DZINTARI FOREST PARK Dzintari Forest Park is the right place to enjoy a touch of winter. Besides, it is located in the very heart of the city. Footpaths winding through snow-covered pine-trees will lead you to three different children’s playgrounds and to Jūrmala’s only 36 m high watchtower, which offers a fantastic bird’s-eye view of the city. This is a great opportunity to rise above the pine tops and get the feel of Jurmala’s vastness. In springtime, the park is crowded by skaters and roller-skaters who have a large skate park and a roller-skating trail here. In addition, on May 1st, adventure park “Jūrmalas Tarzāns” will open its doors to visitors again. During wintertime in suitable weather conditions, there is a ski run available for skiing in ski-skating technique. “Dzintari Forest Park” is located in Dzintari, the section between Meža Prospekts, Rembates Street and Madonas Street. BEACH IN WINTER Jūrmala beach, which stretches 25 km, will certainly attract active hikers, runners, skiers or cyclers. The main thing is to choose adequate clothes and equipment, and your day will definitely be successful. If you prefer a more peaceful stroll, we suggest that you should go for a walk along a lit beach footpath from Turaidas Street in Dzintari to Ērgļu Street in Majori. In winter, use the only 22 km long beach cross-country ski track in Latvia intended for classic cross-country skiing and leads through the whole city. The number of cyclists increases also in winter. Besides, if you do not want to use your own bicycle, the bike rental‘s “Sixt” bicycles are available this year in Jūrmala all year round. More information www.visitjurmala.lv
