Magna Carta Wall

Lincolnshire is England’s fourth largest county and it is easy to see why we are one of the top 10 must-see destinations for 2016 as voted for by The Telegraph. A bustling city centre, 50 miles of picturesque coastline, world class heritage sites, rolling hills, sumptuous local foods and big skies that are home to many aviation stories past and present. Over 1,000 years of history lives on at Lincoln Castle, home to 1215 Magna Carta and 1217 Charter of the Forest. Walk in the footsteps of past kings along the 360 degree wall walk through castle towers and explore the Victorian Prison. Lincoln Cathedral boasts views like no other over the Lincolnshire countryside. Stand in awe in the Cathedral Nave and reflect whist listening to the majestic sounds of the Cathedral Choir. A Joint Ticket to the Cathedral and Castle is a great value for money way to explore these two sites. The Mayflower Pilgrims began their journey here in Lincolnshire and neighbouring Nottinghamshire. Explore Gainsborough Old Hall and visit The Boston Guildhall and the churches of Babworth and Scrooby to find out more about their story. Explore Lincolnshire’s Historic Houses Burghley House at Stamford welcomes the four day horse trails and has stunning gardens; Doddington Hall near Lincoln is a privately owned Elizabethan House with beautiful gardens, farm shop café, a designer interior @visitlincoln

boutique and new Giant Bike Store. Belton House at Grantham is one of four National Trust properties in the county - ideal for family days out and at Grimsthorpe Castle you can enjoy the grounds on hire bikes. For foodie lovers Lincolnshire is rich in local delicacies and many restaurants and cafes serve local Lincolnshire produce – look out for the Select Lincolnshire for Food badge proudly displayed in widows across the county. Don’t miss the famous Lincolnshire Sausage, Lincolnshire Plum Bread and of course Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese - and the slightly more unusual Haslet and Chine. Children will love the family fun farm attractions - Daisy Made Ice Cream near Lincoln, Rand Farm Park and many other attractions will keep the family entertained for hours. Getting out on a bike is a great way to explore the county. The Water Rail Way links Lincoln and Boston and there are waymarked Sustrans routes you can enjoy. Walkers will love Stepping Out in the countryside south of Lincoln, follow the long distance footpath the Viking Way, take part in the Wolds Walking Festival and enjoy the Spires & Steeples challenge. /visitlincoln
