We provide a place to connect, create
memories, and celebrate. From families with young children to multigenerational groups to families

FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN
The Donahue Family Our family has called Fort Wayne home for most of our lives. We enjoy the numerous parks, local dining options, and the revitalized downtown. We recently moved downtown to be closer to many of our favorite spots and activities.
Family-friendly and accessibility are key factors for the Donahue Family. Some of their favorite Fort Wayne recommendations include: Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, especially with their many accessible features and rides like the Z.O. & O. Railroad and the Endangered Species carousel. Public Art Around almost every corner in Fort Wayne, there is public art, and we enjoy searching for it along the Fort Wayne Public Art Trail.
Taylor’s Dream Boundless Playground It’s easy to enjoy this inclusive accessible playground at Kreager Park. Sports! We love sporting events like TinCaps baseball, Komet Hockey, and Fort Wayne FC games! Botanical Conservatory With their interactive displays, great photo ops, and beautiful scenery, we love to explore the Botanical Conservatory.

I can’t recommend the best of Fort Wayne without highlighting Downtown Fort Wayne (or “DTFW” as the locals call it). All five of these locations are within a few blocks of each other and no matter what day or time you are visiting, there is something on this list for you to enjoy. My husband and I have built our own family around local friends. They are made up of entrepreneurs, artists, teachers, small business owners, and creatives. I founded a digital marketing company in 2006 that keeps me busy each day promoting the best that Fort Wayne has to offer to a total social reach of over 400,000 followers. When we carve out time with friends, we focus on things like the local food scene, inclusive environments, nature, establishments that will stay open late, and a tasty cocktail (or two!). 32 | VisitFortWayne | 2024
Evening Hangout: @Proximofw Proximo stays open into the evening with a menu built around Latin fare, craft cocktails, and killer desserts. Some of my favorite dishes include their guacamole, guava glazed salmon, or a cocktail recommendation from the bartender. Saturday Lowkey Vibes: @YLNIfarmersmarket I love this market, especially during summer mornings each Saturday. Located at the corner of Barr Street and Berry Street, you will find yummy food, incredible coffee, fresh produce, flowers, and shopping options. Sunday Brunch: @TolonRestaurant I adore this place. Everyone knows my name and I have had endless dinners at Tolon with friends that are dear to my heart. Check out their Sunday farm-to-table brunch. I recommend the breakfast fried rice (with a 63 degree egg!) or delicious steak tacos. Nature Vibes: @RiverfrontFortWayne I have been active in watching our city return to the beauty of our rivers. At Promenade Park, you can rent a kayak from Fort Wayne Outfitters, take a stroll on the Parkview Tree Canopy Trail (with the best view of DTFW), enjoy a bite to eat, or connect to endless streets and trails. This is the perfect place to reconnect with nature without leaving the city. Late Night Cocktails: @Penny.Drip The food and cocktail menu found at Penny Drip is completely original and mind-blowing. I stop by most mornings for a nitro cold brew but also love to enjoy a cocktail here in the evening. They stay open later than most local establishments and it is a sweet spot for locals to connect with each other in a creative, low-key environment.

Jasmine Jennings @SmoothJasmine
I was born and raised here in Fort Wayne and graduated from Ball State University in 2016. I started working at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne after graduating and have been there for the past 7 years. I have a heart and passion for working with youth and for dancing. I danced with the Mad Ants for seven seasons and currently teach dance to students in UPAF (Unity Performing Arts Foundation). On top of that, I am a content creator. I enjoy sharing my goofiness and love of dance through social media. I started making TikToks during the pandemic and somehow ended up with 2 million followers. I don’t like to consider myself an influencer but I try to use my platform to spread joy and positivity. Favorite Brunch Spots - Hoppy Gnome & Junk Ditch These are two of my favorite spots to get brunch with my family and friends on the weekends. The service is always great and the food never disappoints! Fort Wayne has so many great brunch spots but these will always be my top two. Embassy Theatre Downtown Fort Wayne is one of my favorite places to be, especially during the Holiday season. One of my favorite traditions is going to the Festival of Trees with my family and getting to watch all of the Christmas performances. Promenade Park This is my favorite spot to hangout with friends! It’s the perfect place if you need a spot to sit and relax, but it’s also a great place to get up and get moving. When the weather is nice, my friends and I love to dance by the river and record TikToks with the scenic park views in the background. Jefferson Pointe Whenever I need to shop, this is my favorite place to go! Not only are there plenty of places to shop here, but also great places to eat or grab a refreshing snack. My mom and I love visiting DeBrand for their famous ice cream sundaes. Hotworx I consider Hotworx to be one of Fort Wayne’s hidden gems. The experience is so relaxing and different from most gyms as you’re doing a virtual workout by yourself in a sauna. There are two different locations here in Fort Wayne. It’s such a peaceful workout experience!

Vine’s Picks
1. Feeding the giraffes and riding the Z.O.&O. Railroad ride at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. 2. Any exhibit involving bones or digging at Science Central! Sometimes I even bring along an interesting rock and the staff helps me identify it. 3. Playing the arcade games and sliding down the two-story slide at Sweetwater. 4. Taylor’s Dream! I can get out of my wheelchair and move around, and it has options for kids who can’t get out of their chairs. I also love the splash pad! 5. Visiting Turnstone and watching the USA Paralympic Goalball teams practice. 6. Exploring the Saturday morning farmers markets! There’s always kid-friendly stuff to do, and both the YLNI Farmers Market and Ft. Wayne’s Farmers Market are fully wheelchair accessible. 7. Packing a picnic to enjoy at Promenade Park. The splash pad is so fun, and I love rolling my wheelchair across the Wells Street Bridge and exploring down by the water. 8. Seeing the waterfall and the giant plants at the Botanical Conservatory. 9. Enjoying a meal on the outdoor patio at my favorite restaurant – the Hoppy Gnome!
Vine was born with a rare medical condition called OEIS Complex, and Spina Bifida is part of the condition. 10-year-old Vine is a fulltime wheelchair user and loves to get out and be active! He does everything other kids do, but in his own way. His best friend is his cousin Kamy, who was born with childhood apraxia of speech. They have a YouTube channel, youtube.com/@KVTVShow, where they show everyone how they do things just a little differently...and being different is okay!
