Vivekananda Service Society is a service organization which aims at serving the people of rural India realising the ideals of Swami Vivekananda- “ Daridra Devo Bhava, Deena Devo Bhava”. It is an association consisting exclusively of the alumni of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysore a premier residential educational institution run by Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Mysore, a branch of the world renowned Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Belur Math, West Bengal. Vivekananda Service Society envisions equity for all in the rural and tribal communities. It strives to improve the socioeconomic conditions of disadvantaged and deserving people and places by building local capacities in 3 major sectors: Education, Healthcare and Livelihood Empowerment.

Our Vision VSS will strive to empower the disadvantaged and marginalized population residing or originating from the rural areas of Karnataka. VSS will help them realize their potential for growth and encourage them to contribute their best to society, by providing them with catalytic support in : ● Education, ● Healthcare and ● Livelihood empowerment.

Our Mission VSS will collaborate with partner organizations working in the Education, Healthcare and Livelihood empowerment sectors to evolve and implement appropriate programs. VSS will provide financial and expert guidance support through its network of alumni, volunteers and other enlightened citizenry. VSS will also function as the platform for the alumni of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysore, to enable them to give back to the society by seeking financial contributions and volunteers primarily from amongst them and also supplemented by financial contributions and volunteers from

Projects at a Glance Viveka Shikshana is a free coaching program aimed at helping economically disadvantaged school going students essentially from rural background, to achieve excellence in their studies and life. Viveka Shikshana is for 9th and 10th Standard students. Viveka Shikshana coaches students in English, Mathematics and Science after their regular class hours, for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. Both boys and girls are eligible. A centrally located school is selected as a Viveka Shikshana center for that town/village and eligible students from surrounding schools are encouraged to participate. It is envisaged that every Viveka Shikshana Center will have about 50 students in a class, coached by 3 teachers.
