Team-Building Experiences

TEAM-BUILDING EXPERIENCES CENTRAL OREGON IS AN ADVENTUROUS PLACE FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES to explore and experience activities that can bond teams, break down barriers and help everyone grow more comfortable working together.

summer

When the sun is high in the sky, Central Oregonians like to spend time outdoors, on the water, heading to the mountains for biking and hiking, as well as enjoying time on the golf course. Teamwork is easily built on the rapids when everyone is contributing to the paddling. The Big Eddy Thriller rafting trip with Sun Country Tours is an exciting morning or afternoon adventure departing from Sunriver or Bend. Deschutes River Adventures in Maupin offers guided whitewater rafting tours for groups of varying sizes, up to 35 people. In the summer, Mt. Bachelor offers a zipline tour, where groups can fly down from the top of Pine Marten Lift around 1,400 vertical feet while overlooking some incredible views. There is no limit on group size for the ziplines, but there are only two available slots at a time, so smaller groups are recommended. At Outriders Northwest, schedule an ATV tour of the nearby landscape. These tours are offered in two-hour and four-hour sessions, and allow riders the chance to pilot a four-seater RZR ATV on varied terrain. During the summer, Outriders NW can accommodate around 50 guests at a time, and can accommodate groups larger than that, so long as they can be split up and ride at different times throughout the day. A trusted name in the Central Oregon tour industry is Wanderlust Tours. During the summer, the company offers guided kayaking and canoeing tours for up to 75 people. While all of the tours can bring teams together, the most team-focused activity is the GPS Eco-Challenge, a huge, collaborative scavenger hunt that features physical and mental challenges for teams to work through together. Central Oregon is a sun-drenched golfer’s paradise, with 30 courses within 30 miles of Bend. Courses at Pronghorn Resort, Sunriver Resort and Tetherow are listed among the top 100 in the country by Golf Digest. Learn more about all the courses at centraloregongolftrail.com. 4

Team-Building Experiences

winter

When the snow has fallen, people are ready to get out and play. Bring the team together with some of these fun winter activities. Snowmobiles can provide unbeatable access to snowy terrain and beautiful views, while offering an adrenaline rush for those that crank the gas while exploring. Check out tours offered by Central Oregon Adventures. Each guide leads up to six snowmobile riders at a time, and the company has enough guides to accomodate groups of 36 total. Guides are local experts with knowledge of the backcountry. For a non-motorized activity to accommodate

AC TI VI TI ES

groups of any size, consider a guided snowshoeing tour. Offered by both Mt. Bachelor and Wanderlust Tours, snowshoeing can be an incredible way to get a team out in nature to experience the peace and tranquility of a winter wonderland. As a low-impact activity, this is a great option for teams who are looking for light exercise and wonderful views. Central Oregon is also home Oregon Adapative Sports, an adaptive sports organization offering year-round outdoor recreation experiences to people with disabilities, including winter activities at Mt. Bachelor and Hoodoo Ski Area.

Year-round

Options for group activities year-round include exploring the region’s craft brewery scene, biking or spelunking in local caves. Hop-heads will love touring the Deschutes Brewery facility for a behind the scenes look at some of their favorite beers. Wanderlust Tours offers The Local Pour, a guided experience with facility tours and beer, wine and spirits tasting at three stops. Bike tours are available in various forms year-round, including e-bike tours from Let It Ride in downtown Bend and guided mountain biking or winter fat biking rides from Cog Wild. Lasty, try a spelunking tour with Wanderlust Tours to delve deep into some of the local cave systems.

LOCAL EVENT SUPPLIERS MEETING PLANNERS WILL FEEL AT EASE PLANNING A CONFERENCE OR EVENT IN CENTRAL OREGON, thanks to support available from a variety of local event coordinators, planners, rental services and audio/visual professionals.

planners and coordinators

Central Oregon’s experienced pool of professional event planners can offer full service event planning to handle all the details or a-la-carte support for coordinators. Companies like Bend’s Shine Events offer hourly consultations that can provide local insights and advice, or offer full-service planning for team-building corporate retreats. Companies including Events by Mint, Britt & Bixby Events and Curated Events specialize in planning and hosting corporate events in a fun and comfortable manner that attendees love. Curated Events even boasts an inventory of plush, comfortable seating available for event rental. Bend’s Amanda Claire & Company helps companies keep their audience in mind when planning conferences, product launches and sales meetings and can support meeting planners as they navigate venue contracts, manage lodging and food and beverage for attendees and help with room set up and break down during events. Many of these local planners, as well as venues, juggle a busy summer wedding season in Central Oregon, so it’s recommended that event coordinators reach out early to confirm availability.

rentals

While many local venues offer full-service packages for event hosting, sometimes a-lacarte rentals are what’s needed to ensure a particular dinner or breakout session serves it purpose. Connect with local companies including Incredible Events, Bend Party Rentals, Central Event Rentals and O’Brien Events, each offering a full catalog of rentals including tables, chairs and tents. West Coast Event Productions, based in Portland but serving Central Oregon, offers both rentals and event design, with a catalog of meeting-focused items like podiums, room dividers and easels to hold schedule and breakout room information.

For venues where additional audio and visual equipment is needed, local professionals can provide equipment and operators. Hand in Hand Productions in Bend offers audio and visual rentals and support, and live streaming of events. Flip Flop Sounds of Bend offers sound, lighting, video and staging for events, and Audio Visual Bend rents projectors, portable sound systems and podiums and provides support for digital signage and kiosks. Star Productions out of Sunriver offers DJ services for awards banquets, team-building events and more. 20
