Modi flags off first pilgrimage to Kartarpur Sahib Dera Baba Nanak (Punjab) (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday thanked his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan for respecting the sentiments of India as he flagged off the first pilgrimage to Darbar Sahib in Pakistan after inaugurating the Kartarpur Corridor here. In the first-of its-kind occasion in seven decades, Modi sent the first lot of 500 pilgrims to visit Darbar Sahib, also called Kartarpur Sahib, the last resting place of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev, in Narowal district in Pakistan’s Punjab province. “Visit to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib will become easy now,” Modi said at the Kartarpur Corridor inauguration event before opening the state-of-the-art Integrated Check Post for the corridor that connects Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district with the historic Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara across the border in Pakistan. The corridor was inaugurated ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, which falls on November 12. “I thank all who have been associated with the construction of the corridor,” Modi said, adding that he also thanked “Imran Khan for understanding Indian sentiments with respect to the Kartarpur Corridor and worked in that direction within the timeframe”. “Every Sikh Guru, starting from Guru Nanak to Guru Gobind Singh, has made efforts for the unity, defence and security of India. It is this tradition which has been carried forward by the Sikhs in the Independence struggle and thereafter in protecting the country,” the Prime Minister said. Modi also released a

The first batch of pilgrims included former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Modi briefly interacted with Manmohan Singh, who was accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur. Members of the SGPC and all the 117 legislators and MPs from
Punjab were also part of the delegation. Earlier in the day, Modi paid obeisance at the highly revered Sikh shrine in Sultanpur Lodhi. Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated the Sikh community on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and said that the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor was a testimony to Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace. He inaugurated the corridor in Punjab province in Pakistan.
Khan arrived at the corridor inauguration ceremony using the shuttle service being used by the pilgrims. He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Special Assistant on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan, Senator Javed Khan and Special Assistant to PM for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari, among other officials.
Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as Golden Temple, was lighted up on Tuesday in a festive spirit in Amritsar to mark to 550th Prakash Purb (birth anniversary) of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Ayodhya verdict: Supreme Court directs Centre to form trust in 3 months to build temple New Delhi (IANS): In a historic judgement in the sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case, the Supreme Court on Saturday directed the Centre to form within three months a trust which will build a temple at the disputed site. The Sunni Waqf Board, which was a party to the seven-decade-old title suit, should be given an alternate five-acre land at some other suitable place for construction of a mosque, a five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, said in a unanimous judgement. The Centre shall make suitable provisions by handing over the land to the trust, said the bench, which also comprised Chief Justice-designate Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice S. Abdul Nazeer and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud. The court said the title of the land can be decided only on legal advice. The top court ruled that the Allahabad High Court verdict of 2010, giving land to the Sunni Waqf Board and Nirmohi Akhara, was wrong. It rejected the claim of Nirmohi Akhara of being a ‘shebait’ (a devotee who serves the deity). The Supreme Court, however, said that in the board of trustees, appropriate representation should be accorded to Nirmohi Akhara, even though its suit was dismissed. The bench upheld the report of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which concluded that a temple existed at the disputed site. There is clear evidence the Hindus believed Ram was born at the disputed site, it said. There is evidence that ‘Ram Chabutra’ and ‘Sita Rasoi’ were worshipped by Hindus before the British came, the judge-
ment said. The court said travelogue and gazetteers cannot be the basis of adjudication of the title and that the nature of worship offered by Hindus over the years proves that they had always believed that Lord Ram was at the site. Documents of 1856-57 show that Hindus were not obstructed from worshipping there, it said. Outer courtyard has been under exclusive possession of Hindus over the years, the court said. The bench said Hindus consider the disputed site as the birthplace of Lord Ram and this belief is beyond judicial scrutiny. One of the five judges on the Supreme Court’s Ayodhya bench has offered a different perspective on the question of birth of Lord Ram. However, the judgement does not name the judge, but his observation has included as addendum. The judge felt Hindu’s faith is important. “…the conclusion that faith and belief of Hindus since prior to construction of mosque and subsequent thereto has always been that Janmasthan of Lord Ram is the place where Babri Mosque has been constructed which faith and belief is proved by documentary and oral evidence discussed…,” the judge concluded. This judge observed that evidence on record clearly establishes that the Hindus’ faith and belief that the mosque was constructed at the birth place
of Lord Ram, and the threedome structure was the birth place of the deity. The fact that Hindus were, by constructing iron wall dividing the mosque premises, kept outside the three-dome structure cannot be said to alter their faith and belief regarding the birth place of Lord Ram. “The worship on the Ram Chabutra in the outer courtyard was symbolic worship of Lord Ram who was believed to be born in the premises,” said the judge. The judge observed that it was only during the British period that a grille was constructed dividing the walled premises of the mosque into an inner courtyard and outer courtyard. “Grilled iron wall was constructed to keep Hindus outside the grilled iron wall in the outer courtyard. In view of the construction of the iron wall, the worship and puja started in Ram Chabutra in the outer courtyard. Suit of 1885 was filed seeking permission to construct temple on the said Chabutra where worship was permitted by the British Authority,” said the judge. Sunni Waqf Board lawyer Zafaryab Jilani on Saturday said they are not satisfied with the Supreme Court verdict and will file a review petition. “We respect the judgement but we are not satisfied. The judgement is not as per our expectations,” he said. “After today’s order, it looks we will file a review petition. But a final
decision will be taken only after consultation with our legal team,” he added “Today’s observation by the Chief Justice of India will go a long way in the nation’s welfare,” Jilani further said. However, Rajiv Dhawan, the other lawyer who represented the Muslims or the Sunni Waqf Board, evaded a reply. “A historical wrong has been
corrected”, said a senior lawyer of the Hindu side after the Supreme Court on Saturday ruled in favour of a temple in the Ayodhya title dispute case. Speaking to IANS, senior advocate P S Narasimha, who represented Ram Lalla Virajman, said: “Hindus were praying at the Ram Janambhoomi before the mosque was constructed. And after the mosque was con-
structed, they continue to pray till date. This is a great judgement…A historical wrong has been corrected.” Heavy restrictions in the holy town of Ayodhya may not have allowed celebrations for the Supreme Court verdict that clears the way for the construction of the Ram temple but a subdued sense of relief and happiness was palpable.

If Babri Masjid is illegal, why’s Advani being tried: Owaisi Hyderabad: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi talks to the media on the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case, in Hyderabad on Nov 9, 2019. Owaisi on Saturday termed the judgment in the Ayodhya title dispute case as a victory of “faith over facts” and said
that the Supreme Court is “supreme but not infallible”. (Photo: IANS) Hyderabad (IANS) If Babri Masjid was illegal, then why Advani is being tried for its demolition and if it was legal then why Advani is getting the land, asked All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi.
The Hyderabad MP wondered how a person who demolished somebody’s house can get the same house. Addressing a public meeting here Friday night on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi, Owaisi found fault with the Supreme Court judgment in Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title

dispute case and reiterated that ‘Supreme Court is supreme but not infallible’. “If a person demolishes your house and if you go to an arbitrator and he gives your house to the person who demolished it and tells you that you will be given an alternate land at some other place, how’d you feel,” he asked. Owaisi said that his basic question is that why Advani and others who demolished Babri Masjid were being tried if the mosque was illegal. “If Babri Masjid was legal, then how can Advani get the land,” he asked while reacting to the Supreme Court giving the land for construction of the Ram temple. Owaisi slammed those criticising him for not accepting the judgment, saying he has a democratic right to oppose it. The MP alleged that Muslims were insulted by offering them five acres of alternate land. “Babri Masjid is our legal right. We were not fighting for the land. We don’t
want anything in charity. Don’t treat us like beggars. We are respected citizens of this country,” he said. Owaisi thanked the lawyers who represented the Muslim side in the Supreme Court. He noted that even at the age of 80, Rajiv Dhawan argued in the court for hours together. “We have no words to thank Rajiv Dhawan Sahab. The fact that he took the case and fought in these testing times itself is a big thing,” he said. The MP said Kapil Sibal also made his contribution in the case, but the Congress party stopped him from fighting the case. Owaisi said fighting the

Babri Masjid case was important as the BJP and Sangh Pariwar have a list of several such mosques. “These organisations are saying they don’t have any list. If this is true, then why are they not withdrawing cases for Kashi and Mathura mosques,” he asked. Owaisi said all secular parties deceived Muslims. He slammed the Congress for its reaction to the Supreme Court verdict. He said he was fighting against the Congress as it was during its rule that idols were kept in the mosque, its locks were opened and the mosque was demolished. He questioned the silence of so-called secular parties like Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Owaisi asked Muslims not to lose heart over the judgment, saying it’s their country and they are first class citizens. He urged them to offer ‘Namaz’ regularly and take active part in politics and support their party.

Modi pays obeisance at Punjab’s historical Sikh shrine
Sultanpur Lodhi (Punjab) (IANS): Ahead of inaugurating the historic Kartarpur Corridor, a first in seven decades between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid obeisance at a highly revered Sikh shrine here. Wearing a scarf, Modi spent time at the Gurdwara Ber Sahib located along the banks of the holy ‘Bein’, which is connected with many events in the life of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev, whose 550th ‘Prakash Purb’ (birth anniversary) falls on November 12. Modi was received by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Union minister Harsimrat Badal.
The Prime Minister flew into Sultanpur Lodhi in a helicopter from the Amritsar airport. The Shriomani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which has control over Sikh religious affairs, manages gurdwaras (Sikh temples) in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, including the holiest of Sikh shrines Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as Golden Temple in Amritsar, presented a ‘siropa’ (robe of honour) to Modi. One of the main wishes of the pilgrims arriving in the historical Sultanpur Lodhi have been to take a dip in the ‘Bein’. To fulfil the wish, the Punjab government has spent Rs 4.96 crore [Rs 49.6 million] on the development of the Bein and made arrangements for the pilgrims to take a dip without any hassle. The pilgrims take a dip in the Bein before paying obeisance at the Gurdwara Ber Sahib. From the Gurdwara Shri Sant Ghat to Busowal curve, the 4-km stretch of the Bein, has undergone transformation and several “ghats” have been developed. Around 500 cusecs water is being released from the Mukerian Hydel Project to give a fresh lifeline to the ecology of the Bein. The government has spent Rs 4.96 crore on the lining of the holy river’s banks before releasing water in the Bein. A separate enclosure for the “shnaan” of women pilgrims has also been prepared. For the benefit of pilgrims, two high-level bridges have also been constructed. The pilgrims are using these bridges for reaching the Bein and to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Ber Sahib.

realisation of a cherished dream of khulle darshan deedar, I hope it will build a stronger connect between the two countries in the future.”

Punjab Chief Minister for special courts for proclaimed NRI offenders Chandigarh (IANS): Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has assured the Punjabi diaspora settled abroad that he would take up with the Chief Justice of the High Court and the Central government, the issue of setting up special courts to expeditiously settle cases of those who had been declared proclaimed offenders after
fleeing Punjab during terrorism. He was responding to a request from a group of NRIs who came for the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev in Jalandhar city on Monday. The Chief Minister presented the NRIs with books on the life and philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev, a com-
memorative coin and a memento. The NRIs expressed concern that many of those who had immigrated abroad were unable to visit Punjab and pay their respects at the Darbar Sahib and other holy places as they had been declared proclaimed offenders on account of their inability to appear before the
courts in certain cases. The Chief Minister said he would discuss with the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court the possibility of setting up a special court to resolve such cases expeditiously. He said he would take up with the government of In-
dia the possibility of setting up such courts in a few Indian Missions abroad, such as Britain, the US, Canada, Germany and France, where a large Punjabi population resides. The Chief Minister urged the Punjabi diaspora to join his government’s efforts to lead
the state to a new era of development, with the aim of securing the future generations and enabling their progress. He appreciated them for making Punjab and India proud with their work in different parts of the world.

Indian Government commutes death sentence of Beant killer to life
New Delhi / Chandigarh (IANS): The Union Home Ministry has commuted the death sentence of Babbar Khalsa terrorist Balwant Singh Rajoana who was sentenced to death in 2007 for the assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. The decision has been communicated to the Punjab government and Chandigarh administration, said sources, adding the remission order will be pursued by the Chandigarh administration. “It is case of Union Territory (UT), the Home Ministry has sent information to the UT administration. Since he’s lodged in our
jail, we also got the information,” an official with the Punjab government told IANS. “The UT administration will be the one following it up on his remission,” he added. Rajoana, 52, who is currently lodged in Patiala Central Jail, is the prime accused in the case and he will now serve life imprisonment. A former Punjab Police constable, Rajoana was sentenced to death on August 1, 2007, by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Chandigarh and his execution was scheduled for March 31, 2012. The Home Ministry in September this year
had approved the commutation of Rajoana’s death sentence to a life term as a humanitarian gesture ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, a decision which was criticised by Beant Singh’s grandson Ravneet Singh Bittu. Besides Rajoana, the Home Ministry had granted a special dispensation to eight other Sikh prisoners from various jails in the country on the occasion. On March 28, 2012, the Home Ministry had stayed Rajoana’s execution following clemency appeals filed by the Shiromani Gurd-
wara Parbandhak Committee. Beant Singh and 16 others were killed in an explosion outside the Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh on August 31, 1995. Dilawar Singh, a Punjab Police officer, had acted as a suicide bomber to assassinate Beant Singh. Rajoana was the second bomber in case Dilawar Singh would have failed to kill the Congress leader. Rajoana had cited the 1984 anti-Sikh riots as the reason behind the killing of Beant Singh.
Punjab Chief Minister asks SGPC to pay $20 fee for Pakistan visit
Chandigarh (IANS): With footfall at the Kartarpur Corridor reportedly quite low, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday asked the “cash-rich” SGPC to pay the $20 per pilgrim fee for travel out of their own coffers, at least to the ‘yellow card’ holders who simply can not afford to pay the amount. Amid reports of confusion among pilgrims, the Chief Minister also urged the Prime Ministers of both India and Pakistan to waive the passport condition for travel through Kartarpur Corridor and instead accept other forms of identity, including Aadhar card and driving licence. These should be acceptable since there was no requirement of visa to be stamped on the passport in any case, he added. The Chief Minister said the low number of devotees reportedly crossing over to the historic gurdwara was not because of lack of interest among the people but because of the two conditions of passport and $20 service fee. Lakhs of pilgrims were waiting to visit the Kartarpur gurdwara on the historic 550th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev, but were held back because of the problems, he added. Though Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had tweeted, before the opening of the Corridor, that passport would not be needed for devotees to come through, the decision was not formalised, Amarinder Singh pointed out. He urged Imran, as well as Prime Minister Modi, to resolve the problem by coming to an agreement to amend the memorandum of understanding for passport to travel through the corridor.
If pilgrims are unable to make full use of the Kartarpur Corridor, then the whole purpose of this unique initiative on the part of the two governments would be defeated, he added. Pointing to the lavish spends of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee
(SGPC) on holding separate programmes to commemorate the 550th Prakash Purb, the Chief Minister said it was evident the religious body was flush with funds. Instead of flaunting their money to appease their ego and make a political point through this religious occasion, they should spend
the same on supporting the devotees, especially the poor ‘yellow card’ holders who simply did not have the money to pay the necessary fee to Pakistan for entering their territory to pay obeisance at the Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara, he added.
Green product launched in Punjab to counter stubble burning Chandigarh (IANS): Agri-biotech company Kan Biosys on Wednesday launched an ecofriendly product here to tackle the problem of stubble burning. The product, Speed Kompost, does not pose any risks to environment and helps in enhancing the soil quality and agricultural yield, the company said. The product is a compost accelerating formulation which comprises a unique blend of cellulose degrading, starch degrading, protein degrading bacteria and fungi, it said. These microbes when added to the raw compost heap, germinate to produce hyphae or cells. The various microbes, which digest the plant waste, present in Speed Kompost help recycling of crop residues and wastes effectively along with soil reclamation, resulting in enhanced soil quality. Apart from this, the usage of the product also ensures a significant increase in the nutrition value of the soil, according to the company.

Amarinder Singh to urge Modi for access to more Pakistan Sikh shrines Sultanpur Lodhi (Punjab) (IANS): Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said he would take up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi the issue of prevailing upon Pakistan to grant Indian devotees open access to more historic gurdwaras across the border. The announcement was made during the 550th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev, where President Ram Nath Kovind joined the Chief Minister in leading the historic
celebrations in the state. Punjab Governor V.P. Singh Badnore and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot were among the galaxy of luminaries present at the state-level function to mark the occasion. The Chief Minister announced that the 550th Prakash Purb celebrations, which commenced last year, would continue till November 2020. Addressing a religious congregation, the
Chief Minister said as per his government’s decision to release 550 convicts prematurely to mark the historic occasion, 450 had already been freed, while the others would be released over the next few months. The Chief Minister welcomed devotees who had converged from different parts of the country and abroad here to participate in the Prakash Purb celebrations. Once again expressing his gratitude to Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran
Khan for helping realise the Sikh community’s dream of visiting the Kartarpur Gurdwara, Amarinder Singh hoped this would be followed by more such gurdwaras in Pakistan being opened to Indian devotees. He said he would personally take up the matter with Modi and urge him to raise the issue with Imran to facilitate the realization of the Sikh community’s dream to visit those gurdwaras, such as Panja Sahib and Nankana Sahib, also.

sponding period last year. The government agencies have procured over 62.14 lakh tonnes, whereas 5.10 lakh tonne by millers. More than 2.69 lakh metric tonnes of bajra compared to 1.72 lakh metric tonnes last year. Haryana is well known for Basmati rice production, especially in Karnal district. ‘Green Revolution’ state Punjab contributes nearly 50 per cent of food grains (wheat and paddy) to the national kitty.

IT is not mandatory for drivers to continue with driving education once they have their full license, but ICBC has implemented a 90-minute examination called Enhanced Road Assessments (the ‘ERA’). Class 5 and 7 drivers who are deemed to have a medical condition that may affect their driving ability, can be asked by Road Safety BC to complete the ERA in order to maintain their license. Commonly drivers are asked to complete the ERA if their doctor has reported a medical condition that may affect their driving, or if there is a collision report/police report that indicates that they do not know how to handle common driving situations. Drivers may receive a letter from Road Safety BC stating that they are required to complete the ERA within a specified time period. If the driver

Continued driver education
Bernie Simpson does not comply with this requirement, their driver’s license will be cancelled. If there are any safety concerns or violations during the assessment, then the driver will be issued a learner’s driver’s license while their file is reviewed by Road Safety BC.
This means they will need supervision while driving. However, the ERA is not based on age. Seniors around the age of 80 are required to take medical examinations before turning 80 and every two years after that. This entails getting their doctor to fill out the driver’s medical examination form, and if the results are not good, then Road Safety BC requires them to complete the ERA. It is worth considering if elder drivers should be required to participate in continued driver education to refresh their driving skills and keep up with changes. Recently, Mr. Bernie Simpson, a Senior and Founding Partner of Simpson Thomas & Associates, took part in a voluntary driving assessment. It helped him improve his driving skills and become more aware of his driving environment.
Pakistan Sikhs urge India to facilitate access to Dera Baba Nanak
Karachi / Lahore (IANS): The Sikh community of Pakistan has urged India to facilitate access to Dera Baba Nanak Gurudwara in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Pakistan Sikh Council (PSC) Patron-in-Chief Sardar Ramesh Singh Khalsa said the Kartarpur Corridor’s opening was in line with Sikhism founder Guru Nanak’s teachings of inclusion, peace, and interfaith harmony and that he was speechless after seeing “tears of joy in the eyes of his Sikh brethren”, Geo TV reported. Underlining that through the
Kartarpur Corridor, Pakistan was facilitating and welcoming the Indian Sikh pilgrims, he said that a similar effort should be made by India to invite the Pakistani Sikh pilgrims. “The Modi government should facilitate and give access to Pakistani Sikhs wishing to visit and pray at Dera Baba Nanak,” Singh said. “Set aside the religion and the politics… there are some 25 million Sikhs in the world and many are warned of danger and told of the border contentions between India and Pakistan.” There are many historic fig-

ures of religious importance between India and Pakistan who bring together people irrespective of the differences in their faiths just because they were revered by everyone, he said. “There was Baba Sheikh Fareed (Fariduddin Ganjshakar), whose shrine is in Pakpattan, Pakistan, and Moinuddin Chishti whose shrine is “Ajmer Sharif Dargah” in India’s Rajasthan,” the Sikh leader said. “Wouldn’t it be amazing for Sikhs on both sides of the border to be able to visit their holy sites?” asked Singh.
After years of driving experience, some elder drivers can develop bad driving habits, such as becoming last minute signalers or tailgaters. Such behavior on the road can be risky. For instance, if an elder driver is giving their signal at the last moment before changing lanes, then that does not give the other driv-
ers enough warning and can lead to an accident. Also, as we age we go through physical and mental changes, such as a slower reaction time, so if an elder driver is not leaving enough space between their car and the car in front that suddenly brakes, then they will have trouble stopping and can lead to an accident.
Our team at Simpson Thomas & Associates believes that continued driver education can help make driving a less stressful and dangerous experience for everyone. If you or a loved one has been injured in a motor vehicle accident, please call us at (604) 689 8888 to schedule a complimentary consultation.

The Irishman (PG) ****.
Feeling the heat of a host of new streaming services set to divide and rule the internet trendsetting Netflix continues to raise the bar. Just In time for the festive season spend some time with an Irish version of the Corleonne family with The The Irishman . Set for a limited two week big screen release in only 20 American cinemas and Vancouver’s own Vancouver International Film Centre In order to gain Academy Award consideration this colossal effort is well worth seeing. Few can make a 3 1/2 hour movie memorable but gifted director Martin Scorcese sure can. Marty here assembles an unbelievable list of A class actors who know the crime genre. Like the back of their hands. Full of politics and Intrigue The Irishman is a textbook way of how to get to the top - and stay there. Representing a fundamental step toward fulfilling Acura’s return to Precision Crafted Performance, which started with the debut of the secondgeneration NSX, the Type S Concept sets the stage for re-introducing Type S performance variants to the Acura line-up after a decade hiatus, and will heavily influence the character of the upcoming, second-generation TLX Type S. The Type S Concept showcases new elements of Acura design including next-generation, four-lamp Jewel Eye® LED headlights, an open-surface Diamond Pentagon grille, and “Chicane” daytime running lights and taillights, both drawing inspiration from
the Acura ARX-05 Daytona Prototype race car. In addition to the rear decklid spoiler, forged carbon – created by bonding layers of carbon on top of one another to exceed the strength of traditional interwoven carbon – is applied to the front and rear splitters, side sills, rear decklid spoiler and multi-spoke 21inch wheels. The Concept’s bespoke “Double Apex Blue
Pearl” paint reflects a liquid and electric hue that pays homage to blue Type S heritage models, A fundamental step in fulfilling the promise of Precision Crafted Performance, Acura will debut two Type S performance variants in the next two years, starting with the second-generation TLX Type S. Type S models will deliver a high performance driving experience with quicker acceleration, nimbler handling and stronger braking performance than conventional Acura models. From 2001 through 2008, four Type S models set the standard for Acura performance in North America: Acura also expanded its sporty A-Spec package to all core models, attracting younger, more enthusiast-oriented customers in the process. In early 2018, the brand announced its intention to re-establish Type S
performance variants in its line-up, and the development of a new, Acura-exclusive, turbocharged V6 engine. In June of last year, Acura launched the 2019 RDX as the first in a new generation of Acura models designed from the ground up around Precision Crafted Performance. In its first year, the third-generation RDX has become the retail best-selling model in luxury’s largest segment, setting multiple consecutive all-time monthly sales records. The brand has also seen a highly successful return to sports car racing in North America. Acura teams and drivers fielding the NSX GT3 Evo and ARX-05 Daytona Prototype currently lead both Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ Championships in the GTD and DPi classes of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Mitsubishi Future of Automotive Retail Urban Concept Mississauga, Ontario – Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc. is launching a new urban retail boutique concept that is making it more convenient and cost effective for dealer investors to open a Mitsubishi Motors dealership in high-traffic, high-rent urban settings. A beautiful sales showroom stands alone while the service area and inventory parking areas are located in industrial low-rent spaces a few kilometres away. Triaging all three areas is a dedicated concierge whose duties include drop off and
pick up of vehicles from the customer’s home to the service centre or from dealership showroom to the service area. The concierge will also hand deliver vehicles for test driving. The traditional dealership footprint requires a defined large size square footage to accommodate the space required to park vehicles in its inventory and service areas with multiple service bays. This has limited the ability for a dealer to locate in urban areas because large spaces are unavailable and/ or high lease rates make it
unaffordable and unprofitable. The Mitsubishi urban boutique concept offers maximum flexibility to the dealer who would like to open a dealership without being tethered to a defined
square foot requirement or the costs associated with it. Investment is redirected to concierge services. “The new Mitsubishi Motors urban boutique concept pushes the envelope
on what service means at a mass automaker. The concept seeks to redefine the relationship between customer and dealership through a concierge. Our strategy is to reinvent every part of our business from product, to retail to service with a keen focus on enhancing the customer experience and dealer profitability. This concept doesn’t replace the traditional dealership but it gives our dealers more options and flexibility in choosing their next location,” said Juyu Jeon, president and CEO, Mitsubishi Motor Sales
of Canada, Inc. “The automotive shopping experience has changed. There is more online research and fewer trips to the dealership as part of the consideration and purchasing process. Creating opportunities that bring the retail face of the brand closer to the customer helps Mitsubishi Motors develop a stronger brand presence and helps us to differentiate our brand,” said Paul Simmonds, vice-president, Sales & Marketing, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc.
Mopar Debuts Ram Rebel OTG Concept Truck at SEMA Show
, Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Mopar brand will take the stand at the biggest of all aftermarket parts shows to reveal two new pickup truck concepts customized with a unique combination of Mopar production and prototype parts and accessories. The Ram 1500 Rebel OTG (Off The Grid), an overlanding-themed vehicle concept, and the Mopar Lowliner Concept, a reimagined 1968 Dodge D200-series pickup, will be shown for the first time at the 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Associa-
tion (SEMA) Show – the premier automotive specialty products trade exhibition in the world. The OTG concept uses as a canvas the new 2020 Ram 1500 equipped with the new 3.0-liter V-6 EcoDiesel engine, which offers exceptional low-end torque and extended driving range, coupled with a 33-gallon tank that makes it the ideal truck for long-distance travel. The vehicle draws upon the rugged capabilities of the production Ram 1500 Rebel, improving all-terrain capability via Mopar’s concept
two-inch lift kit, beadlock wheels and 35-inch Goodyear tires. The OTG concept also includes Mopar concept accessories, such as a front bumper with integrated winch, a larger grille with flow-through R-A-M badging and a functional snorkel air intake to improve off-road capability and performance. A bed rack system fits atop the truck bed, carrying a collapsible rooftop tent, which can be accessed via a stowable ladder. Enhancing the overlanding experience, inside the truck bed there is a retractable battery-powered cooler and kitchen unit with a gas-powered stove and sink with an on-board water system. An added rack structure is mounted above the cab to provide additional storage space for tools and equipment. A solar panel set, which can be deployed at any moment to generate electricity, and a backup
power supply eliminates the need for a gas-powered generator, freeing cargo capacity. A concept hide-away bed step in the rear makes loading and unloading easier. The concept truck is also equipped with an on-board air compressor in the bed cargo area.
For vehicle recovery and extraction, the OTG is equipped with an integrated front-bumper winch, traction mats attached to the rack system and a high-lift jack for uneven ground mounted on the top of the cab. To make the dark campsite brighter while
night camping, The overlanding purpose of the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG concept is reinforced by an outdoors theme that includes Mojave Sand exterior finish color, unique interior accents and showcases its roots with a Mopar Rebel hood graphic.
