Linear Equations Solver Linear Equations Solver Linear Equations Solver helps us to solve the pair of linear equations in order to get the solution of the given equations. We say that the linear equations are the equations with different terms formed with the variables and the constant terms. We say that if we have the linear equations with two variables, we say that the equations can be solved by using different methods and get the solutions to the given equations such that the value of ‘x’ and ‘y’ satisfies both the equations. One method of solving the linear equations is by the help of graph. To get the solution for the pair of equations, we will first plot the lines on the graph paper. In order to plot the graph, we need to draw a table representing the points of x and its corresponding y- axis. With the help of the table, we will plot the points of x, y axis and thus plot the line. In the same way another equation is used to plot another line. Once the two lines are plotted on the graph paper, we find the solution to the equations.

On observing the two lines which represent the two equations and which are plotted on the graph, we cone to one of the following conclusions, which shows the solution to the given set of the equations: 1. If the two lines plotted on the graph intersect at any one given point, then it indicates that the pair of equations has one solution. The coordinates of the meeting point is the solution of the given pair of equations. 2. In case We find that the two lines do not intersect each other and they are equidistance from each other at all the points, it shows that the two equations forms the lines which re parallel to each other, It shows that the pair of the equations have no solution. 3. In third situation, we observe that the two lines so formed are coincident. It shows that the two lines formed to represent the pair of equations over lap each other. Thus we come to the conclusion that the pair of equations has infinite number of solutions. Still we have several other methods to solve the pair of linear equations. We can use any one of the method to solve the pair of linear equations. We get the same solution in all the cases. Here we look at different methods which work as the linear equations solver. a) By substitution method: In this method, we will substitute the value of one of the variable in the equation and then put this value in another equation. Thus we find that the equation so formed is in one variable. We will solve the equation to get the value of the unknown variable and thus on substituting this value to any one of the original equation, we get the value of another variable of the equation. b) By elimination method also we can solve the pair of equation, where one of the variables in the two equations is eliminated and thus we get the value of another variable.

c) We also use cross multiplication method to solve the pair of linear equation, where the coefficient of x, y and constants are cross multiplied to get the result. Example 1: Convert the following equation in statement form. x-5=9 Solution : 5 taken from x gives 9 So x = 9 + 5 = 14 Hence, x = 14 For verification of the statement, x-5=9 14 - 5 = 9 9 = 9 So left hand side value is equal to right hand side value. Hence the value of x determined is correct . You can try out some more examples from linear equations worksheets.
