Located in Porto, this is a garden original from 19 th century. (probably) is part of a set of romantic gardens characteristic of this zone. The garden is now a days property of FAUP (The Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto) The project aims to requalify the Garden and adjust to his function regarding the need of Universitary use. The work began with a survey in locu, and historical research on the origins and evolution of the garden until the present day. Unable to determine the first owner or the date of origin of the garden, it is just known that the creation date is prior to 1881. Belvedere Date of construction unknown

Quinta da Póvoa | Old drawing, New function
Current Status | second terrace
Most of the project was dedicated to the first terrace, aims to reclassify the paths, the built heritage, and redesign the flowerbeds and endows them of characteristic vegetation of a romantic garden of Porto . The proposal also includes the design of the parking lot next to garden. In the second terrace, the work was different, here was necessary to design a new space. This area does not have any plan or use and his old design can’t be rebuilt because the terrace was partially destroyed to build the Via Panoramica road. In this project we propose a formal design, inspired by their contemporary gardens. In this case, it was deprecated the use of buxus hedges, for functional reasons. We propose also de reabilitation of the stairs and the fountain. The space was designed aiming the contemplation of the Douro river. It is an open space that can accommodate small outdoor exhibitions, or simply for students and visitors make picnics.
