Take some time for you...

I have been a Vista reader for a while now, always grabbing a hard copy of the magazine from health stores. First, I would enjoy it as a wellness aficionado; I would try different recipes and flip through the plethora of great advice. Later, as a holistic nutritionist, while flipping through the pages, I often thought about being interviewed or having a recipe featured right between those pages.

I imagined writing a lighthearted, humorous guest note, sharing some seasonal tips and fun nutrition advice. When I was asked to be featured, after going through excitement and gratitude, I had to pause - because the past few months have been anything but lighthearted. Recent events of the world affected everyone differently, and for most of us it’s been challenging times to say the least. It is safe to say that many things will never be the same, and in many ways they shouldn’t. And although things are starting to reopen, the turbulence is not over as we are now entering yet another adjustment period to the new way of living.

I hope that flipping through this issue will reconnect you to that old feeling of normalcy and give you a little break from the uncertainty. Taking some time for yourself is always important for living a healthy life, and in times like these, it’s even more necessary to take breaks to maintain our health so we can show up for ourselves and others.

This issue, we chat about the best ways to improve skin and the importance of hydration, a zen approach to eating and putting butter in your coffee! I’m sharing a few of my favourite super simple recipes that I would love for you to try. I hope that this issue will inspire you to put together a new dish, introduce you to some new healthy skin habits and maybe remind you to drink that extra glass of water! And I hope the remainder of your summer is full of sun, joy and appreciation.
