The newest member of the family of cruise ships on Lake George is a remarkable blend of turn-of-the-century design and state-of-the-art technology. Modeled after late 19th century touring ships, The Adirondac offers two-hour scenic bay cruises with an a la carte luncheon menu; Lake George dinner cruises with a buffet dinner and entertainment; or the incredible 2.5-hour-long fireworks cruise.

Built almost entirely out of mahogany, teak, and yellow pine, this beautiful ship is glass enclosed on the first two decks for a protected and scenic cruise in any weather. Choose from hour-long, captain-narrated sightseeing cruises; evening sunset cruises with light snacks and beverages; and exciting family fireworks cruises. Light fare and beverages are available on the 1.5hour long cruise.
LAKE GEORGE STEAMBOAT CO:RAPIDS
Whitewater Tubing
A host of Lake George Area rafting companies also offer whitewater and lazy river tubing. Whitewater tubing is an extreme excursion for adept swimmers—get up close to the rapids of the Sacandaga River on a tubing trip with Sacandaga Outdoor Center.
Lazy river tubing is a popular alternative for those who prefer to relax on the river instead, slowly drifting on gentle currents and stopping at a sandbar for a quick swim. Take a leisurely float down the Hudson River with Adirondack Adventure Center and Tubby Tubes Co. out of Lake Luzerne. Beaver Brook Outfitters also offers these outings along a stretch of the Hudson that winds through North Creek. Lazy river tubing is both a family- and large groupfriendly outdoor adventure intended for cooling off during the heat waves of the summer.
Whitewater Rafting
From spring to fall, adventure seekers flock to raft the white-capped rapids along the Hudson and Sacandaga Rivers. These two distinct waterways provide an exhilarating challenge for paddlers with conditions ranging from easy and relaxing to difficult and raging.
The Hudson River offers some of the most rip-roaring rafting in the country. Conquering “The Mighty Hudson” requires rafters to battle cold, churning Class III to Class V rapids as the Hudson swells each spring with the snowmelt.
When summer heat lowers the water to more manageable levels, the Hudson River becomes one of the best natural attractions in the southern Adirondacks.
The Sacandaga River offers great whitewater for beginners. Slow-flowing, dam-released Class I and Class II rapids ensure safe, family-friendly adventure. Traverse this four-mile stretch just above the confluence of the Hudson and Sacandaga that holds swirling eddies and gentle pools for a lazier river ride.
Whitewater rafting continues through Columbus Day weekend. Fall sets the riverbanks ablaze with color and rafters get a front row seat to these striking displays of foliage.
Highly experienced rafting companies and certified guides on both rivers double as narrators with knowledge of local history and geography. Several outfitters lead overnight rafting trips into the Hudson River Gorge, where they’ll set up camp at a primitive site to sleep under the stars and provide you with meals between runs on the river.
Wakeboards, Water Skis, and Tubing. Hang on tight as the boat carves across the water’s surface, fresh water splashing your face and excitement coming out in shouts and giggles.
Jet Skis. Cruise past the luxury properties at the water’s edge, or hit crazy speeds on the open water—maybe even grab a little air.
Parasailing. Feel like you are flying above the sparkling blue water with a bird’s eye view of the surrounding Adirondack Mountains.
Paddling. Strap on a lifejacket to make memories that will last a lifetime exploring coves, river bends, and islands by canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard.
Boat Rentals. Don’t own a boat? You can still captain your vacation by heading to one of the area’s numerous marinas to rent a finely-tuned watercraft. Or, book a watersport boat tour, fishing charter, or luxury sightseeing cruise.
Sail Boats. Nothing says nautical luxury like stepping aboard a sailing vessel bound for a day basking in breezes on the open water.
Pack a bathing suit and a picnic for the full experience!
Swimming. Opt for a shallow, sandy beach, a swimming hole bordered by sun-warmed rocks, or ask a local guide to show you the best cliff-jumping spots in the area. 1 5 3 7 2 6 4

VISTAS & VIEWS MUST-SEE SCENERY
In the hiking world, the view or vista at the end of the hike is often called “bang for the buck,” a term of endearment for the payoff earned by the effort to get there.
Hikes that require less exertion or time but still offer great scenery provide more bang for the buck. Warren County offers a wealth of opportunities to enjoy amazing Adirondack scenery without an all-day march through the woods or gravity-defying scramble over rocks. Here are some of the best views from short hikes in the region.
Bartonville Mountain, Horicon – At less than 1.5 miles round trip, this hike offers a view of Brant Lake for minimal effort. There is 568 feet of elevation gain for a steady uphill trudge.
Panther Mountain, Chestertown – This preserve, off Theriot Avenue, takes users to a ledge that faces west to view Gore Mountain, Crane Mountain and more. This hike is 2.4-miles round trip with 663 feet of elevation gain. This part of the Chester Challenge of hikes is closed during big-game hunting season in October and November.
The Pinnacle, Bolton – A trip to the Lake George Area is not complete without a walk to The Pinnacle, a ledge that overlooks Lake George. You can also combine a hike to The Pinnacle with a trip to Bradley’s Lookout, accessible from the Pinnacle Trailhead, for a total of about 3 miles, or a trip just to Bradley’s Lookout amounts to a little over a mile and a half round-trip.
Thirteenth Lake, Johnsburg, NYSwede Mountain Fire Tower, Hague
– This hike ends at a refurbished fire tower owned by Warren County that offers great views to the west and north. The hike, closed September through December, is less than 2 miles round trip, accessible from NY State Route 8 between Brant Lake and Hague.
Thirteenth Lake, Johnsburg – This beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains, can be viewed with just a short walk from a trailhead off Thirteenth Lake Road.
For those who would rather see vistas from the comfort of their vehicle, some spots offer the option to take in amazing scenery from a car. Favorites include Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway in the Town of Lake George, the roadside view, Sabbath Day Point Overlook, on northern Lake George from NY State Route 9N near Tongue Mountain, and NY State Route 8 between Brant Lake and Hague

AREA OF INSPIRATION
The sparkling waters, boundless silence, and mind-clearing fresh air of the Lake George Area have inspired artists and creative thinkers for centuries. It’s no surprise, then, that some of the country’s most remarkable and diverse art and entertainment thrive right here, and form an essential part of the area’s identity.
Gl en s Fall s Ar t s Tra i l
Follow the emerging Arts Trail through downtown Glens Falls, “Hometown USA,” brought to you by the Arts District of Glens Falls. Established and emerging artists are known to hang out around Glens Falls as they “paint the town”—literally. Hannah Williams and Jesse Melanson are the artists behind the 20 Warren Street and 144 Glen Street murals, respectively. The vibrant scenes on these downtown buildings creatively depict quintessential aspects of our region, including local wildlife.
Off Glen Street, Chicago-based artists Michael Ferrarell and Nicholas Capozzoli have painted 30 small murals in the alleyway between the Charles R. Wood Theater and Spot Coffee that piece together the story of Glens Falls. Walking down the alley that connects to Lapham Place, you’ll be able to point out worldfamous “Dirt Dogs” from New Way Lunch, The Adirondack Red Wings, and so much more that makes up the city’s rich history. Along the way, spot all the electrical boxes that have been disguised as murals, all hand painted by local artists.
You can’t miss the installation of the oversized Adirondack chair outside of Fountain Square Outfitters. The chair, depicting Glen Street on a blue-sky day, was crafted by the Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne and hand painted by Glens Falls-based artist Anthony Richichi.
Most of these stops are within an easy walking distance to each other; no longer than 5 to 15 minutes apart. Just follow the Arts District of Glens Falls sidewalk stamps that act as trail markers.

Setting in motion a movement of public art at The Shirt Factory Annex on Curran Lane is the “Space Whale” project. Since the completion of the “Space Whale,” The Shirt Factory has transformed its grounds into a Muralgarten as a means to restore and preserve existing buildings and industrial structures in the area of Maple Street through murals. Shipping containers have been transported in for projects, with some having been completed during a Mural-a-thon event held in the summer of 2023. There are also plans to have the Muralgarten landscaped with native plants for the benefit of our local pollinators.
During your search for public art, you’ll most likely wind up in Lake George, where Village officials have teamed up with the Lake George Arts Project on Project: Power Up Lake George. Five local artists got out their paintbrushes and transformed four traffic signal boxes around the Village into standout murals. Identify fish species that inhabit Lake George, wildlife living among Adirondack landscapes, and some very neon flora. 1 2

As you head farther north, the VFW at 3574 Main St., which also houses the Warrensburgh Museum of Local History, boasts two large murals on either side of the building. One mural depicts colorful scenes from the early days of Warrensburg, celebrating “A Town In Harmony With Its Past.” The 70-foot-long mural was painted in 1976 by the late writer, art historian, and artist, Eva S. Cockcroft, and was fully restored in 2007 by Mary Lovendusky.
The opposite side of the building is covered by a billowing American Flag, painted by traveling artist Scott LoBaido, who has devoted his career to a patriotic cross-country road trip to paint a mural on a veteran service building in each of the 50 states. The VFW building was stop number 34 and took LoBaido 60 gallons of paint to complete. T
If you travel into North Creek, local artist Kate Hartley has brought the community together to complete The North Creek Mosaic Project. After 10 years and 200,000 carefully placed tiles, the mosaic flows right down Main Street and depicts regional activities with native wildlife hidden throughout.

Island Camping
A one-of-a-kind escape can be found in the middle of the “Queen of American Lakes” on 44 state-owned islands accessible only by boat. Pitch a tent at one of 387 sites located in the Narrow Islands/Mother Bunch Group, Glen Island Group, or on Long Island. Island campers can fish and bird watch right from their campsite, or venture from the island and into the bays of Lake George that function as perfect swimming holes. Each site has a decent amount of privacy and includes a firepit, picnic table, and dock.
Glamping
Glamping, or “glamorous camping,” is for those who don’t want to part with modern amenities while spending time in the great outdoors. Huttopia Adirondacks is a luxury glamping destination nestled at the base of Kenyon Mountain, only 10 minutes from Lake George Village.
North River Hobby Farm is a peaceful glamping getaway only eight miles from Gore Mountain with amenities like a wood-fired pizza oven and traditional Japanese Sento with breathtaking views.
Adirondack Safari is a premier glampground on the bank of the Schroon River featuring stylish tents and a number of daily activities for glampers to partake in.

WARREN COUNTY FISH HATCHERY
TOURS · STOCKING REPORT · PICNIC PAVILIONS
The fish hatchery has been in operation since the early 1900's and is open for self-guided tours. There is also a visitors center with information and history of the hatchery. Raised here are brook and rainbow trout, as well as Atlantic salmon. You will love seeing all the fish, and there is a display pond of full grown fish that can be fed with pellets, purchased at a quarter for a handful.

Let me tell you a bit about Hague: We are a small town in northeastern New York on the shores of beautiful Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains. It would be hard to find a more perfect place to vacation with friends and family And for me, it’s the perfect place to live.
We offer a wide variety of attractions and activities year round: marinas with boat & personal watercraft rentals, quaint gift shops, two general stores, and a variety of accommodations ranging from B&B’s to motels to waterfront resorts.
In the warmer seasons you can enjoy hiking and biking on our mountain trails or set out on a charter fishing adventure. In the winter, we offer groomed snowmobile and cross country ski trails, some of which are lit at night. But don’t just take my word for what a special place this is. Come see for yourself, and start creating your own family memories.
We hope to see you soon in Hague, where the people are friendly, the lake is idyllic and life is good - all year-round!!!
