I NTR O D U C I N G B R I S BAN E ONE OF AUSTRALIA’S FASTEST-GROWING CAPITAL CITIES, BRISBANE HAS A POPULATION OF OVER TWO-MILLION PEOPLE AND IS A THRIVING MULTICULTURAL CITY WITH SUNSHINE-FILLED DAYS ALL-YEAR ROUND.

The residents of Brisbane – including its largest demographic of 24 to 40-year-olds – are young, skilled, highly educated and culturally diverse. The city was recently recognised as one of the top ten Asian cities of the future by the London Financial Times Magazine. With significant fresh produce regions on the city’s doorstep, Brisbane is quickly becoming one of Australia’s culinary capitals.

BRISBANE LIVEABILITY With the laid-back lifestyle that comes from living in a tropical climate, the residents of Brisbane are always keen to try new things across the areas of culture, design, fashion and, of course, food. Brisbane’s constant clear blue skies and perfect subtropical climate make it ideal for alfresco dining all year round. The people of Brisbane thrive on creativity and design, with a steady stream of cafes, restaurants and bars popping up in the city’s urban villages. The multicultural population of Brisbane has resulted in an exciting culinary scene across the city, with a variety of cuisines represented in unique and creative formats.

C O M M E R C IAL C O M M U N ITY THE PRECINCTS HAVE BEEN FURTHER ENHANCED BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NUMBER OF LARGE COMMERCIAL OFFICE BUILDINGS WHICH HAS EXPANDED INTO MELBOURNE STREET AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. The inner South office market includes the suburbs of South Brisbane, West End, Woolloongabba, Kangaroo Point, East Brisbane and Greenslopes with the majority of office space in South Brisbane. The Inner South market has experienced considerable growth in the total office stock when compared to the Brisbane CBD and surrounding Brisbane Fringe markets. The Inner South recorded an annual average growth from 2004 to 2011 of 12% equating to a growth of total office stock of almost 18,000 sqm per year over the period. Within South Brisbane, there is over 300,000 square metres (sqm) of commercial office space, equating to enough floor space for 30,000 white collar workers. The construction of a number of large commercial buildings in South Brisbane coupled with the suburbs close proximity to the CBD has seen it as an ideal location for many firms. These firms have been concentrated around the key commercial precincts of Melbourne Street, Grey Street and Montague Road.
