How To Live • Centrally located in the gorgeous Okanagan Valley
Lifestyle The Okanagan lifestyle is “active when you want, relax when you wish”. In Penticton you will find a welcoming community and a climate that has the winter slipping by with ease. The mountains block Arctic winds from reaching Penticton and the bit of cloud cover keeps the temperatures mild. Snow depths of greater than 1cm are seen on about 35 days each year, compared to Calgary which sees 88 days or Ottawa at 120 days of snow!
• More time to enjoy life - instead of spending hours in traffic • Keeping fit and active is easy in Penticton • A mild winter climate • A variety of accommodation options
All this lovely weather makes enjoying both outdoor and indoor activities simple and attractive. Getting out of the house for errands or some shopping does not mean bundling up with mittens, hats and scarves. Penticton offers the best of all worlds; a friendly, relaxed, small town feel with all the amenities you might expect of a larger centre. The city is home to a regional hospital, public transportation and several shopping centres. Penticton is just 10 minutes south of picturesque Summerland, 1 hour south of the larger community of Kelowna and four hours east of Vancouver. All of this tucked between the scenic shores of Lake Okanagan and Skaha Lake – ready for you to call home forever, or just for a few months.
Enjoy carefree living in the Okanagan year round! Let us do all the work – you do the living... Book your tour and complimentary lunch today. cherryparkretirement.ca 250.492.2447

Where To Go • Take in the Okanagan Symphony • Sign-up for courses in pottery, painting, culinary arts and more at the Shatford Centre • Experience amazing live music and food at the Dream Cafe • Enjoy a live show presented by the Many Hats Theatre Co. • Play bingo, take in a flick or relax with a book.
Entertainment Penticton as well as neighbouring Summerland are both rich with entertainment options; from art galleries to concerts to live theatre. The land-locked heritage paddle wheeler, S.S. Sicamous on the shores of Lake Okanagan boasts an immense scale model of the Kettle Valley Railway. The Museum on Main Street houses a permanent exhibit detailing the history of the city as well as rotating temporary displays. The Penticton Art Gallery features exhibits which change monthly and there are several galleries located in the downtown core which feature talented local artists. The South Okanagan Events Centre is home to the championship Junior “A” hockey team – The Vees. The events centre also hosts world renowned entertainment – Mama Mia, Celtic Thunder and many country artists to name a few.
Family run motel is centrally located on Skaha Lake Road with easy access to all amenities. Spacious ground floor kitchen units with separate bedroom. We look forward to hearing from you to book your stay with us. www.appletreeinn.ca 250-492-3029

The Okanagan Valley is renowned for its annual festivals and events – even in the winter months. The Penticton Santa Clause Parade, Summerland’s Festival of Lights, the Christmas Craft Faire and other Christmas markets will fill you with seasonal cheer. You will also have the opportunity to sample local wares at our many holiday open houses such as Light Up the Vines in Summerland, Holiday Cheer Open House in Okanagan Falls and Country Christmas in Similkameen.
What To Do
Outdoor Activities Penticton itself does not experience much in the way of an annual snowfall; however, just a 30 minute drive to Apex Mountain Ski Resort and you will find yourself in a winter wonderland. The resort offers downhill skiing, snowboarding and even skating through the trees along their 1km ice loop. Adjacent to Apex is Nickelplate, home to seemingly endless cross-country ski paths and snow shoe trails. Many days when there is cloud in the valley basin, taking a drive up the mountain will offer you that little boost of sunshine to make you smile.
• Outdoor skating rink on the shores of Lake Okanagan at the Penticton Lakeside Resort • Join a local hiking or snowshoeing group • Book a snowshoe dinner with Hoodoo Adventures • Cross-Country ski the marked trails up Carmi Road
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Two of the local golf courses stay open through the winter months, it’s not always perfect weather for this game – but is great for bragging rights to your friends back home. In addition, the Community Centre offers a “first day of winter” snowshoe tour: meet in the parking lot of the centre and head to wherever there happens to be snow. Personalized Sightseeing and Wine Tours
Walking is a great way to stay active and you will find many paths within the city that are flat and easy to navigate. The route alongside the River Channel, which connects Lake Okanagan and Skaha Lake is 7kms one way, perfect for walking Fido. Take a stroll along scenic Lakeshore Drive where the sidewalks have been recently updated to make them wider and smoother.

What To Do • Take advantage of one of the many gyms in Penticton or Summerland • Sign up for an aquatic fitness class at the Community Centre • Bring out the artist in you, take in a painting class • Join a team at the Penticton Curling Club
Indoor Activities Penticton offers many ways to stay active and busy throughout the winter months. The Community Centre has a large indoor pool and hot tub as well as many fitness and recreational options such as pickleball, zumba, yoga, painting and other artistic endeavors. If the temperature does become a bit too chilly for your outdoor stroll, move your walk indoors at the South Okanagan Event Centre. Just 4 times around the loop and you will have covered a bit more than a kilometre. The track is open Monday to Friday except when there is a scheduled event. The Seniors Drop-in Centre has a weekly calendar chock full of activities and social events. Music, card games, quilting, dancing and fitness classes; dinners and dances in the evening, which makes it a great place to meet new friends and have some fun. Both Penticton and Summerland feature a winter market offering the best in local seasonal offerings as well as artisan creations. Many of the wineries, distilleries and breweries also are open for tastings (and purchases!) in the winter months. Take advantage of this quieter time to glean some inside scoop on these local delights.

Summerland A vibrant community of just over 11,000 people, Summerland is perfectly situated on Lake Okanagan between Penticton and Kelowna. Just like our larger neighbors, we have every amenity to make your stay perfect and most of it is within walking distance of our lovely downtown shopping area. We know that the quiet season has its own charms. We visit in our cozy cafés serving locally roasted coffee, enjoy treats from the organic bakery, attend a philosopher’s conversation, a theatre production or concert, take a painting or quilting class or spend a restful afternoon at our state of the art, brand new library. No matter how you spend your day, Summerland provides an authentic small town experience for those looking for the charm that only winter in the Okanagan can provide.
