Area of Rectangle Formula

Area of Rectangle Formula Area of Rectangle Formula In mathematics, the great mathematician Mr. Euclidean gave concepts that provide the deep understanding of geometrical tool to solve the various kind of problem. In geometry, we study different kinds of mathematical shapes and figures that are plotted on the plane. According to the Euclidean plane geometry, a rectangle is a geometrical shape which can be considered as a quadrilateral with four right angles. A rectangle can also be called as equiangular quadrilateral due to their four right angles. A rectangle can also be considered as a special type of parallelogram. The square and rectangle both are similar type of geometrical shape, because both shapes contain the four straight sides with the four right angles. But there is a basic difference between the square and rectangle that square has four equal sides but rectangle contains pair of two equal sides. It means that in the shape of rectangle all the four sides are not equal. There are some of the properties that help in understanding the concept of rectangle. Properties of rectangle:

a)

The shape of rectangle contains four angles. All the angles of the rectangle are of 90o.

b) In rectangle we can plot the diagonals inside the shape of rectangle. These diagonals of rectangle are congruent for each other. c)

The opposite of rectangle are similar to each other but adjacent sides can’t be same.

Like other geometrical shapes, rectangle also has surface area. In mathematics there are several formulas which are defined to solve various kinds of problem. In the same aspect, the formula for solving the problem of calculating the area of rectangle is defined. Area of Rectangle Formula = Length * breath, In above formula we can see that the area of rectangle depends on the product of length and width. Length and width are the measurement of the given sides into the rectangle. It means that length and width are the sides of the corresponding rectangle. In general notation we can write the area of rectangle in below format: Area of rectangle (A) = length (L) * width (W), A = L * W, Above we can see that the area of rectangle is denoted by the symbol ‘A’ and the length and width are denoted by the symbol ‘L’ and ‘W’ respectively. Now we show you the some of the example that helps ‘I’ calculating the area of rectangle. Example: Suppose Harry has a rectangular piece of land, which has the length of 20 m and the width of rectangle is 10 m.

Harry wants to develop his land by flowers, which costs @ $2 per meter square. Now you need to calculate the total cost of developing the garden? Solution: In the above question given that the length of garden is 20 m and the width is 10 m. So, first of all we need to calculate the area of rectangle: Area of rectangle = length * width, A = 20 m * 10 m, A = 200 m2, The cost of developing a garden is $2 per meter square. So total cost of developing a garden is: Total cost = 200 * 2, So, Total cost is = $ 400,
