Prospects for the EV market are getting better as more people are now considering alternative means of transport due to rising fuel prices and more widespread “Green� consciousness. Advancements in electric motor designs now allow for an engine powerful enough to drive a two-seater vehicle to whey less than 15kg and to be the size of a small pot, allowing them to be detached and carried by the owner. Motor costs have also dropped dramatically with suitable units now priced around the $500 mark. The rise of applications and devices requiring long-term efficient electrical storage (e.g. wind and solar farms, portable electronics, etc.) has influenced the battery industry positively and the price per kWh of LiPo battery has now dropped to ~$400/kWh. Leveraging this in a smaller, lighter vehicle will allow for an attractive range at a reasonable cost.
