he Alabama Museum of Natural History is located in Smith Hall in one of the most beautifully proportioned interiors on the University of Alabama campus. The Grand Gallery, surrounded by ornate Corinthian columns and a majestic glass roof, exhibits fossils, rocks and minerals from the Coal Age, Dinosaur Age, and Ice Age and showcases our state fossil (the basilosaurus whale) and the only meteorite known to have struck a human. Hours: The Museum is open Monday–Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and closed for University holidays. Admission charged. The scientific collections are preserved for academic research in adjacent Mary Harmon Bryant Hall and may be viewed by appointment.

Location: The Alabama Museum of Natural History is in Smith Hall on the Quadrangle of the University of Alabama campus at 427 6th Avenue, one block north of University Blvd. (accessible via Hackberry Lane and Margaret Drive).
