EXPLORE ART
Key to My Heart (photo by Eriech Tapia)
Edmond’s art scene is thriving with more than 260 pieces of public art. Some are in plain sight and others are tucked away and best admired on foot. There is art for everyone with a diverse mix of sculpture, murals and interactive pieces to explore.
SCULPTURES
The sculptures scattered throughout the city invite conversations.
Sutton Betti’s “Gold
Star Wife” is a bronze art piece located at Gracelawn Cemetery. This beautiful piece honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and depicts the wife of a fallen soldier, kneeling in solitude while holding a folded American flag.
Interactive pieces throughout Downtown Edmond encourage the beholder to help the art achieve its purpose. An interactive experience, Key to My Heart encourages hanging a lock on the letters to symbolically display everlasting love. Leave a mark on Route 66 by participating in this activity. Locks are available for purchase at several Downtown Edmond businesses.
“I designed this piece for more than visual attraction. It will encourage people to touch and interact with the art, but also engage with local businesses. Most importantly, everyone needs a little more L-O-V-E in their life.” - Zonly Looman, artist
The I’m Grateful Wall at 1st and Broadway encourages us to cherish the people and things that matter. Grab a piece of chalk and share what you’re grateful for, or take a moment to see what others wrote before you.
