A Unique Setting
The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) is housed in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham (RHK). The oldest classical public building in Ireland, it was built between 1680 & 1684 on a 60 acre site granted by King Charles II at the instigation of James Butler, First Duke of Ormonde.
06
Galleries and Exhibitions IMMA has a unique programme of contemporary and modern art exhibitions where Corporate Members are invited to host bespoke events for clients and employees alike.
The Great Hall & Courtyard The high ceiling and magnificent windows offer an airy and versatile space for modern day use. Being the largest room in the RHK, the Great Hall offers a unique backdrop for conferences and dining. The space creates a stylish setting for formal dinners and business lunches alike, while its spaciousness makes it an ideal location for concerts and award ceremonies. And having direct access to the building’s enclosed courtyard, it is well appointed for product launches. The Great Hall can host up to 370 delegates for conferences, 800 for cocktail receptions and 348 guests for gala dinner events.
The Johnston Suite Located beside the Great Hall, these rooms can be conveniently used as breakout rooms for conferences or additional meeting spaces. They were remodeled by the architect Francis Johnston in the 19th century. The polished wood floors and Waterford Crystal chandeliers also provide an elegant location for small dinners and lunches for 60 guests or cocktail receptions for up to 150 guests.

The Baroque Chapel The striking original craftsmanship of the Baroque Chapel is still retained to this day featuring oak carvings and ornate plasterwork ceiling. Irish-made stained glass windows dating from the 19th century depict the coats of arms from various RHK masters. The historical venue creates an unrivalled setting for contemporary events. Adjoining the Great Hall, it can serve as a pre-dinner reception area for up to 330 guests or a dining area for up to 120 guests. Alternatively, the space has been used for small conferences and seminars.
The Formal Gardens The Formal Garden, formerly a physic garden, containing medicinal herbs and later acquired by the Master of the RHK as his private garden, was probably originally laid out in the French style, after the patterns of Le Notre, the most popular garden designer of the late 17th century. The minute books record a request that the walls be so arranged as to maximise the views from the Great Hall. The current restoration incorporates features of French formal gardens with plants, sculpture and furniture similar to those in vogue at the time the Hospital was built. This area is also available to afterhour drinks and events.
