CONTENTS This portfolio contains a selection of works intended to showcase the work I have completed during my time at the University of Bath, LA Hally Architect and LT Studio Landscape Architects. These projects have been chosen to highlight the variety of skills I have acquired in my architectural education and professional experience. An understanding of the built and social context, spatial organisation, practicality and tectonics have been presented here.

South Elevation Study The South elevation is composed mostly of the perforated Aluminium panelling. The triple aspect due to location of the proposal, Waterfront Square, required a façade system that shielded the solar glare from the south while at the same time providing glimpses of the harbour from the interior. The opening louvres on the East and West elevations aid in natural cross ventilation for areas of the Picture House that are deep in plan.

Maintaining the idea of an ‘Intertwined’ form, the concept evolved by increasing the number of points of access across the Cut. Each bridge deck varies in terms of the height that they reach before ramping down towards either side of the Cut. The accommodation which house the programs follow the organic form of the bridge accordingly.

Rain Water harvesting - Water butt with integrated water pump to collect ground water collected from surface run off and infiltration Concrete benches - These benches will have openings placed at the bottom of the seating to allow surface runoff to flow through and into the gravel soakaways Gravel soakaway - Gravel laid over a perforated pipe which will encourage water from surface run off to flow towards an outlet in the Canal

Environmental Considerations
Proposed Tree (1) - Grows to a height of 10-15m. Encourages wildlife such as Hair Streak Butterflies which feed off the honey-dew produced by the tree.
20
Rain Garden - Native shrubs, and perennials are planted in this small depression which collects rain water runoff and soaks and holds the water for up to 12 hours. During this time, approximately 90% of nutrients and toxins and sediment will be filtered out before the water reaches the water table. Corten planters - The raised beds are constructed using Corten steel edgings which keeps the bedding layer, compost and plants stable and secure. Gravel footway - Lightly washed gravel footpaths are easy to maintain and are suitable as a surface finish as the foot paths adjacent to the canal as conservation kerbs will not be required to maintain alternative surface finsh build-ups.

LA Hally Architect is an award-winning architectural practice founded in 2009 and based in Winchester, Hampshire. The practice consists of a small team of talented and close-knit individuals with a young, fresh and innovative approach to design. The practice is committed to delivering high quality bespoke residential architecture. I spent five months at the practice working on a variety of projects across Winchester and the wider Hampshire area. I really enjoyed my time at the practice and have learned many different skills such as practice management, collaborative design and working with local planning authorities. As the practice is small in size, I was given a lot of responsibility within the team and worked on a full range of tasks. This included; preparing planning applications, surveying houses to be used for initial design proposals, attending site meetings to review the progress of ongoing projects, preparing drawings for tender, 3D modelling, producing visuals and taking an active role in the collaborative design process of the practice.
