I
t is an honour to judge an award that rewards the ambitions of the new generations in combining creative work with effectiveness, for good.
This is the time for the region to lead the world. There is such richness to be tapped from the unique and diverse cultures of Asia Pacific, and in burgeoning markets that will have global significance this century. For perhaps, the first time in modern history, there is a role reversal that sees trends emerge from Asia and spread worldwide. The work we all produce here, for creativity, for effectiveness, for good, is set to lead the way. It is with this exciting prospect that we have had the opportunity to participate in UA&P Tambuli Awards 2013. I thank you, in advance, for an inspiring and enjoyable year.

“The UA&P Tambuli Awards play an important role in the field of communication. Advertisers have a responsibility to both consumers and society. Great advertising is that which not only communicates how products and services can contribute to the enhancement of the quality of the lives of individual consumers but does so in a way that is in tune with the fundamental values of the society in which those consumers live.”
John Martin Miller
Chairman and CEO Nestlé Philippines
“What is unique about UA&P Tambuli Awards is the fact that it champions societal values as a key ingredient of building business through IMC. The awards are a reminder to corporates that doing good and good business can go hand in hand.”
Sudip Mall
General Manager Mondelez International
“What makes the UA&P Tambuli Awards singularly great is that amidst the glut of industry awards that honor incredible visuals and sales figures, Tambuli champions a philosophy in marketing that rightly recognizes the integral connection between values and effectiveness. Brands have to deal with its audience as people. Campaign messaging that reflects that through a strong and ethical point of view will get the best results. Bill Bernbach once said that, contrary to popular belief, creativity was the most practical thing a businessman can employ. As the UA&P Tambuli awards prove, values are just as sensible.”
John Zeigler
Chairman and CEO, DDB Asia-Pacific, Japan, India

Message from the UA&P Tambuli Awards 2013 Advisory Board Chairman My dear friends and colleagues, I offer my hearty congratulations to the winners of the UA&P Tambuli Awards 2013: 7th Asia-Pacific IMC Effectiveness and Values Awards. It’s been a truly thrilling year for us: with over three hundred entries received, the panel did not want for quality work to award with metals. Nurturing this singular competition has been a happy challenge, and we have been nothing but pleased with the strong and steady increase in participants over the years. That said, I would especially like to acknowledge the participation of the regional agencies and jury members who hail from Singapore, Shanghai, India, Indonesia, and other countries in the Asia-Pacific Region. Your presence lends to this congress a global sense of appreciation for values, and reinforces the unity of the Asia-Pacific Region under the banner of IMC Effectiveness and Values Advertising. Lastly, a huge thanks goes out to our partners - MORES, InterMedia Consulting, and Studio 23; as well as our sponsors and corporate partners Albergus Catering, ASAP, Clear Channels, GA Printing, Havas Media Ortega, Inkwell Publishing Co., Inc, Lowe Philippines, Philippine Survey and Research Center, RMN Networks, Vitalstrats Creative Solutions, and Zenithoptimedia. I extend thanks also to our media sponsors:. ABS-CBN, Adobo Magazine, Business World, Good Life, Philippine Daily Inquirer, and The Philippine Star. Jimmy Santiago
I got my first taste of the advertising industry in a small agency back in the early 80s where I stayed for a couple of years. Thinking I’d had enough of that, I quit and tried the life of a rolling stone, hopping from one quick job stint to another until 1986 when I fell on advertising’s lap once again as a copywriter at J. Walter Thompson (JWT).
Co-founded TBWA\SANTIAGO MANGADA PUNO, the agency that has won the 4A’s AGENCY of the YEAR AWARD five times. Former President of the 4As, and the Creative Guild of the Philippines Recipient of the Creative Guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Ad Congress Executive Committee member in1991, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2005 in charge of the Opening Ceremonies, the Araw Awards Creative Competition and Araw Awards Night. Jimmy Santiago used to be a member of the Board of Directors, Vice President and Executive Creative Director of Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, an adjunct professor and a guest lecturer at the UP College of Fine Arts.
This time, the relationship lasted about a decade and a half, with me ultimately rising to the position of Vice President and Executive Creative Director of JWT. With the arrival of my second child in 1999, I decided to retire (or so I thought) from stressful living and set up a relaxing home-based business. But early in 2004, some former associates asked if I’d like to hop back onto advertising’s back, but this time, as a partner in our own ad agency. I said yes, and we set up Dyll, the “D” in the acronym being me.

Angel Guerrero Though known in the advertising world as the founder and editor-in-chief of adobo magazine--the authority in Advertising, Design, and Marketing Communications in the country--Angel Guerrero’s contribution to the industry goes beyond paper. First, from being a magazine that she started at a spare room at home a mere 7 years ago, adobo is now a multi-media, multi-awarded enterprise. Adobo Digital has recently been recognized by the Asian Publishing Awards of 2011 at Thailand for its well-synced platforms. The adobo brand has also grown to include adobo digital, adobo books, and adobo main
course. Events such as the adobo run, adobo masterclass, and adobo design awards are considered industry red-letter days. Though quite impossible to separate her from adobo, Angel had a 15-year career at McCann Erickson, rising to the Business Unit Director post. She left her mark by earning the company one of the first AME Advertising and Marketing Effectiveness Awards in the country, along with a slew of Agency of the Year Awards. She then went on to become a journalist for the advertising beat of the country’s leading dailies.
A self-confessed pro-Creatives and advocate of great advertising, she is a major fixture at all the important industry events—from the Cannes Advertising Festival, the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival in Thailand, to all main advertising events in the Philippines. She keeps her ears close to the ground, going where all great ideas go.

University of Asia and the Pacific’s Tambuli Awards 2013 Souvenir Program The UA&P Tambuli Awards is the only global award that celebrates Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) effectiveness and the promotion of societal values in one award.
W
ith the recently held UA&P Tambuli Awards 2013 at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), the region’s first and only awards program of its kind has geared up to once again honor the year’s best advertising campaigns that have valued both business results and socially relevant marketing communications. Gaining momentum and growth since its inception in 2005, this year’s awards received more than 300 entries from the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region. The Tambuli Awards aspires to be the benchmark and resource for effective integrated marketing communications programs (IMC). Following a case study entry approach, it gives equal measure to both profitable integrated marketing communications campaigns and the simultaneous promotion of societal values. Entries submitted must prove that the campaigns resulted not only in increased profitability but also to the betterment of society. To further articulate its principles and promote its ideals in the pursuit of the best IMC practices, this year’s Tambuli Awards was preceded by a conference featuring talks from some of the most respected names in the world of marketing communications. The UA&P Tambuli Awards 2013 Conference revolved around the theme “Integration and Meaningful Connections” and provided insight from industry luminaries Stuart Clark (Managing Director, Asia Pacific Havas Media International), Albert Cuadrante (General Manager, Greenwich), Rupen Desai (President, Asia Pacific, Lowe and Partners Worldwide), Harpreet Kaintel (Chief Strategy Officer, Asia Pacific, Zenith Optimedia), Noel Lorenzana (President and CEO, MediaQuest Holdings, Inc.), Lizelle Maralag (President, GMA 7 Marketing and Productions, Inc.), and John Miller (Chairman and CEO, Nestle Philippines, Inc.). The Tambuli Awards also expanded its scope to recognize more facets of an industry that only grows more diverse by the day. On top of the previously announced categories, starting this year, awards were also given for the best Integrated Digital or Mobile-Led Program, Integrated Outdoor-Led Program, Integrated Promo and Activation-Led Program, and Integrated Branded Content and Entertainment. A select agency will also be named the Effectiveness Creative Agency of the Year. The awards come in Gold, Silver and Bronze, depending on the entries’ level of achievement within the given category as determined by the judges. Gold Winners will qualify for the competition’s highest distinction, the Carmencita Esteban Platinum Award. The Tambuli Awards 2013 is organized by UA&P School of Communication in partnership with the Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines, supported by Intermedia Consulting, and with its Media Partner Studio 23. With Sponsors Albergus Catering, ASAP, Clear Channels, GA Printing, Havas Media Ortega, Inkwell, Publishing, Lowe Philippines, PSRC, RMN Networks, Vitalstrats Creative Solutions, Zenith Optimedia and media sponsors ABS-CBN, Adobo Magazine, Business World, Good Life, the Philippine Daily Inquirer, and The Philippine Star, .
