CONTINUING MOMENTUM

Broad Ripple Strategies and Arrowhead Consulting are serving as consultants, helping shape the community’s next five-year strategy. They come with extensive knowledge about Topeka and Shawnee County. The next development plan will be even more intentional in its commitment to diversity and inclusion. Work began in August, and a draft of Momentum 2027 priorities is expected by March of 2022.

STEERING COMMITTEE

The Momentum 2027 steering committee — comprised of a diverse cross-section of the Topeka and Shawnee County community — held its second session in November. The committee reviewed a preliminary draft of the Momentum 2027 community survey, which will shape conversations moving forward and set the tone for Topeka and Shawnee County’s next five-year plan. “I think what we’re going to find is we’ve had some successes, but we’ve still got a lot of work to do,” said Michelle Cuevas-Stubblefield, the GTP’s senior vice president of strategy. So far, the partnership’s Momentum 2027 survey has garned nearly 2,000 responses.

A number of presentations in the community have taken place to share the strategic progress of Momentum 2022 and what’s ahead for the community’s next strategy, Momentum 2027. Presentations included the Washburn University Retreat, Agenda Topeka and Downtown Topeka Rotary.
