Museum Trail 1 - Visit the Museums of Molong, Yeoval, Parkes & Eugowra From Orange, head to Molong and visit the Molong Historical Museum. Turn left onto Banjo Paterson Way and head to Yeoval via Cumnock to visit the Banjo Paterson Museum. From Yeoval, head to Parkes via Renshaw McGirr Way/Wellington Road to visit the Parkes Radio Telescope ‘The Dish’. Travel from Parkes to Eugowra and visit the Historical Society Museum/Gold History and view the renowned Escort Rock. Return from Eugowra to Orange via Cudal on the Escort Way.

Established : 1851 Famous for: A history of Go ld mining established du ring the gold ru sh of 1851.

Historical Milestones : The Lucknow goldfield was di scovered in 18 51, soon after Australia’s first payable gold wa s found at nearby Ophir. Th e entire mining area was owned by William Char les Wentworth ; the gold field was known as the Wentworth Field until the name Lucknow was adopted in 1863. Peaks in gold productio n occurred from 1860 through to 1899 and ag ain in the late 19 20s. At its peak in the 1880s – 18 90s Wentworth goldfield was one of the riche st in NSW.

Museum Trail 2 - Visit the Museums of Canowindra From Orange, head to Canowindra via Nashdale and Cargo on Cargo Road. In Canowindra, visit the Age of Fishes Museum, Canowindra Historical Museum and the historic buildings/bent Main St. Return from Canowindra to Orange via Cudal and Borenore.

Gold Rush - DISCOVER GOLD HISTORY 1 F rom Orange, head to Ophir Reserve where you can try your hand at panning for gold. 2 F rom Orange, head to Eugowra via Cudal to visit Escort Rock, where Australia’s largest gold robbery took place in 1862 by Frank Gardiner’s bushranger gang. Historical and scenic TRAIL through the Blayney Shire From Orange, head to Millthorpe via Lucknow on the Mitchell Hwy and turn right on the Millthorpe Rd. Stop and discover historic Millthorpe. Continue on to Blayney and travel out on Newbridge Rd towards Newbridge and visit the historical steam trains. Take the Three Brothers Rd, turn right onto Barry Rd, then left onto Barry/Neville Rd where you can visit the sleepy village of Neville as well as the Valley Piano Arts Café and historical Piano Museum. Continue on the Neville Rd and turn left on the Mandurama Rd to Mandurama. Once in Mandurama, enjoy a cup of tea at the General Store. Take the main road towards Lyndhurst. Travel out of Lyndhurst and turn right down Newry Downs Rd, turn right onto scenic Belubula Way which takes the traveller back to Mandurama. Travel on the Mid Western Hwy and to historic Carcoar. Visit the Stoke Stable, Toy, Hospital, Court House and Military Museums and St Paul’s Church. Take a picnic to the Kurt Fernley park besides Belubula River. Continue on Belubula St out of Carcoar and travel to Blayney. Stop by Carcoar Dam and view the Windfarm. Continue to Blayney and back to Orange via the scenic route. Take a left turn on Browns Creek Rd and turn right onto Tallwood Rd until you reach an intersection. Turn right onto Tallwood Rd to Forest Reefs. Take the Forest Reefs Rd until Forest Rd which enters Orange near the Orange Base Hospital.
