A visual designer and photographer by profession, a visual artist by heart. My work is driven by the visual element, the aesthetics. However, being an autodidact, I felt something was missing. I was wondering if I could reach a higher level. In 2011 I decided to enroll into the study Photographic Design at the Fotovakschool in Amsterdam. This book, along with its companion book Commercial Works: Fashion • Beauty • Glamour, show the progression I made as photographer and visual artist: From work that is solely driven by aesthetic value to work driven by concept. I hope you will enjoy my work! 飛 雪

i’m a visual creature. A visual monologue about my identity, doubts and goals.

Reducing the everyday world and objects to shapes and colours.

Exploring the world of photography that goes beyond the aesthetic values.

Make me beautiful (2013) The commercial fashion and beauty industry makes us all beautiful. Or does it?

Faรงade (2014) A concept developed by stylist and make-up artist Effi van Swaal, who wants to make a statement about the faรงade that is the glamourous world presented in the media.

The Fallen (2013) Inspired by Mazeppa, a symphonic poem by composer Franz Liszt in the mid-19th century. This piece has an epic character full of drama, which I associated with war, tension and victims. It led to the creation of The Fallen, depicting animals killed on the road.

One off-day (2014) Some days are just off. Thoughts are everywhere, leaving behind an empty feeling. What started as a ‘lazy sunday’ themed photo shoot, turned into an intimid and fragile portrait of Mischa.

Lost (2012) A conceptual self-portrait serie that represents the struggles in life when there is zero direction. A reminder to never stop trying, because endurance will prevail.

The Other Side of Hong Kong: Village Life (2013) Hong Kong is known as the metropolis with its expansive skyline where East meets West. It’s one of the most densely populated areas in the world. The Other Side of Hong Kong: Village Life shows its different side of the former Brittish colony that is slower paced and quiet. It’s serene and at times, it seems time have stood still.

Behind the tattoo (2014 - ongoing) Every tattoo has its own story behind it. Some have a deep emotional connection to it, while others were just for fun. I’m interested in the reason behind tattoo and most of all, the person behind it.

Stalker (2014) Inspired by cinema, Stalker is a conceptual serie that puts the viewer in the seat of a stalker.
