RBI Austin Complex
Project Information Year Built: Project is In Design
RBI Austin exists to engage and develop inner-city Austin youth athletically and academically and spiritually empowering them to lead the transformation of their communities RBI Austin targets used in families from Austin’s inner-city communities particularly East Austin. The goal of the project is to the continue development of RBI Austin baseball and softball leagues, host tournaments at all age levels of play for the purpose of developing competition skills as well as generating revenue to sustain the RBI program, provide classroom instruction and mentoring for many of the youth in the RBI sports program who need additional guidance in their lives based on their socio-economic conditions, and offer instruction based on Christian values applied to their programs and personnel development

Denton ISD Baseball /Softball Complexes, Ryan & Denton High Schools
Project Information Year Built: 2018

VLK was hired by Denton ISD to perform additions and renovations on softball fields for Ryan and Denton High Schools. The goal of the project was to create parity with the facilities at the district’s newer high schools, and to repair inconsistencies in the fields to provide a safe playing surface for the athletes. The additions and renovations include new dugouts, scorers’ booths, spectator seating, bullpens, and batting cages, as well as additional parking closer to the fields.

Denton ISD Baseball Stadium, Braswell High School
Project Information Year Built: 2018

As part of the Bill Carrico Athletic Complex at Braswell High School, VLK provided three field houses, one for football, softball, and tennis. The baseball, softball, and tennis field house is separated into two buildings, one for the male athletes and one for the female athletes. The separation of the buildings creates a entry portal into the baseball/softball complex.

Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD Baseball Stadium, Chisholm Trail High School
Project Information Year Built: 2012
Chisholm Trail High School is the district’s third high school, developed to serve the rapidly growing district. Athletic facilities include a 7,500-seat competition stadium with an eight-lane track, 50,000 sf field house, a twostory press box, a competition and practice baseball/softball complex and an 800-seat minor competition stadium. Core facilities include a 1,000-seat auditorium, a 1,800-seat competition basketball and volleyball gymnasium and an agricultural facility. Sustainable elements, including a geothermal mechanical system, irrigation for the entire site via the water in the nearby lake and use of a drip irrigation system that saturates the ground from underneath, will generate cost savings for the district.

Katy ISD Baseball Stadium, Katy High School

The growing popularity of Katy High School Baseball necessitated a field upgrade to accommodate up to 1,200 spectators. The project entailed a new press box, new concession stand, new restroom facilities, aluminum bleachers for 1,200 people, a new pitcher’s mound, renovations to the bullpen and dugouts, new backstop with concrete block, poles, and net.

Midlothian ISD Baseball Stadium, Midlothian Heritage High School
Project Information Year Built: 2014
New 500-seat baseball and softball competition stadium included in the new high school project. This project included synthetic turf over playing surface except on the pitcher’s mound, three batting cages, two bullpens, and metal outfield fencing. The outfield area was designed to be utilized as practice football field.

The new stadium for the Texas Rangers, this “Next Generation Ballpark” is the cornerstone of the Texas Live! development, a world-class dining, entertainment, and luxury hospitality complex. Designed with a retractable roof for climate control and shelter, the ballpark delivers a series of premium experiences for the fans including clubs, themed restaurants, retail, and a hall of fame exhibit. The ballpark is a public-private partnership between the Texas Rangers and the City of Arlington. VLK was the project’s Associate Architect with Design Architect and Architect of Record, HKS, Inc.

Forge Sports Forge Sports Academy Concept
FORGE SPORTS ACADEMY will be a world-class youth and collegiate training and tournament venue located in Central Texas. The facility will be set up to serve athletes from elementary school through professional. The first phase of development of FORGE SPORTS ACADEMY will see tournament fields, multi-purpose practice fields, lockers rooms and training areas for Baseball/Softball, Soccer. Later phases will see indoor practice and tournament facilities for volleyball and basketball, as well as all-weather facilities for football and soccer and baseball.

Relevant Experience and Qualifications Project Name – Fort Worth ISD – Amon Carter Riverside High School Project Location – Fort Worth, Texas Date of Completion – January 2022 Project Cost - $45 Million Architectural Firm - Glenn | Partners – 5646 Milton Street, Suite 426, Dallas, TX 75206 Project Description – We provided MEP services for the new site and new school. The site included a new practice football field and high school baseball field. The location of the site within the neighborhood provided challenges the design of the lighting for the complex. Along with glare, up-light, and backlighting the site also included protected post oak trees that were taken into consideration on our photometric calculations. Ownership and HOA are pleased with the outcome.

Relevant Experience and Qualifications Project Name – Flower Mound Riverwalk Project Location - Flower Mound, Texas Date of Completion – 2018 –Ongoing Project Cost - $300 Million (Entire Development) Architectural Firm - Merriman Anderson Architects - 300 N Field St, Dallas, TX 75202 Project Description – We provided MEP services for the shell and finish in much of the development. Within the site, we provided MEP services for the amphitheater. The amphitheater is situated on the river walk which includes water features with built in LED lighting. The lighting is controlled as part of the site with the ability of being controlled through the amphitheater as part of the performance. This project was designed with the flexibility to house multiple community events. For example, we provided food truck power connections in the parking lot, to allow for community “pot lucks”.

SARAH GARDNER Associate | Architecture Director | Athletics Specialist Sarah serves as VLK’s Architecture Director for our Fort Worth office. Sarah manages the daily operations of the architectural unit in the Fort Worth office and is directly responsible for implementing strategies and procedures and procedures to ensure the firm continues to produce the highest quality design. Sarah played softball during college.
