Introduction A security camera has to provide all-time video for different lighting
conditions of different environments. From outdoor midnight street to indoor dark storage room, keeping good visibility is very important and necessary. However, it is a challenge in these scenarios that the camera with traditional CMOS has, and also its limitation in rare lighting environments. VIVOTEK has been seeking for a new CMOS and image signal processing technology, supreme night visibility, which has been proved in great progress of low light performance.

Night Vision
The video quality and night-time performance of a security camera mainly depend on two attributes: the lux rating and the infrared (IR) response. Under low light conditions with IR Illumination, the sensor employed in the camera plays a crucial role in the video quality ultimately seen by the viewer. The low lux rating means the camera can capture more light even under low light conditions. It is designed for cameras to improve image clarity and reduces grain drastically. So the user can monitor in lower lighting conditions with better results.

Infrared is used in night vision equipment when there is insufficient visible light to see. Night vision devices operate through a process involving the conversion of ambient light photons into electrons which are then amplified by a chemical and electrical process and then converted back into visible light. Infrared light sources can be used to augment the available ambient light for conversion by night vision devices, increasing in-the-dark visibility without actually using a visible light source.
