There. is an over representation of Southeast Asian youth involved in drugs, gangs and crime. Much of this can be attributed to a loss of culture, language and self-respect, which gradually erodes identity. Through this World Cup event, not only did we reconnect youth with their culture, but more importantly, Kabaddi is a positive activity which has proven to provide youth an outlet away from engaging in a criminal lifestyle.

Another youth talked about his experience getting involved with the wrong crowd. “When I was a teen, I wanted to be a cool kid so I started hanging out with the cool kids. Months went by and my attitude started to change, things were bad at home, I’m punching holes in the walls and stuff. It wasn’t a good time. But that’s when I met Kal.”
On July 31st, 2022, the Kids Play Foundation, in partnership with New Canada Kabaddi Federation, hosted teams from all around the world at Bell Kabaddi Park for the Annual U21 World Cup of Kabaddi and Wrestling Tournament. We hosted this world class event to promote culture and sports in Western Canada. Alongside Kabaddi, the day was full of soccer and wrestling. We are grateful to all the wrestling clubs that participated in the tournament. Over $10,000 in prize money was distributed to the players.
More than 70,000 youth have gone
through these free programs over the years. Many of whom are now young professionals in various fields - law enforcement, medicine, and law.
Recognizing his son’s downward spiral, this father of this participant introduced him to Kal Dosanjh, founder and Chief Executive Officer of KidsPlay Foundation. Kal has been spearheading the organization in a volunteer capacity. KidsPlay is now recognized as one of the largest youth led organizations with the highest number of youth in leadership positions.

These individuals are known to police and have been connected to high levels of gang and organized crime-related violence. Police believe that anyone with or in the proximity to these individuals may be putting themselves at risk.
Dhaliwal’s brother, Harpreet Singh Dhaliwal, 31, was shot and killed on April 17, 2021, outside Cardero’s restaurant near Coal Harbour Quay and Cardero Street in Vancouver. I am writing to express my concern with the Port of Vancouver’s Rolling Truck Age IProgram.understand that the United Truckers As sociation (“UTA”) and its members are pre pared to take job action in opposition to this program. This may result in a “shutdown” of the Port of Vancouver in the coming days. As the Mayor of the City of Surrey, I have heard from several of my constituents about this issue. From what I have learned, it is clear to me that the UTA’s independent operator (I/O) truck owners are being un fairly targeted by the Port. As a result, I as the Mayor of the City of Surrey stand in sup port of the UTA and its members.
VCH welcomes children six months to four years to COVID-19 vaccine clinics
Getting children vaccinated from COVID-19 provides a number of critical benefits.
Eleven clinics will operate across VCH communities offering child-centred care tailored to the needs of individual children and their families.
VCH advises anyone with questions regard ing childhood COVID-19 vaccinations to speak to their family doctor, nurse practi tioners, or to call 8-1-1 for healthcare guid ance.
Older children from five years of age and above continue to be eligible for vaccina tion. Parents or guardians with several chil dren will be accommodated for immuniza tions across VCH clinics.
While children six months to four years are at a lower risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19 compared to older age groups, vaccination is expected to reduce their risk

When he immigrated to B.C. in 1970 at the age of 19, he was only able to get farming jobs in Abbotsford and the surrounding ar eas. His desire to build a better life here led him to work long hours and look past the unnecessary clawbacks from labour con tractors taking advantage of the immigrant workforce. Mahil felt for the older work ers in their 60s for the working conditions they had to endure, and he told himself he would do something to make lives better for everyone. His organizing efforts and ac tivism to end workers’ exploitation led to major changes in B.C.’s Employment Stan dards Act, which saw the inclusion of farm workers in protections afforded by the act. It also led to the formation of the Canadian Farmworkers’ Union.
HUMAN rights activist Harinder Mahil of Coquitlam is one of 14 British Columbians who will be appointed to the Order of Brit ish Columbia, the Province’s highest form of “Asrecognition.representative of the Crown in British Columbia and as chancellor of the Order of British Columbia, it is my great honour to welcome 14 new members to the or der,” said Janet Austin, Lieutenant Gover nor of British Columbia and Chancellor of the Order of British Columbia, on Monday. “I share these congratulations with grati tude to these incredible individuals who have done so much to enrich their com munities. Their leadership and generous service has enhanced the lives of so many British Columbians and has contributed to shaping a better future for all residents of our province.”
This year, 194 British Columbians were nominated. Since its inception in 1989, 489 British Columbians have been appointed to the Order of B.C. Members have been appointed from all parts of the province and in numbers proportionate to a region’s “Onpopulation.behalf of the people of British Colum bia, I want to thank this year’s recipients of the Order of B.C. for their remarkable contributions,” said Premier John Horgan. “Your hard work, dedication and leader ship are examples for us all. You have helped create a better British Columbia and for that we are grateful.”

Mahil stepped up in the 1980s and was one of the fearless leaders who fought back against the influx of the Ku Klux Klan becoming established in B.C. He was one of the founders of the B.C. Organization to Fight Racism, an organization that chal lenged hate. The anti-racism group led to the creation of others that continue to this Mahilday.

The Lariat as tested had a five-foot box, five roomy seats, and four conventionally opening doors. Highlights included the in terior ebony perforated seats, contrasting orange trim stitching and the high spec equipment list.
I was impressed that although you sit high, the narrower cab and smaller size means it’s not a chore to park the Ranger like a fullsize truck. All in all, the new Ford Ranger is very well executed. Ford expect custom ers who perhaps had a Ranger in the past to once more consider the advantages of a smaller fuel-efficient truck will fit in a townhouse or condo parking space. The Rangers handy 7,500 lb of towing capacity (when equipped with its trailer brake con troller and towing package) means it’s the ultimate versatile family or work and play truck. Highly recommended.
The engine powering the Ranger is the second-generation Ford 2.3L twin scroll turbocharged Ecoboost four-cylinder, making 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s mated to a ten-speed automat ic.—there is no manual transmission op tion. The Ranger can carry up to 1,650 lb of cargo with the short bed Crew Cab 4 x 4 configuration, and 1,560 lbs for the Super Crew. All Ranger models have a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 lbs, (When prop erly equipped with tow package) which Ford says is best-in-class.
All Rangers in Canada are 4×4 equipped. The mid-range XLT comes in Super Cab at $38,290, or SuperCrew at $40,090; while the top-line Lariat is a crew cab only, start ing at $44,640., Options and stands alone extra’s will increase the price substantially.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is also included. The Lariat includes such niceties as front heated leather seats, auto-dimming mirror, satellite radio, lane-keeping assist, and a blind-spot monitoring system that adjusts for trailer length for safer lane changes in traffic. The ebony leather front seats are very supportive and comfortable, and have eight-way power with lumbar support on the Lariat. We had the optional premium 10 speaker Bang and Olufsen premium audio set up. The rear seats can fold up for some extra cargo space. Storage space up front is good, with decent sized door pockets and cubby holes. The fit, finish, comfort in the interior is far better and luxurious than the Japanese competition- less utilitarian and truck like I have to say, with a more car-like ambience. So well don on that Ford!

With original suc cess as a writer things took a turn for the stars when the gift ed words man began putting music and spoken word to his writing talents. What resulted was just a joy to hear and expe rience Cohen’s words at both live concerts as well as on vi nyl. Always ready to champion

THE BCREA Nowcast estimate of provincial economic growth (expressed as yearover-year growth in real GDP) for May 2022 is 5.3 per cent. For comparison, yearover-year growth in the Canadian economy in May was 5.7 per cent. The preliminary estimate for year-over-year growth in the province in June 2022 is 4.8 per cent. Through the first 6 months of the year, we estimate the BC economy grew at a 5.2 per cent average year-over-year rate, compared to 4.5 per cent for the Canadian economy as a whole.
Growth of provincial GDP is a key indicator of economic activity, but provincial GDP data is only available annually and with a considerable delay. That’s why we developed the BCREA Nowcast – a tool for tracking monthly growth in the BC Economy. The Nowcast compiles monthly economic data into one easy to understand number, expressed as the year-over-year growth in the BC economy.
data is released with a one- or two-month lag, our estimates for monthly growth will also lag real-time by two months (e.g., estimated growth in January will be published at the end of March). There are

Suppose a family member or friend is good diagnostician and immediately calls 911. Even then, studies show that an immediate electrocardiogram or stress test is less likely to reveal the typical indicators of heart attack. Even if a woman has an early diagnosis of cor onary attack and survives, a bypass operation may be required. But she has twice the risk of dying during the surgery or shortly thereafter. Heart surgeons can explain why. Coronary ar teries are smaller in females. This makes the surgery technically more challenging when vessels the diameter of a piece of spaghetti are joined together.
If blood cholesterol is elevated, most cardiol ogists will recommend cholesterol-lowering drugs. But discuss this with your physician, as
Know and love a woman? Protect her heart
But heart disease kills even more men. This fact and the historical focus on heart disease in men means most people are unaware of the risk factors for heart disease in women. A report from the American Heart Associa tion (AHA) says there have been stunning improvements in death rates of both sexes from coronary heart disease (CHD) since 1980. But women have not shared the benefits equally. Maurice Chevalier, the French actor-singer, was not thinking about coronary arteries when he remarked, “vive la différence”. But the difference makes heart attack the number one killer of women.
Heart attack has been considered a male disease as it occurs in men earlier in life. But after menopause the gender gap disappears. But many remain unaware that CHD is on the attack in women.
Can CHD risk be spotted in women by their loved ones? Chest pain is the most common symptom in both sexes. But at least one-third of women do not show this classic symptom during coronary attack. Rather, they com plain of shortness of breath, fatigue, nausea, palpitations, dizziness, intense anxiety or pain in the jaw, neck, upper back or arm. These problems may be mistaken for a panic attack with fatal delay in diagnosis.

HOW many people realize women’s coro nary arteries are understudied, underdiag nosed, and undertreated? The Cleveland Clinic, a leading cardiology centre, says heart disease is seven times deadlier for women than breast cancer. Build-up of plaque in the heart’s arteries contributes to the death of one in every three women, more than all cancers, chronic respiratory diseases and ac cidents combined.
