People smile and wave at you and nothing feels better. It’s the freedom and the fun of it. And when you see somewhere gorgeous, you can just pull over, put the kettle on and make a cup of tea. Everyone finds their own favourite secret spot.”

Q. Do you have to stay in a campsite? “We recommend it – as going to the loo in the night, and getting stung on the bottom by stinging nettles, is not for everyone. However some people do their own thing, and open the curtains in the morning to sunshine and a lovely beach. That’s a life experience.”

Q. Did you camp with your family? “Yes - when you’re outside in the open air, there’s a feeling of freedom that you don’t get cooped up in a stuffy hotel. Also it’s a really social way to take a holiday and you can make new friends that last a lifetime. The kids absolutely love it and if the children are happy, you’re happy!”
