New Delhi (IANS): CDelhi Police is installing 15,000 CCTV cameras as part of security arrangements for Republic Day which will have US President Barack Obama as the chief guest. Over 45,000 personnel from Delhi Police and paramilitary forces will also be on the streets of the capital Jan 26, officials said. Rajpath, the three km stretch which is the main venue of the Republic Day parade, will have over 160 CCTV cameras - with a camera installed every 18 metres, a police official said. "At least 13,000 CCTV cameras have already been installed at various points in the city and the remaining are being installed in a speedy manner," the official told IANS on condition of anonymity. Another 2,000 cameras will be installed in two days, he added. The camera footage may be shared with the US Secret Service also, the official said. A seven-layer security ring will guard the enclosure that will be used by Obama, President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to watch the parade. The enclosure will be bullet-proof as the US president will be in an open air setting for about two hours, something unprecedented in his

visit to a foreign country, officials said. Before Obama lands in his official plane Jan 25 at Delhi airport, the area will be taken over by Special Protection Group (SPG) sleuths and US Secret Service agents. India Gate has been shut down for the public as a security measure. The area around it has been turned into a virtual fortress. "There will be 45,000 security personnel on the roads of Delhi on Republic Day," another official said. Sources said the central, north
and New Delhi districts will be manned by over 20,000 security personnel, including men from the SPG. The airspace over the capital will be monitored by a special radar, they said. Most of the buildings within a two-km radius of Rajpath will have snipers during the parade. Security arrangements are also being beefed up at ITC Maurya, the hotel where Obama is expected to stay.

Special security cameras outside Maurya hotel for Obama visit New Delhi (IANS): Special cameras that can capture every tiny detail of the surroundings as well as the details of the human face have been installed in front of ITC Maurya hotel where US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle will be staying for three days beginning Jan 25. The entire 500-metre stretch on Sardar Patel Marg along which Maurya is situated has been fully covered by over 20 such specialized cameras installed at around 20 feet distance on electric poles, trees and iron railings to ensure security during the VVIP visit. In keeping with the heightened security, the Delhi Police team, including a subinspector, stationed outside the hotel is not allowing vehicles to stop even for a second outside the gate. People are not allowed to loiter outside the hotel. Anybody found loitering is questioned by the officers and told to move on quickly. A sand-bagged police picket has come up outside the hotel manned by three carbine-wielding policemen. A Police Control Room (PCR) van is also stationed round-the-clock a few metres away from the gate. The next-door Taj Palace has been asked to beef up its security. A Delhi Police team is also stationed at the hotel. The branches of dense trees outside Maurya and Taj hotels and along Sardar Patel Marg have been pruned, and white halogen lamps installed on trees and lamp posts to enhance lighting in the area.

Obama, Modi to give joint address to CEOs New Delhi (IANS): US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a joint address to the American and Indian business communities Jan 26, the US-India Business Council (USIBC) said Wednesday. Besides the two leaders, the Indian government's Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), the
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) would also be present on the occasion. The USIBC said the address would be the culmination of a series of high-level engagements that the USIBC has held over the last several years. The USIBC hosted Obama during his first visit in 2010 and
Modi during his maiden visit as prime minister to the US last September. USIBC acting president Diane Farrell said: "With business sentiment at an all-time high, the timing could not be better. We see both countries working earnestly and with a firm resolve towards achieving $500 billion in two-way trade over the next five years."
Kejriwal, Bedi, Maken file nominations for Delhi battle New Delhi (IANS): The main contenders for the post of Delhi chief minister - Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal and Ajay Maken - Wednesday filed their nomination papers in the riveting political battle for the Feb 7 assembly polls. The three leaders entered the fray on the last day of filing nominations and made claims about good performance of their parties. Though the contest is mainly being seen as between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party, the Congress sees itself as "a dark horse" which can turn the applecart of the two parties. Kejriwal, a former Delhi chief minister who is re-contesting from the New Delhi constituency, filed his nomination papers at the district magistrate's office on Shahjahan Road. He faced protests from BJP workers as he reached the office at 11.20 a.m. The BJP workers standing outside the office shouted antiKejriwal and pro-Narendra Modi slogans. AAP workers also started raising anti-Modi slogans. The AAP had won 28 seats in
the 2013 elections, finishing a close second to the BJP which won 31 seats. The Congress could win only eight seats. Kejriwal, who had caused an upset in 2013 by defeating then chief minister Sheila Dikshit by a sizeable margin, hoped that people will give him similar support. "People have made up their minds that they will bring back the AAP with full majority," Kejriwal said after filing his nomination papers. "My biggest challenges are corruption and price rise. I accept that people were angry because of our (government's) resignation earlier, but now their anger is over and they have full faith in us," he added. Kejriwal was scheduled to file his nomination papers Tuesday, but could not do so as thousands of people joined his road show and he could not reach the district magistrate's office in time. The BJP's Nupur Sharma, who is contesting against Kejriwal, also filed her nomination papers Wednesday. Congress leader Kiran Walia is
also contesting from New Delhi. BJP's chief ministerial candidate Bedi filed her nomination papers from Krishna Nagar. She reached the sub-divisional magistrate's (SDM) office around noon and was accompanied by senior leaders Harsh Vardhan, Vijay Goel, Maheish Giri and Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay. Bedi led a road show before filing her nomination papers. "I hope people will accept me and vote for the BJP," Bedi told reporters. Harsh Vardhan, who has earlier won from the seat, consid-
ered a traditional stronghold of the BJP, said he was sure Bedi will win, and that the party was fighting the election collectively. Maken, the campaign chief of the Congress, filed his nomination papers for Sadar Bazar seat and said his fight for Delhi was with both Bedi and Kejriwal. "My direct fight is with Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal," Maken said. His key rivals in Sadar Bazar include Som Dutt Sharma of the AAP and Praveen Jain of the BJP. The Congress won the seat in three successive polls till the AAP won it in 2013.
With Bedi sidestepping a challenge from Kejriwal for a debate, Maken said he and the AAP chief should have a structured debate. Maken said the party will urge the people of Delhi to make comparisons between the 15 years of Congress rule with that provided by other parties. He admitted that the Congress was an "underdog" in the election but said it was also "a dark horse". He said the media gave a few seats to the AAP in the last election but it won 28, and something similar will happen with the Congress in this election. All the three candidates were accompanied by thousands of supporters on the way. Polling officials in Delhi said the last day saw a rush of candidates filing their nomination papers. The BJP had come out with its first list only Monday night and its second list came out Tuesday. The officials said 384 candidates filed their nominations for 70 seats in the national capital till Tuesday evening.

Three lawmakers to join Obama on India trip Washington (IANS): Three Democratic lawmakers, including the lone Indian-American Congressman Ami Bera, whose parents moved to the US from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat in the 1950s, will join President Barack Obama on his India trip. Bera, co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and India Americans, will be joined by his predecessor Joe Crowley, who is currently vice chair of the Democratic Caucus
and Senator Mark Warner, cochair of Senate India caucus. “As the son of Indian immigrants, I am extremely honoured to be a part of this historic trip to India with the president,” said Bera. “Prime Minister Modi’s trip to the United States last year was a turning point in relations for our countries, and now this trip will be an important opportunity to continue to move the US-India relationship forward,” he said. “As the oldest and largest
democracies in the world, our countries have many common interests and I hope this will be another step toward realizing the full potential of the US-India partnership,” Bera added. Bera became India Caucus co-chair at the beginning of the current 114th Congress. Formed in 1993, the India Caucus is a bipartisan group of members dedicated to championing strong ties between the US and India and supporting the Indian-American community. It
is the largest country caucus in Congress. “The principles of India’s democratic constitution serve as a shining example for the world, and what better time for the President of the United States to make this historic visit than to join India in celebrating its Republic Day,” said Crowley. “It is an honour to join President Obama on this trip and I look forward to robust discussions on how we can open the next chapter in US-India
relations,” he said. “I strongly believe that the United States-Indian relationship should and will serve as a key building block of US foreign policy in the decades ahead. “Working together, the United States and India can be a transformational force in meeting global challenges,” Crowley said. Warner had announced last week that he too would be travelling to India as part of the presidential delegation.

his wife. But we have chosen a team of 50 and the remaining 20 will remain on standby,” a hotel source told IANS, refusing to be identified because of stringent security restrictions. The staff, who have been cleared by Indian and American security, will
look after the needs of the US president and his wife -- from serving food, water, answering their rings, ushering them, and remain on their toes to follow any command. The team will be headed by seniors of the hotel management who have previous experience in dealing

ITC Maurya staff not allowed mobile phones during Obama stay New Delhi (IANS): All phone lines at ITC Maurya will be monitored by the Delhi Police and US Secret Service from Jan 24 evening, a day before US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle arrive here for their three-day stay in India. “All the telephone lines, including the internal phone lines of the hotel, will be monitored by the Delhi Police staff, and no staff member will be allowed to carry or use mobile phones during the time the US president is staying at the
NEW
hotel,” a security source told IANS. On Jan 25, the hotel staffers and helpers who come to the hotel will have to deposit their mobile phones, other electronic items and belts with the hotel security. Maken ahead, Bedi and Kejriwal trail in assets race
New Delhi (IANS): AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal owns assets worth about Rs.2 crore, nearly Rs.5 lakh less since his last declaration in 2014 for the Lok Sabha polls, while BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi declared assets worth Rs.11.65 crore. [1 crore = 10 million / 1 lakh = 100,000.] Congress campaign panel chief
Ajay Maken put his wealth at over Rs.13 crore in the affidavit he filed along with his nomination papers Wednesday. In his affidavit to the Election Commission, Kejriwal said his movable and immovable assets were worth Rs.94.26 lakh, while the assets of both these types of his wife was worth over Rs.1.15 crore, including
gold and silver of about Rs.9 lakh. The former Delhi chief minister and his wife own properties in the National Capital Region worth over Rs.1.85 crore. According to details provided by Bedi, she has movable and immovable assets worth Rs.11.04 crore while her husband's assets were worth Rs.61.35 lakh.
Twitter buys Indian startup ZipDial New Delhi/Bengaluru (IANS): Microblogging site Twitter Tuesday announced it has acquired ZipDial, a Bengaluru-based mobile value added services startup. Though this is Twitter's first acquisition in India, the company did not disclose the deal size. ZipDial has built a mobile platform, which allows users to follow and engage with content across interfaces. The user experience combines SMS, voice, mobile web and access to mobile apps to bridge users from offline to online. ZipDial's platform has about 60 million users with hundreds of marketer clients across the country, including the world's leading brands and media firms. "As we want to make Twitter more accessible to the people the world over, our partnership with ZipDial will make great content accessible to everyone," Twitter's market director for India and Southeast Asia Rishi Jaitly
said in an e-mail to IANS. Twitter expects billions of people to go online for the first time in many countries like Brazil, India and Indonesia in future. "For many people, though their first online experience will be on a mobile device, the cost of data may prevent them from experiencing the true power of the Internet," Twitter vice president Christian Oeslien said in a statement. By acquiring ZipDial, Twitter wants to help every Indian with a mobile device enjoy its experience. "We believe our platform, invented for SMS and rich in media, is a perfect match for India," Jaitly said. The acquisition also gives Twitter a new engineering office in Bengaluru and signifies its increasing investment in India, where it sees great potential for growth. ZipDial has about 50 employees across the country. "Over half of the world's population lives in emerging and newly developed markets, where consumers
use mobile phones differently. We build for them. Our innovative platform has scaled across South Asia, Southeast Asia and Africa, where we operate," ZipDial founder and chief executive Valerie Wagoner said. Through ZipDial, it will be easy for a user to engage with a publisher or brand by making a toll-free missed call to a designated number. "The caller will receive an inbound content and further engagement on his/her phone in real time through voice, SMS or an application notification," the statement said. Over the past two years, ZipDial and Twitter have collaborated on a variety of campaigns, including the general elections in 2014 and Bollywood promotions. "People across India use ZipDial's platform to access cricket scores, audio programming, tweets from Bollywood stars on their mobile phones," the statement added.
With three flats in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh worth Rs.6.05 crore, the value of her land in Pune has been put at Rs.1.6 crore and that in Gurgaon at Rs.25 lakh. Congress leader Maken and his wife declared movable and immovable assets worth Rs.11.4 crore. There was Rs.2.5 lakh in cash at his disposal while his wife has
Rs.13,800. However, their balance in the bank, including their investments, was over Rs.1.9 crore. The three candidates Wednesday filed nomination papers along with the declaration of their assets for the upcoming polls in the national capital. Delhi will vote Feb 7, while ballots will be counted Feb 10.

Indian-American Frank Islam receives Martin Luther award Washington (IANS): An eminent Indian-American entrepreneur and philanthropist Frank Islam has been presented with the prestigious Martin Luther King Jr. Award in recognition of his contribution to the legacy of the great leader through his efforts in international service and civil engagement. The award, which carries the name of Martin Luther King Jr., an apostle of peace, is about building bridges
between humanity. The award was presented to Islam by Harry Johnson, president of the Memorial Foundation Inc. and one of the honorary vice chairs of the event, which was held at Willard Intercontinental, the American Bazaar reported Monday. "I feel doubly blessed to be given this honor because of the indelible connection between King and that other famous civil and human rights
leader from my homeland of India, Mahatma Gandhi," said Islam, who came to the US as a student in the 1970s. He added that both King and Gandhi "have been beacons to me in my personal life, and charitable and philanthropic involvement". Islam also said that the award was especially important to him because of its emphasis on "peace and nonviolence". "More lives have been lost in
the past 100 years than at any given point in time. Whether it is in the name of religion, nationalism or any other extremist ideology, thousands are being killed every year," he said. Last year, President Obama appointed him to the board of Trustees of the Kennedy Center. He also serves on the International Advisory Committee of the US Institute of Peace.
Indian-American boy floats firm to sell low cost Braille printer
Washington (IANS): Thirteen-year-old IndianAmerican Shubham Banerjee from Santa Clara, California, who developed a low cost Braille printer called Braigo using the Lego robotics kit last year, has opened a full-fledged company to develop the machines for the masses. Banerjee's start-up Braigo Labs has got funding from Intel Corporation, among others, said his website. The invention was featured at the first ever "White
House Maker Faire" in June last year to "celebrate a nation of makers and help empower America's students and entrepreneurs to invent the future". Banerjee was invited to the White House for developing an accessible solution for blind and disadvantaged people across the globe. "Technology should help us to make our life easier and not become a burden due to high cost," Banerjee posted on his website. "Our mission is to bring
'Humanely Optimised' technologies that are innovative, affordable, simple and catering to solving life's problems," he added. Born in Hasselt, Belgium, Banerjee has formed Braigo Labs in Palo Alto and plans to start selling a more durable version of the printer. The eighth-grader from Champion School in San Jose, California, wants to finally develop a desktop Braille printer that brings the cost down to $350 from the current $2000 for education, teaching and home use purposes. Banerjee came up with the idea of integrating his love of Lego and willingness to find an alternative way to help the visually impaired. It resulted in the invention of an open source costreduced "DIY braille printer". He called it "Braigo v1.0" as a proof of concept to show everyone that we can do better to help the people in need.

Scheduled Castes panel slams Punjab government Chandigarh (IANS): The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Tuesday expressed concern over the state of affairs in Punjab with regard to implementation of provisions of Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes Act. Addressing media persons after review meetings with Punjab officials, NCSC chairman P.L. Punia said the state vigilance and monitoring committee, headed by the

"Similarly, meetings at district levels are also not being held on a regular basis," Punia said. He said financial assistance for Scheduled Castes under various schemes were not being utilised properly in Punjab. Punia pointed out that due to reports of funds spent under the
Scheduled Caste Special Component Plan released by the central government not being submitted for 2010, Punjab has not got funds from 2011 till 2014. Incidentally, Punjab has the highest percentage population of Dalits at nearly 31 percent. Punia said that as per norms, 32 percent of plan funds needed to be assigned for plans related to Scheduled Castes. "The state government had
agreed that it could assign only 28 percent funds, but in actuality, the funds being spent exclusively for SC related schemes were meagre two percent," Punia said. Punjab has a Bharatiya Janata Party-Akali Dal alliance government since 2007. "Another serious lapse noticed by the commission was non-filling up of 20,000 backlog vacancies in the SC category. The state government's attention has been drawn
towards this. On the atrocities against SC people too, delays have been noticed in filling of FIRs, as well as in trials leading to very low conviction rate," he said. The Punjab government claimed that the commission lauded the initiatives taken in the field of governance reforms, especially of 'Saanjh Kendras' and the 181 police helpline for helping curtail harassment of people in public offices.
Extradited terrorist Jagtar Tara sent to police custody Chandigarh (IANS): A court in Punjab's Patiala town Saturday sent extradited Khalistani terrorist Jagtar Singh Tara - convicted in the assassination of then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh - to five-day police custody. Tara was produced before the court of the duty magistrate by Punjab Police in connection with the murder of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat chief Rulda Singh. The leader was shot at in his house in Patiala district July 28, 2009. Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) chief Tara was extradited by authorities in Thailand Friday and a Punjab Police team was
given custody of the terrorist in Bangkok.
Tara was nabbed in Thailand Jan 6 following a coordinated
operation of central agencies, Punjab Police and Thailand Police. The counter-intelligence wing of Punjab Police had tracked down Tara in Thailand. A Bangkok court Jan 6 ordered that Tara will be extradited from Thailand to India. Tara, aged around 40, was one of the terrorists convicted in the sensational assassination of then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh by a human bomb at the heavily-guarded Punjab secretariat complex here Aug 31, 1995. Tara, who was using an assumed name Gurmeet Singh, was living in disguise
near the beach resort town of Pattaya in Thailand. Thai authorities said he was living illegally in the country for over four months. Three terrorists - Tara, Jagtar Singh Hawara, Paramjit Singh Bhaura - and their accomplice Devi Singh, a murder convict living with them in the same prison barrack, had made a sensational escape by digging a 104-feet-long tunnel in the high-security Burail jail here on the intervening night of Jan 2122, 2004. Hawara and Bhaura were rearrested by security agencies but Tara remained elusive.
High Court directs seizure of Chinese string Chandigarh (IANS): With recent incidents of people being killed or getting seriously injured after getting entangled with Chinese string (dor) being used for kite-flying, the Punjab and Haryana High Court Tuesday directed the Punjab and Haryana police chiefs to ensure that all stocks of the deadly string were seized. The court also asked both states
to file compliance affidavits by Jan 29. The directors general of police in both states have been asked to direct all station house officers to conduct raids and seize the stocks of Chinese string from traders who may be found storing or selling such string. Police and local authorities have been asked to make people aware

in their respective areas about the dangers of using the Chinese string. Lawyer H.C. Arora, who filed a public interest litigation before the court, stated that some people had died while others were seriously injured due to the Chinese string. Arora pointed out that three accidents had taken place in Punjab in the past one week itself.
He said kite-flying activity will increase in both states during the Basant festival next month. Haryana's Advocate General Baldev Mahajan told the court that the Haryana government had issued an order to all district magistrates, district police chiefs and police commissioners to issue orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973,
for prohibiting storage and sale of the Chinese string for a period three months. Punjab's Advocate General Ashok Aggarwal told the court that the Punjab home department had extended the period of ban against storage and sale of the Chinese string for a period of six months from Jan 14.

Punjab motorists taken for a ride over number plates Chandigarh (IANS): This is one ride that motorists in Punjab are going to hate. Over 1.3 million motorists in the state have been given faulty registration number plates for their vehicles and the government, which had turned a blind eye when the fraud was happening, has now cancelled the contract of a consortium which installed the faulty high security number plates. Through an order delivered Jan 13, the Punjab transport department cancelled the contract of the consortium of three companies who were given the task in 2011 of installing high security registration plates (HSRP) on nearly 5.4 million vehicles. The consortium comprised three companies -Agros Impex, Frost International Limited and Trinity Engineering Services. The government has however not uttered a word on launching an inquiry into the mess. Sources in the transport sector peg the loss to
motorists to the tune of Rs.50 crore due to the faulty number plates. According to NGO Raahat Safety Foundation, the contract was terminated by the government following a series of complaints about the number plates. One company has been blacklisted in two other states for faulty number plates. "The issue is not about the faulty number plates alone. The companies have compromised national security by installing faulty plates which do not even fulfil the mandatory requirements under the law. These do not even have the snap locks and security numbers," international road safety expert Kamaljit Soi told IANS. "Mere cancellation is not enough. Someone needs to take responsibility for this situation. There are legal and national issues of security involved in this. Since 2011, the Punjab government chose, for whatever reasons, to ignore the
discrepancies of the consortium despite complaints of poor quality number plates without security features. "What if a vehicle is used for terrorist activity or crime? We have sought a CBI or vigilance probe into this," said Soi, who was vice chairman of the Punjab government's road safety council. When the contract for the HSRP was given to the consortium in 2011, there were over 5.4 million registered vehicles in Punjab on which the new number plates were to be installed within two years. The companies could not even complete onethird of those vehicles. Transport department sources say there are over seven million registered vehicles in Punjab now. "My understanding is that the faulty HSRPs have been affixed on new vehicles registered in Punjab since 2011. Out of the original 54 lakh (5.4 million) vehicles, only a limited number have got it installed," Soi
Punjab bans 'MSG' screening Chandigarh (IANS): The Punjab government Saturday ordered a ban on the screening of the film "MSG - The Messenger Of God" in the state. Official sources said the decision to impose the ban on the film, which has the controversial head of Dera Sacha Sauda sect Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh as the main lead, has been taken following intelligence inputs that its screening could lead to tension in the state.
said. Transport Minister Ajit Singh Kohar said the government "will look into this issue and resolve it". But the government's move just to cancel the contract and not take action against the compa-
nies and transport department officials concerned is hardly of solace to motorists who got the faulty plates installed. "We went through the ordeal of getting the HSRP, and now we are told that these are not valid as they
don't even have the security features. This is ridiculous. Was the Punjab government sleeping for the last three years? Who will pay for the new number plates?" Amritsar resident Ravi Soni told IANS.

ChaiTime 15 phrases that will change your life in 2015 CONTINUED FROM LAST WEEK "I'M GRATEFUL FOR"
SUDOKU
Research shows that expressing gratitude can make us happier and healthier -both common resolutions at the start of the new year. Keep a gratitude journal or just reflect on what you're thankful for at the end of each day. "OH WELL" Not everything is going to turn out the way we planned and that's more than OK. Accepting life as it is instead of worrying about how it "should" be can be a freeing feeling.Stressing over the little things can negatively impact our lifespan, take a toll on our bodies and more. As one of the most popular songs advised, Let it go.
HOW TO PLAY: Digits 1 through 9 will appear once in each zone - one zone is an outlined 3x3 grid within the larger puzzle grid. There are nine zones in the puzzle. Do not enter a digit into a box if it already appears elsewhere in the same zone, row across or column down the entire puzzle. Solve Time: Under 13 min. - Genius; 13-17 min - Scholar; 17-21 min - Smart; 21-25 min - Not bad; 25+ min - Keep practising DIFFICULTY LEVEL : MEDIUM
"HOW CAN I HELP YOU?" If someone you love is going through a hard time, sometimes the best way to support them is just offering to do so. "If you really want to help somebody, then the way you should go about it is to ask yourself if you can be
supportive of the individual in a way that allows them to tell you about what they're experiencing and why they may be experiencing that," said Todd Farchione, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders.Helping others isn't just good for them, it also can give you a boost.Research shows that giving back can increase selfsatisfaction and a sense of purpose, while volunteering can improve longevity. "CAN YOU HELP ME?" Asking for help also carries weight. There's nothing wrong with admitting that you need a little assistance. In fact, it can be transformative. We're often worried that asking for help makes us look stupid, but one study found that seeking advice can actually make you appear more competent. "I DON'T" Tempted by those leftover holiday cookies while working on your
healthy resolutions? Swap "can't" for "don't." A study published in the Journal of Consumer Research found that people who used phrases like "I don't eat cookies" had more self-control and positive behaviour changes than those who said "I can't eat cookies." "I'M SORRY" It's hard to admit when we're in the wrong, but doing so can drastically improve our lives (not t o m e n t i o n o u r relationships).Research shows that guilt can physically weigh us down -so let it go with a heartfelt apology.
"THANK YOU FOR YOUR MESSAGE. I AM CURRENTLY OUT OF THE OFFICE" OK, so technically you're not saying this, your inbox is -but this typed phrase is still vital to your well-being. Statistics show that Americans are too stressed and too scared to take their vacation days, and instead surrender to burnout and overwhelm at work. Planning a vacation -whether it be a real one or just one from your email -can boost your happiness and reduce stress. So let your Out of Office do the talking, and plan to take some time for yourself this year.
Answer
"LET'S GO" When was the last time you embraced a little adventure? Statistics show that new experiences are at the top of our bucket lists, yet we rarely go out on a limb. Research also suggests that experiences -not things make us happier. Why not travel off the beaten path this year?

Preity Zinta's fascination with 'true stories'
HISTORY lessons are often synonymous with being boring, stretched and dull. But actress-producer Preity Zinta seems to have come up with an interesting
method to gulp down all the facts, and that's through watching "true stories" on screen. "I love 2watch true stories. It's like a history lesson. Sadly these people changed the course of history but still struggled personally," the actress tweeted. The actress, who was last seen in the 2014 release "Happy Ending", also heaped praise on Hollywood movie "American Sniper", which is based on the biography of American army sniper Chris Kyle. "Loved how 'American Sniper' showed the personal side of war and how it affects people emotionally...Eventually there are NO winners in war," she further posted. Starring Bradley Cooper, the film encapsulates the internal as well as external turmoil of Chris, starting from his childhood right through his marriage and short career span that lasted only four trips to the strife-torn zone in Iraq. Big B: I never dared to sing in front of Ilaiyaraaja MEGASTAR Amitabh Bachchan, who shared his experiences working with music composer Ilaiyaraaja, felicitated at a function here Monday for completing the music of his 1,000th film, said he never dared to sing in front of the maestro. "I have never dared to sing in front of him because I found it very embarrassing. Every time I used to sit in a studio separately to record... I
remember one occasion while doing 'Paa', where I had to sing a song with Raja saab in front of me. I can't say how frightening it was," Amitabh Bachchan told reporters during the music launch of "Shamitabh." Big B described Ilaiyaraaja as "a genius". "It was amazing how he corrected me. Thanks for the opportunity." (IANS)
Farhan confirms he's sung duet with Priyanka Chopra
ACTOR-FILMMAKER-SINGER Farhan Akhtar has sung the first duet of his career, and that too for his sister's forthcoming film "Dil Dhadakne Do". Accompanying him on the mike is actresssinger Priyanka Chopra. Confirming the exciting combination, Farhan said: "Yes, Priyanka and I have sung a duet in 'Dil Dhadakne Do'." So far, Farhan has only rendered solo songs in "Rock On!!", "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" and "Shaadi Ke Side Effects". According to sources, the duo has sung a "smouldering smoky love ballad steeped in nos
talgia and longing". Needless to say the song has been filmed on Farhan and Priyanka, as neither actor-turnedsinger is willing to playback for other actors. "I don't see myself giving voice to other actors. It just doesn't work for me." As for Priyanka, one has ample reason to believe she wouldn't sing for other heroines...Not when the new breed of female actors are most eager to give voice to their own songs: Alia Bhatt in "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" and "Highway" and Shraddha Kapoor in "Ek Villain". Novelist moves HC accusing 'PK' makers of plagiarism NOVELIST Kapil Isapuri has approached the Delhi High Court, accusing the makers of Aamir Khan's film "PK" of plagiarism. He said certain portions from his Hindi novel "Farishta" published in 2013 were "stolen and copied" and used in the film. Isapuri has sought punitive damages of Rs.1 crore [Rs.10 million] from the filmmakers along with credit for his work. The Rajkumar Hirani directo-
rial, which raises questions about religion and people's blind faith in godmen, has been co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Hirani. The movie also stars Anushka Sharma and Sanjay Dutt. The plea, filed through advocate Jyotika Kalra, alleged that the makers of the film as well as scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi stole the characters, expression of ideas and sequences from the novel "Farishta".
"The novel has criticised blind following of so-called godmen and that profession of religion is not natural but is man-made and artificial and, in a group of people, nobody can identify their respective religion," the plea said. The court recently dismissed a plea which sought a ban on the film for alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu gods, Hindu beliefs, faith and worship. (IANS)

Customers ďŹ nancing any new Toyota vehicle with Toyota Financial Services (TFS) may delay making payments for a full 90 days. OAC. Offer expires February 2nd, 2015. Call for more details.
ACTORS Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Sridevi Tuesday came together to celebrate the 1,000th film of music composer Ilaiyaraaja at the music launch of "Shamitabh", where the maestro was felicitated in the presence of the entire star cast of the film. The event also saw a live performance by Big B and Dhanush, apart from other singers and music composers. "Thank you for whatever you have given to this industry. I am your devoted fan. Your music is a big inspiration. I am not a trained actor, but accidentally became an actor... It is because of your music that I have made it so far. My every inspiration comes form your music," Dhanush said. R.Balki, however, clarified that "Shamitabh" was not Ilayaraja's 1,000th film. "Director Bala's film is the 1,000th film of Ilayaraja," he said. Presented by Eros International and produced by RK Damani, Sunil Lulla, Gauri Shinde, Rakesh Jhunjhuwaala and Abhishek Bachchan, "Shamitabh" starring Big B, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan is scheduled to release Feb 6. Besides the star cast, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shruti Haasan and Tabu were among others who were present at the event. "It's an honour to be present here with the wonderful talent around us. Thank you for giving us this opportunity Raja sir," Abhisehk Bachchan told reporters. "Thank you very much. It's an absolute honour to be present here. We have enjoyed your music. Thanks to the team of 'Shamitabh.' Thank you all the legendary icons. I have the pleasure of calling one of them Paa," Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said. Big B sat with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan after felicitating Ilayaraja and shared their experiences working with one of the leading music composers of the Indian film industry. (IANS)

ED officer who quizzed Punjab minister transferred, opposition slams move
Chandigarh (IANS): An enforcement directorate official, who had recently questioned Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on money laundering allegations, has been shifted to Kolkata, drawing strong criticism from opposition parties which accused the central government of a cover-up. Assistant Director Niranjan Singh, Friday transferred from Jalandhar to Kolkata, had recently questioned Majithia for over four hours along with other ED
officials in Jalandhar following allegations of his links with three NRIs being investigated for money laundering connected to a Rs.6,000 crore international synthetic drugs racket busted by Punjab Police in 2013. Majithia is the younger brother of union minister Harsimrat Badal, who is wife of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa Saturday attacked the Narendra Modi cen-
tral government and the Parkash Singh Badal state government for "conspiring to hush up the investigations against Majithia and other Akali leaders by transferring the ED officer" mid-way in the probe. "This is a criminal conspiracy to hush up this narco-terrorism racket by the ruling powers as Majithia is among the most powerful leaders being the brother-in-law of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and brother of Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal," Bajwa
said here. The ED is under the finance ministry. Bajwa also noted out that ED officials in the region had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the harassment by the Punjab Police for the last several days which was aimed at putting pressure on them. Bajwa sought a CBI inquiry into the racket and also demanded the ED's investigation should be transferred out of the state "so that the officers are able to carry
out their probe without intimidation of the Punjab Police". Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Ahbaab Singh Grewal said that the transfer of ED official Niranjan Singh right after he questioned Majithia had raised many questions. He said that ED officials had complained to their senior officials in Delhi regarding their phones being tapped by Punjab Police and they being pestered for information regarding the filing of 'challan' in this case.
Walkers back as Sukhna Lake re-opens in Chandigarh Chandigarh (IANS): With dense fog reducing visibility to only 50 metres Monday and biting cold, Chandigarh's Sukhna Lake could not bask in the glory of rising sun for a grand re-opening. But the chilly morning did not stop scores of morning walkers who turned up at the lake complex, which opened to public Monday after one month. As police bands played in the background, Chandigarh administration officials lined up in their track-suits to mark the formal reopening of the city's most popular tourist spot. "Sukhna Lake Breathes Again" signboards greeted visitors, many of whom were youngsters, as the lake complex saw human activity once again after remaining closed for a month. But enthusiasm among the lake's die-hard regular walkers and fitness enthusiasts was infectious as they who braved the unfriendly
weather conditions to ensure that they did not miss being at the lake for even a day more. "It is good to be back at the lake. It has such an attraction for an early morning or evening walk," former Indian hockey team captain and Olympian Pargat Singh, who is now a legislator in Punjab, told IANS. "I missed the lake so much. I have been coming here for over 20 years. Despite the fog and the cold conditions, I am feeling so refreshed," morning walker J.R. Gupta told IANS, striding with an extra bounce. The Sukhna Lake complex, which was shut down Dec 19, was formally opened for the public Monday. The scare of bird flu, which hit this landmark, had forced local authorities to ban public entry into the complex. The bird flu scare started after nearly 30 geese and ducks died mysteriously during the first half of
December. Of the samples sent for examination, one tested positive for H5N1 virus or avian flu (also called bird flu). "I am happy to be back here. Even though most of the lake and the Kasauli hills are not visible today (Monday) due to the fog, it is such a pleasant experience to be back," lawyer Sunil Parti, who has been walking at the lake for nearly 29 years, told IANS. Missing from action at the lake
complex were the scores of white ducks and geese, which were culled following the bird flu scare, and their cackle as people used to bring bread and other eatables to feed them. Local authorities got the lake complex thoroughly washed Sunday before it was allowed to be re-opened. White boric powder had been sprinkled in the whole complex, including the roads, parking and the promenade walk-

ing area. It was for the first time in the history of this man-made lake that it was shutdown for public entry. However, the authorities have decided not to allow boating, which is highly popular among tourists and local visitors, for the next few days as a precautionary measure against water contamination from infected birds. Health and wildlife officials in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana regularly monitored people living close to the lake complex for any symptoms of bird flu. The commercial complex at the lake, which has some eateries and shops, is reported to have taken a hit of over Rs.7 million (70 lakh) due to the closure. The lake sports complex, which has a club house, sporting facilities and water sports and is a popular destination for weddings and other functions, too, remained bereft of any activity.

MOVIE REVIEW
Selma (PG) ****
Cameras take us into the Deep South as we see one man try to win voting rights for Afro Americans. Up against a corrupt stare government and racist civic officials a mild-mannered preacher named Martin Luther King Jr., decides to do something about the powerlessness of a disenfranchised community. Sensational on all fronts is David Oyelowo who captures the essence of the mighty orator.
In Selma the filmmakers delve deep into the civil rights movement with its various elders and enemies. Co-producer Oprah Winfrey (The Color Purple) sets the stage early as a woman who is victimized by the system. Later events including some memorable marches show the intolerance embedded in the South egged on by a bigoted state government, Memorable perform-
ances of the political powerhouses of the day include Tom Wilkinson (In The Bedroom) and Tim Roth as Negro-hating governor George Wallace. Strong arm tactics by the authorities hit home as you feel for the disadvantaged in this monumental struggle. Not to be missed Selma is heading your way with a full roster of dynamic dramatic performances.

India have enough match-winners to lift World Cup: Dravid New Delhi (IANS): Batting legend Rahul Dravid Tuesday said the presence of multiple match-winners in India's World Cup squad gives the title-holders a strong chance of retaining the mega trophy in Australia and New Zealand. "I think India have a good chance to win the World Cup because we have so many match-winners," Dravid said on the sidelines of a sports lecture here. "Such is the format of the World Cup that getting into the quarter-finals should be easy for the top teams. Then after reaching the last eight stage, there are only three knock-out
matches and we have got the match-winners who could win you the three knock-out games, on any given day." The World Cup begins Feb
14. Dravid specifically pointed out India's premier batsman and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who could decide the outcome of the competition. "We have players of the quality of Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni just to name a couple who can actually win you games single-handedly. And that is what the World Cup can become about," he noted. "You reach the quarter-finals, have three good days, have a bit of luck and you could win it. Why not?" Asked about India's apparent bowling weakness which could be their reason for down-
fall, Dravid said it is the team's batting strength that India has to bank upon while the bowling unit should complement the effort of the batsmen. "But it is not going to be easy. I may make it sound easy but certainly the team is capable. If Virat Kohli has a great run and Dhoni has a great run anything is possible. The bowlers could come into form during the World Cup. Yes, it is not going to be easy, specially in those conditions but India has a good chance," the retired star said. Dravid tipped four teams Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and India - as the top four teams, one of which is
likely to lift the coveted trophy. "I believe that Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and India are the top four sides who are favoured to win it." But he also didn't rule out last edition's beaten finalists Sri Lanka from the mix, noting that they always remain the surprise element of the tournament. "Sri Lanka is also there. One always seems to omit Sri Lanka but they always reach the latter stages of big tournaments. They always seem to surprise us. These four or five teams anyone, I believe, has a chance to lift the Cup," the former right-handed player said.
'ICC has made progress in reporting suspect bowling action' Dubai (IANS): International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive David Richardson said Tuesday that they have made "significant progress" in identifying suspect action bowlers and suspending them. In the last few months, the ICC has reported and suspended some high profile bowlers, such as Pakistani spinners
Saeed Ajmal and Mohammed Hafeez for not bowling fully legal deliveries. "We want to make sure that we don't lose ground on what has been significant progress over the last few months. The game realised that we had a significant problem and there were just too many bowlers, from all teams, bowling with
suspected actions," said Richardson in a statement. "We have made very good progress in identifying those bowlers, sending them off to be tested and, where necessary, suspending them until they can remedy their actions." Sri Lanka's Sachithra Senanayake and New Zealand's Kane Williamson were also
suspended by ICC from bowling. But following their remodelled actions, they were cleared to bowl in December. "There might be one or two (bowlers) who were suspended and are now coming back into international cricket and the challenge for them will be to make sure that they maintain their remedied action," said the
former South Africa wicketkeeper. "The instructions to the match officials will be no different and these matches will be treated exactly the same as any other international match and if there are bowlers who are bowling with suspect actions, they might be reported."
Three Russian Olympic champions tested positive for doping Moscow (IANS): Three Russian Olympic gold medalists in race walking were tested positive for abuse of using performance improving drugs, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) said Tuesday. Sergey Kirdyapkin and Olga Kaniskina were banned for three
years and two months, while Valery Borchin received a ban for eight years from October 15, 2012. Their performance results were also annulled, according to the agency's decision. Ramil Khabriyev, director general of RUSADA, told media that the International Olympic
Committee would decide whether to rescind medals of these banned athletes, Xinhua reported. Kaniskina won a silver medal at the London Olympic Games in 2012. Kirdyapkin became the gold medalist in men's 50 km walk also in London.
Borchin, who won the gold medal in men's 20 km walk at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, has been accused of violating anti-doping rules for the second time, and the suspension penalty means he will have no chance to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Only 2 percent of tennis Pakistanis should play in HIL: Sardar, Ajit Pal pros earn profit
Canberra (IANS): Only two percent of professional tennis players earn a profit from tournament prize money, according to a study released by Tennis Australia Monday. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) Review, which was compiled by Tennis Australia with the help of the Victoria University and Kingston University, aimed to investigate tournament prize money and the way it is shared across all competitors, reports Xinhua. It revealed that the vast majority of professional players were unable to make a living through the sport, having to pay on average more than $130,000 per year for travel costs, accommodation, equipment and coaching. The study also showed that only 1.8 percent of male tennis players and 3.1 percent of female made a profit in 2013, accounting for only 2.25 per cent of 13,736 professional athletes. The report goes on to estimate that 95 percent of all players would still
fail to cover necessary tour costs even after sponsorship revenue is factored into the equation. "With rising Grand Slam prize money and better than ever exposure, you might think that life's pretty glamorous for your average pro tennis player," Victoria University data analyst Michael Bane said Monday. "But a closer look at the numbers suggests you'd be wrong." Only 310 players (160 men and 150 women) made a profit in 2013, with 45.5 percent of all men's players and 43.9 percent of all women's players failing to earn any prize money whatsoever. According to Bane, the way in which prize money is divided between athletes remains the biggest issue. "There is actually a lot of money in tennis, totaling $162 million for the men and $120 million for the women," he continued. "What makes it so difficult for developing athletes is the way it's dis-
tributed." The report, too, indicates prize money allocation as the main factor in the disparity between tennis' highest and lowest paid earners, with the top one per cent of players receiving 62 percent and 51 percent of all prize money in men's and women's tournaments respectively. "That's $97 million shared between the top 50 men, with the rest being distributed amongst everyone else," Bane said. "Yet even amongst the top 32 men, there is severe inequality in pay. "In comparison, the Australian Football League (AFL), golf and motorsports show a far less rapid decline in pay with ranking." The report has been released to coincide with the first Grand Slam event of 2015, the Australian Open, which began in Melbourne Monday. The ITF will examine the report in further detail in May as part of its major review into prize money structuring and junior development.
New Delhi (IANS): Current Indian hockey captain Sardar Singh and former skipper Ajit Pal Singh Monday said that Pakistani players should be allowed to play in Hockey India League (HIL). The duo, however, added that the decision to allow the Pakistan players is an administrative issue and HIL officials should follow the Indian government's order regarding it. "Pakistan have good players and they should be allowed to play in the HIL. Good players need to play in the league. But I also understand the situation and one must follow the government's stand on it," Sardar
said here. Ajit Pal also echoed Sardar's sentiments and said that India and Pakistan should play bilateral series' to promote the sport. "As a sportsman, I would say they should be allowed. But one must understand the situation," Ajit Pal said.
Nine Pakistani players were part of the first edition of HIL in 2013 but had to leave the country before the start of the tournament following protests from a few political organisations. Since then, they have not taken part in the league, owing to political tensions between the two countries. To make matter worse, two Pakistani players were handed one-match suspensions by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for making obscene gestures at spectators following their victory over India in the Champions Trophy semi-final at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar in December.
Ronaldo can overtake Messi to win more Ballon d'Or: Zidane Paris (IANS): Zinedine Zidane insists that Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has more to give in the future and will end up winning more Ballon d'Or titles than rival Barcelona star Lionel Messi. "Ronaldo will win more Ballons d'Or," he told Goal.com Monday. A week ago in Zurich, the 29-year-old Portuguese striker was crowned the world's best player of 2014 for the third time overall, leaving him
just one behind his Argentine counterpart. "What he's doing is from another planet. If this continues, he will improve even further and may end up winning more than Messi," said the iconic Zidane, 42, who's coaching Real reserves Castilla after retiring from soccer with Real, Xinhua reported. The former France international had a lot to say about compatriot Karim Benzema, saying he's exceptional for Los
Blancos. "He is another very important player. Sometimes it is discussed whether to change to him to a No.9 for Madrid and it's wrong. All wrong," said Zidane. "He is not a player who will score 60 goals a year like Cristiano, but thanks to his quality, he links up with everyone and always makes the moves that the team needs," he added. "Very few in the world can do that."

Pahlaj Nihalani appointed new Censor Board chairperson FOUR days after Leela Samson quit, film producer Pahlaj Nihalani, younger brother of filmmaker Govind Nihalani, was Monday appointed the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), along with nine new members. Nihalani has produced films like "Shola Aur Shabnam" and "Andaz" in the past, and is a former president of the Association of Motion Picture and Television Programme Producers. "The Central Government is pleased to appoint Pahlaj Nihalani as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification in an honorary capacity
from Jan 19, 2015 for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier," read a statement from the ministry of information and broadcasting. The nine members appointed with immediate effect include Mihir Bhuta, Syed Abdul Bari, Ramesh Patange, George Baker, Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, Jeevitha, Vani Tripathi Tikoo, S. Ve Shekhar and Ashoke Pandit. The decision comes just days after Samson resigned as CBFC chairperson, citing interference, coercion and corruption of panel members.
CBFC is a statutory body under the ministry of information and broadcasting. It regulates the public exhibition of films under the provisions of the Cinematograph Act 1952. Samson, an acclaimed Bharatnatyam dancer, was appointed its chair in 2011, and she and her members were continuing on interim extensions. Following her, 10 of the Censor Board's members -- Ira Bhaskar, Lora Prabhu, Pankaj Sharma, Rajeev Masand, Sekharbabu Kancherla, Shaji N. Karun, Shubhra Gupta, T.G. Thyagarajan, Mamang Dai and Arundhati Nag - also
put in their papers via a letter to the ministry, citing the "cavalier and dismissive manner" in which the board is treated by the government. M.K. Raina and Anjum Rajabali had resigned from the board earlier itself. The breaking point regarding their resignation is said to be the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal's (FCAT) green signal to the release of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's controversial film "MSG - The Messenger of God" despite the decision of the CBFC to deny clearance to the film. Ranveer Singh reminds Amrita Rao of Kishore-da ACTRESS Amrita Rao, who has worked with superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan since her debut in 2002, says she is eagerly waiting to work with Ranveer Singh as he reminds her of legendary actor Kishore Kumar. Amrita was present at an event when she was asked about with whom she wanted to share screen space in future. To that, she said: "I've worked with actors from Shah Rukh Khan (in 'Main Hoon Na') to Amitabh Bachchan (in 'Satyagraha'). I've
been very fortunate. But maybe Ranveer Singh! He reminds me of Kishore Kumar, and I'm a big fan of Kishore Kumar." "If I get a chance to work with him (Ranveer Singh), I think it would be very interesting," she added. Amrita, who has appeared in family-oriented films like "Vivah", "Welcome to Sajjanpur", and "Jolly LLB" among others, says she would love to do similar films in future as well. "After 'Vivah', I did a Telgu film 'Athidhi'
(2007) with Mahesh Babu. It was a big hit. After that I did 'Victory' (2009), 'Short Kut: The Con is On' (2009), 'Jolly LLB' (20013) and 'Love U...Mr. Kalakaar!' (2011). All these films were clean family films," Amrita said. She says she left too many films in her career because she wanted that "whenever I look back after several years, I feel good about myself". On the film front, Amrita is currently busy with Prakash Jha's next yet untitled film. (IANS)
Mukesh Bhatt is my godfather: Composer Jeet Ganguly COMPOSER Jeet Ganguly, who has created tunes for films like "Aashiqui 2", "Youngistaan" and the forthcoming "Khamoshiyan", says filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt is his "godfather", who gave him a "rebirth" in the Hindi music industry. Ganguly had worked for a song in the film "Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai" and then came back into the music industry with "Aashiqui 2", which was produced by Bhatt's Vishesh Films. "I came back to the Mumbai music
industry after 10 years. My godfather is Mukesh-ji, he brought me back. He has given me a rebirth," Ganguly told IANS in an interview. Speaking about his musical inspiration and childhood, the composer said: "My childhood was full of Salil Chowdhary, R.D. Burman and Madan Mohan sahab. My father used to play with them and I used to play my guitar on their notations. That is where I got my inspiration from."
Ganguly, who has composed music along with Ankit Tiwari for the forthcoming film "Khamoshiyan", praised Arijit Singh for his voice in the title track. "Arijit's rendition of the song and his flawless singing is the USP of the track. When he heard the title track, he liked it a lot. "Arijit took three or four hours to record the song. I had told him that I want a fresh tonal quality for the song and there has to be innocence. He fol-
lowed the same and did an excellent job," Ganguly added. The supernatural erotica, which is the directorial debut of Karan Darra, stars Gurmeet Choudhary, Sapna Pabbi and Ali Fazal. The film will hit theatres Jan 30. Meanwhile, Ganguly is busy composing music for upcoming films like "Phir Se", "Mr. X" and "Hamari Adhuri Kahani". (IANS)

Lexus Unveils the Newest Member of Its HighPerformance ‘F’ Series: The 467hp GS F Exotic-car performance, four doors, and enough cabin space to comfortably accommodate five adults. Previously, only a few automobiles in the world possessed these traits, but not anymore. Today, Lexus has joined the ranks of the super sports sedan-maker with the introduction of the GS F at the North American International Auto Show. The much-anticipated GS F sports sedan, which combines the opulence of a leading luxury cruiser with the performance of a world-class sports car, is the latest vehicle to join the company’s high-performance “F” line which already includes notable examples such as the RC F. Based on the mid-size GS luxury sedan, the GS F breaks new ground for Lexus as the largest vehi-
cle ever offered with an “F” badge. Not to be confused with the GS F SPORT, the GS F will have enhancements throughout, including its engine. “The cars with the ‘F’ designation are meant to generate a very positive feeling when you’re behind its steering wheel, to be something that’s fun to drive no matter who is driving or where it’s being driven. With the GS F, we wanted to make a special car that not only would exceed the expectations of the most discerning driving enthusiast, but also something that all people can enjoy. In that way, the GS F embraces the virtues sound, response and power, the cornerstones of the Lexus ‘F’ brand,” YukihikoYaguchi, the chief engineer of the GS F,
said. The GS F features an enlarged, and more pronounced version of Lexus’ trademark “spindle” grille, with a distinctive mesh pattern reserved for F models, and large gaping air vents that have been flawlessly integrated into the front fascia. Slim canted headlights with the signature Lexus “L-shaped” DRL complete the car’s elegant-yet-sporty face. The GS F sits noticeably lower and wider than other GS models, resulting in an aggressive stance that along with its front fender air outlets and sporty 19in. alloy wheels, make it
instantly recognizable as an F. The rear is highlighted by a subtle carbonfiber rear spoiler and “trapezoidal tailpipes,” with four chrome exhaust tips, that powerfully suggest that this car is meant to be driven hard. Inside the sheet metal, the GS F’s cabin has been spiced up to exude the look and feel of the cockpit of a fighter jet. The interior is styled in an elegant form-follows-function theme, with all controls placed within easy reach of the driver. Residing behind the exclusive “F” sport steering wheel, is a new electronic instrument cluster
that can be configured between four different displays, depending on your preferred driving style: Normal, Eco, Sport S and Sport S+. Also, custom front and rear seats have been implemented to provide the vehicle’s occupants with more lateral support while not sacrificing comfort. Despite all the sporty touches, the GS F retains a luxurious feel, thanks partly to the high-grade Alcantara on the door trims, center console and above the instrument panel. An analogue clock adds a touch of class to the already elegant dashboard that features a cen-
tral video monitor controlled by a Remote control on the center console. The GS F is available with a premium 17speaker Mark Levinson audio system that will satisfy the most demanding of audiophiles, but when you want to listen to the music provided by the engine, simply activate the Active Sound Control by putting the drive system into “Sport S” or “Sport S+.” The Active Control System – similar to the one found in the RC F but better because it also utilizes the speakers at the rear seats; enhances the vehicle’s robust exhaust note for all the GS F’s occupants to enjoy, perfectly complimenting the sporty driving experience. The new, sharp-looking logo is meant to enhance the appeal of Lexus’ “F” brand, which includes the GS F, while letting the motorsports world know that it’s serious about international GT3 racing, officially designated by t h e FédérationInternationale de l’Automobile (FIA) as “Group 3: Cup Grand Touring Cars.”

Infiniti’s global growth plans gather pace Since establishing its global headquarters in Hong Kong and inaugurating Infiniti Motor Company, Ltd., Infiniti has taken decisive steps to strengthen its brand presence and globalize its business. The relocation to Hong Kong means Infiniti is strategically placed for growth in emerging luxury markets such as China while remaining closely connected to the West. An experienced management team has been assembled comprising leading multinational executives from stand out automotive
and luxury goods brands. The growth plan is underpinned by a commitment to offer product alternatives for a new generation of youngminded premium customers and to defy the conventions set by the brands currently dominating the premium segment. The Q50 sports sedan was Infiniti’s first model in the company’s product offensive and kicked off the normchallenging growth strategy. Winning awards from around the world, it features striking design, passionate craftsmanship, and a raft of world-leading technologies,
chief among them Direct Adaptive SteeringTM, the first steer-by-wire technology in a production vehicle. At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last January, the Q50 Eau Rouge was revealed, hinting at the high-performance credentials of the Infiniti brand. The super sports sedan is now an engineering study based on a running prototype. The momentum continues with Infiniti introducing the new Q70L and QX80 models at the New York Auto Show last April. Also, the long-wheelbase versions of

Q50 and QX50 are now available in China and are the first Infiniti models produced in the country. Keeping up the pace, Infiniti signaled intentions to move into the challenging premium sedan category at the Paris Motor Show in October. Infiniti premiered its vision with a full-size Q80 Inspiration four-door fastback, which was widely lauded by international media. Next up is the Q30, Infiniti’s premium compact entry for global markets, to be launched this year. It will also be Infiniti’s first vehicle built in Europe. The Q30
made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013 with a shape that is a fusion of a coupe, hatch and crossover, designed for young-minded customers seeking an alternative to traditional premium compact vehicles. The new and expanded portfolio is supported by the growing global manufacturing footprint, with China and the United Kingdom joining production sites in Japan and the United States. The powertrain options are being extended also with the recent addition of a turbocharged two-litre gasoline
engine for the Q50 outside of the U.S. Already available to Chinese and European customers, the new gasoline variant is being made available in other markets. Leveraging strategic alliances such as that with Daimler AG will lead to collaboration on advanced research and development of key future technologies and their applications. The vision for Infiniti is clear: to produce a range of vehicles defined by emotive design, meticulous attention to detail, unsurpassed hospitality and intuitive technology.
