Imagine this: You’ve been planning your wedding for months and are nervous when the day finally arrives. Of course you want everything to go smoothly. As you’re in your room getting ready, your family members pop in and out to let you know that the vendors are arriving. “The florist is here and is settingMake up!”your “The DJsmoother just pulled in”. “Your trips go and smarter with these fun and cool travel gears. photographer is here to take pictures of you getting ready!” You breath a sigh of relief, everything is going smoothly so far. Your photographer is a family friend who does this for fun and this is his second wedding. During your ceremony you see him running around out of the corner of your eye and are glad he is getting different angles.

When it ends he starts walking over to you looking a little dejected. “Oh no,” you think, “I hope everything went alright.” “How did it go,” you ask, “can I see the pictures?” He pauses before saying “Uh, well, it’s really dark in here and I didn’t know what to do. I missed the kiss and I don’t think the others came out well.” Your heart sinks and you feel your cheeks getting hot. You try to keep your composure, but how could he miss the first kiss!
This guide is not about me or my photographic services. Yes it will be nice if you choose me to cover your wedding but this is not why i am writing this. The purpose of thus guide is to help you make right decisions, to illustrate the difference between good and bad photography and to be armed with the knowledge to ask important questions to whatever photographer you choose for your wedding.

So why hire photographer at all? First, the wedding day is one of the most special ones, a day when you will want to look back and remember good times for many years and even share it with your children and grandchildren. Having photos, and especially well-made images are crucial to keep the memory.After all the noise dies down your photo album is the only thing that will bring you back to that day.

A professional photographer earned a solid piece of paper that makes him/her confidently take on a wedding photo shoot, opposed to a family member with no experience. Besides the fact that they have a technical understanding of photography (angles, positioning etc.), your memories are safe with them, their equipment is not likely to suddenly start giving problems, something that can very easily happen to a friend or family member. You are investing so much into this day: time, money, emotion‚ why take a risk with the only sure thing that can take you on a trip down memory lane years from now?

Equipment
A great shot isn’t just a click away if you are sitting with a tiny digital camera which produces low resolution pics! Yes, your cousin can probably record the whole event faithfully, but there is just no comparison. A professional’s equipment is in excellent condition and of top standard – it’s not just a hobby but his/her bread and butter, they rely on their equipment to produce great photos. They normally have 2 camera bodies with different lenses so they react quickly to different scenarios in front of them.

BACKUP
Every serious professional photographer have backup camera bodies, flashes, memory cards and lots of batteries because all this stuff can malfunction. Once in a blue moon but it happens! Wedding is a fast pace event. Cameras get bashed around, lenses get stuck, shutter jammed and sometimes cameras end up in the fountains. Low budget photographer simply don't have enough money to invest in backups! Even if you are hiring a pro - always ask if they have a backup camera.

6. QUALITY PHOTOS One thing you will need from your big day is photos that are of the desired quality. This is only possible if you hire an experienced photographer. One thing they will use is highresolution cameras that produce very clear photos. They are also familiar with different editing tools and software which they use to edit your photos and make them more attractive. Getting different photo sizes is also possible if you hire a professional for the job.

This is my personal opinion but i believe that hiring a photographer and not getting wedding album in the end is a waste of money. Well printed and well designed album is a piece of art in itself. Photographer approaches wedding with an album in mind. Lots of detail photos are taken.These will help to tell the story of the day as it unfolds. Wedding albums are not just scrapbooks of your favourite photos, they are designed to transport you back in the moment every time you open the page. You will hardly get a nice album from amateur or low budget photographer.

Weddings have both posed moments as well as action shots. You may have asked for some group photos and posed shots, you want to feel at ease and a professional shall be able to make you feel comfortable and natural, not stiff and awkward, these moments are part of your wedding day, so they should be fun and enjoyable. This skill is something that comes from experience and having trust in them.If you feel at ease then this will show in your photos, it will also mean you have more fun, feel comfortable and not worrying or stressing, it would be just like taking photos with friends where there is no pressure, just relaxed fun and beautiful natural photos.

So once you have decided on a style and your budget you will be able to narrow down who you would shortlist to capture your wedding day.If you reduced the budget on your cake and cut a few corners to make some savings, hardly anyone would know and they certainly won’t remember, after a week your cake will be gone.
