Our Hero
With over 50 wineries scattered throughout the region, it’s easy to understand why hundreds of thousands of wine lovers flock to the Yass Valley each year. In the past, the region was generally made up of small family operations, with opening hours limited to weekends. As the region has grown so have the businesses, with many wineries extending their hours and offering food, music, tours and events in addition to wine tastings.
Food, Glorious Food
Not to be outdone, our cafes and restaurants pack a flavoursome punch. The Yass main street and surrounds plays host to a number of cafes, serving up everything from sandwiches to salad bowls, freshly baked pies and pastries, sourdough, tea, coffee and more. Our pubs and clubs specialise in traditional country-style meals, often with a modern or Asian twist. Or indulge in a special night out and enjoy courses matched to local wines at one of the many restaurants located throughout our towns and villages.

While you may not find a pig at our community markets, you will find lots of locally grown produce and wares. Fruit, vegetables, wine, olives, oils, dressings, preserves, meats, art, pottery, and trees are examples of all the goodies on offer across the region.
