When using an MHX blank, custom rod builders can offer a truly custom rod without competition from a rod factory.

LIMITED LIFETIME TRANSFERRABLE ROD BLANK WARRANTY MHX again sets the standard with our exclusive limited lifetime transferable warranty. Each rod blank can be registered online with its individual serial number by either the custom rod builder or the end user of the rod. When registered, the blanks unique serial number identifies that rod blank to registrant. If the registrant sells or gives the rod blank or finished rod to another person, the warranty can be transferred to the new owner – an industry first! In order to activate your warranty, you must register your MHX rod blank. Warranty claims will not be accepted without a valid serial number on file.

TRUST MHX QUALITY APPLICATION SPECIFIC ROD BLANKS Each MHX blank is designed and produced for specific applications and uses. The design information is listed along with each blank to provide the custom rod builder with usage and application suggestions.

QUALITY CONTROL Under a 7 point inspection system, blanks are checked for straightness, butt and tip diameter, weight & length – and are deflected to confirm correct power and blank action. This industry leading detailed inspection assures custom rod builders receive a blank which exceed their expectations.

INDIVIDUAL SERIAL NUMBERS Once it has passed the quality control stage, each MHX blank is assigned an individual serial number. This assures that every MHX rod you build, fish, buy or sell can be tracked throughout it’s life cycle from end to end with no concern about warranty issues.

ROD ACTION VS. POWER ROD POWER: The “power” of a rod refers to how much pressure it takes to flex the rod. Different rod powers are engineered to efficiently handle a certain range of lure weights and line sizes. To select a rod power that will perform best for you, simply narrow your choices to rods designed to cast the weight of lures – and sizes of lines – you’ll fish with most often.

ROD ACTION: The “action” of a rod is determined by where a rod flexes along the blank. Faster action rods flex mostly near the tip. Moderate action rods flex more near the middle of the blank. Slower action rods flex down into the butt section.

X-Fast - Extra Fast action rods offer a high degree of tip sensitivity and offer faster power during hook set. While it can be used in a variety of fishing situations, it is most popular with single hooks applications like worming and jigging. Fast Action - Fast action rods are a great choice when you want a rod for all fishing applications. This is because it is a healthy balance of fast tip and sensitivity, while still providing some forgiving power for a softer hook set. Moderate Action - With moderate action rods you trade a little less sensitivity for a little more casting range. These are great rods for treble hook applications like crankbaits because the lighter action on hook set keeps the lure in the fish’s mouth.

Slow Action - Slow action rods bend most of the way down, and have become much less popular in today’s fishing applications due to the technology advances in rod design – but ultralight and some fly fishing applications still utilize these soft rods.

The Larry Dahlberg Signature Series MHX Blanks are made of 4 models – medium, heavy and extra heavy, plus a trolling blank. The medium will handle lures from a half ounce up to two ounces. The heavy will handle a wider range on the top end (3 0z) and still cast 3/4 lures easily.

Excellent for ”bait and switch” sailfish and small marlin as well!”

Versatility : “These blanks can be used in either bait casting or spinning configuration. Size ten ring on bait caster tip and first 4 guides for easy knot clearance. Select the butt and foregrip length of your preference. (Larry likes to use both 12” and 14”). He also uses a balancer with two or three weights depending on butt length with a triggered reel seat on baitcaster, standard on spin.
