Must-Visit Restaurants
Treat your taste buds to some South American Flavours; make sure you try Mambo Jambo in Norwich Lanes where you’ll feel like you’re in the heart of Mexico! Take a stroll through Chapelfield Gardens to experience Pedro’s TexMex Cantina where you’ll find generous portions and a lively atmosphere. For a taste of India head to Opie Street where Namaste serve up vegetarian and vegan Indian dishes, or dine at their new, larger premises on Queens Road – a result of their enormous success!

For fans of American cuisine, look no further than Zak’s Authentic American Diners – they have three locations in Norwich to choose from and serve up succulent burgers with mouth-watering toppings. For modern British and mixed cuisine make sure you try Roger Hickman’s (the only restaurant in Norwich to hold an AA 3 Rosette Award), The Library (sample their delicious brasserie menu and a tasty cocktail menu), and The Last Wine Bar (with an inviting atmosphere and a wonderful blend of innovative and classic dishes), all in the heart of the city. Kemp’s Restaurant at Norwich Theatre Royal and Debut at Norwich City College both offer relaxed dining with varied and seasonal menus, whilst The Waffle House’s inventive toppings and amazing desserts must be experienced! For fish ‘n’ chips with a difference head to Grosvenor Fish Bar, in the heart of the Norwich Lanes, where you’ll find the classic favourites as well as more unusual combinations with a quirky twist!

Cafés & Coffee Houses
Sitting in a café and watching the city buzz around you is a great way to spend a few hours (or longer!). Norwich is blessed with an impressive selection of independent cafés, tearooms and coffee houses, so whether you want an Americano to kick-start the day or a relaxing and indulgent afternoon of tea and cake, we think we’ve found the best venues for your caffeine fix. One of the most historic cafés in the city is the thatched Britons Arms Coffee House and Restaurant. Situated in Elm Hill, part of the city’s beautiful Cathedral Quarter (one of the most picturesque areas of the city), the restaurant is a year-round attraction, benefitting from both a cosy log fire and a summer garden. If you’re looking for a café with a big helping of culture, head to The Refectory at Norwich Cathedral where you can look out at the stunning Norman spire as you enjoy your lunch – all made from local and seasonal produce. For another ‘unique-to-Norwich’ experience, head to Jarrold Department store on London Street. Stop for a bite to eat while you’re shopping; you’ll be spoilt for choice with three popular restaurants – Benji’s, The Pantry and Café Metro – plus their quirky coffee shop Chapters!

Café Britannia, based at Norwich Prison, has fast become one of Norwich’s most popular daytime eateries serving British cuisine in a shabby-chic setting. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea with some truly spectacular views out over the city! Louis’ Deli on Upper St Giles Street is the perfect spot to enjoy a hot drink and scrumptious snacks (or continental food to take away) with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. If you don’t fancy cooking that evening then check out their amazing delicatessen and chilled food sections too – all ready to take away for later!

Countryside Pubs A day exploring the Norfolk countryside should always be teamed with a relaxed lunch or indulgent dinner - there’s plenty of wonderful eateries outside of the city. There are lots of lovely pubs and eateries to try in South Norfolk’s delightful market towns: Harleston, Wymondham, Diss and also Loddon, where you’ll find The Swan. It’s a must-visit for foodies – they serve up delicious dishes made with local and seasonal produce, all of which can be devoured in their delightful courtyard area. The Walpole Arms in Itteringham, North Norfolk, combines historic charm with modern flavours. Their dinner menu showcases locally produced, seasonal ingredients which change depending on the season; look out for Cromer crab, Wood Farm asparagus and pheasant – all local favourites! A trip to the Broads National Park should always include a break at the Waveney Inn, situated on the edge of the Norfolk/Suffolk marshes at Burgh St. Peter. With picturepostcard views over the Waveney River Centre Marina and serving delicious food in three sizes (small, regular and large to suit your appetite), you can dine with a view all year round!
