HORSESHOE FACILITIES

One of the best horseshoe facilities in the Midwest is located in picturesque Gage Park. The 18 full walkway practice courts are made of grass extended platforms and clay pits. Gage Park has been a staple of Topeka since opening in 1899 and its 160-acre space offers multiple facilities including a swimming pool, the Topeka Zoological Park, the Helen Hocker Theater, a fishing pond and more.

DID YOU KNOW?

Topeka hosted the NHPA World Horseshoe Championship in 2015, bringing more than 1,400 pitchers from around the world. Frank Elroy Jackson, of Blue Mound, Kansas, competed in the first world horseshoe championship in 1909 and won the event, beating 33 other contestants. The event was held in Bronson, Kansas. He also participated in multiple Topeka tournaments in his lifetime.
