Aarhus has the unofficial title "Capital of Jutland". Aarhus has a population of 250 000 people known as "the smallest of the big cities in the world", because it is equal in importance to the world's largest metropols. The Danish city of Aarhus is selected European Capital of Culture in year 2017.

The airport of Aarhus (AAR) is 44 km from the city. The City can be reached by bus, timetable coincides with the arrival of flights. Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is located 8 kilometers southeast of the capital Copenhagen. From Copenhagen airport, planes fly regularly to the airport of Aarhus, as well as speed trains and buses to the center of Aarhus (about 3.5 hours on the way) . If you prefer to travel by train or bus, you will get an excellent opportunity to drive through the famous bridge "Great Belt" - StorebĂŚlt and get an additional sightseeing tour of Denmark.

Hotel Scandic Aarhus City is located in central Aarhus, 700 meters from the railway station and 900 meters from the central bus station in Aarhus. Scandic Aarhus City is located next to the pedestrian street Strøget with many shops and department stores. 300 m from the hotel is situated Aarhus City Hall. There are many attractions that are close to the hotel, such as the famous museum AROS, the Cathedral, the Viking museum and much more.

April 2014, in the evening, we invite you to Candlemas ball - traditional dances of Christian Youth, where you will have a great opportunity to immerse in an atmosphere of traditional dances like polonaise, waltz, polka, and also modern ball dance. The organizers of Candlemas ball is a group of students from University of Aarhus, members of the association of historic ball dance "Revival". Candlemas Ball is a concept of revival of traditional Russian and European bales from the 18th and 19th century. The founder of the dance school "Revival" - Vyacheslav Guralnick, runs the dance school in Moscow, www.dancesalon.ru. Candlemas ball has become very popular and currently is organized in 25 countries. The first gala Candlemas ball in Denmark was in Aarhus and got a lot of attention from the local population. Candlemas ball was arranged several times in Aarhus and in Copenhagen, and participants are not only Danes as guests from other neighbor countries also participate. Candlemas balls has been very popular and will be arranged in the future in several Danish cities. What does Candlemas mean? Why the ball is called Candlemas ball? The Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, which falls on 2 February, celebrates an early episode in the life of Jesus. In the Eastern Orthodox Church and some Eastern Catholic Churches, it is one of the twelve Great Feasts. In the Latin Church of the Roman Catholic Church, the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple is the fourth Joyful Mystery of the Rosary. It was also reflected in the practice of the churching of new mothers, forty days after the birth of a child.

On 5 April, the Danish dance group of students from Aarhus University will present a dancing event, inspired of the traditional Candelmas ball for the participants of the seminar Vivasan and guests at hotel Scandic Aarhus City. The ball will be arranged by a student of the economy department of the Aarhus University Elisej Lokotar.
