit Iron Forging Museum. After return to Mansion Jezersek for farewell Slovenian dinner and overnight. (B,D)
DAY 07 MANSION JEZERSEK – LJUBLJANA - LJUBLJANA APT Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Ljubljana for city tour. Enjoy time at leisure in Slovenia’s capital, free for shopping. Lunch at Castle Restaurant. Transfer to Ljubljana airport for flight back home. End of services. (B,L)
