Why Lincoln L I N C O Loves Kids

MUMS

EMMA CRELLIN , LINCOLN MU

MS EDITOR Lincoln has a little of everything for kids of all ages. I asked my two children how they would spend a week seeing the best of Lincoln and this is what they said…

Day 1: History before your eyes. We love the walk up Steep Hill (it really is steep!) to the first sights of Castle Square. See if you can see the top of the Cathedral, take a backpack and do a children’s tour. In the Castle we love the walk around the walls, spotting familiar places far away and visiting the Victorian prison. Always best followed by cake or ice cream!

Day 2: Back to Nature. So many parks and green spaces in a short distance from small hidden playgrounds to large country parks. A favourite way to spend the day is to do a park crawl by car or bus – we have managed 8 in one day once! Day 3: Bomber County. We love to call in at the inspiring Bomber Command Memorial for some fantastic city views and moving modern history… or why not try an RAF100 Trail. Look to the skies and if you are lucky you might see the Red Arrows in action! Day 4: Shop til you drop! With a great combination of small boutique style shops for that special something or all of your favourite stores at St Marks or the Waterside, Lincoln is a great place to shop (being honest this one’s maybe more for me without kids!) Day 5: Getting active. Lincoln is great for cycling as it’s flat and ideal for a family bike ride. We love to swim at the choice of indoor and outdoor pools , we are just discovering tennis and golf and there’s Ove r 40 offe rs andin disc oun a great family atmosphere the Junior Imps at Lincoln Cityents! ts stand for loca l par Football Club too! Day 6: Crafts and culture. Lincoln’s museums have a variety of (mainly

free)all activities, trailslatest and play areas where you can learn theactivities fun and events news, of the For way! We love to play at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and to make visit: mosaics and coin rubbings at The Collection.

Day 7: Play or choose! If we have any energy to spare, then time for a kids favourite – soft play! Lots to choose from, from smaller areas for little ones. Otherwise we look at what’s on – there are always festivals, markets and hidden gems to explore.
